Congratulations to Uganda for bringing back tree-crops as livelihood, which benefits all. I collaborated with Jane Goodall by presenting our Eco-Montreal Tiohtiake Green Map & Tsi-Tetsionitiotiakon, Sustainability Rooted in Heritage Geographic Information Systems GIS ecological & indigenous cultural Placename mapping at a Roots & Shoots youth conference south of Montreal about 18 years ago. The following work in all humanity's worldwide 3-dimensional 'indigenous' (Latin 'self-generating') 'SYLVALIZATION' (L 'sylva' = 'tree') grew 3-D Polyculture Orchards which are 100 times (10,000%) more productive than 'civilization's' ('city-state') 2-D 'agriculture' (L 'ager' = 'field'). Polyculture photosynthesizes 92 - 98% of solar energy converted into food, materials, energy & water-cycle. Food production as the foundation for all human economy, its absolutely important that; farmers, agri-business corporations, universities, government policies & all aligned food systems begin to align with & benefit from the abundance of the tree-based biosphere. Agriculture only photosynthesizes 2 - 8% of solar energy reflecting over 90% back into the troposphere where it pushes winds from the continent to the sea. At the Sahara/Sahel Latitudes of less than 30 degrees north, the sun is so hot it burns 2-D agriculture. HYDROLOGICAL CYCLE: Tree roots descend 10s of metres as deep as the canopy into the earth's substrate where they mine minerals, pump water & develop nutrient extensive colonies. Continental cold spots created through complete photosynthesis cause warm moist ocean winds to be drawn inland (warm to cold) where 60% of moisture transfer is through condensation of warm moisture laden wind onto trillions of square kilometres of fractal leaf & bark surfaces. Only 40% of water is transferred as rain/snow. 'Agriculture' 2-8% photosynthesis reflects 95% of solar energy, which pushes winds from the continent towards the sea causing permanent desert. Sahara, Gobi, Atacama etc. deserts are all created by human agriculture including exploitation of animals such as domesticated goats, sheep, cattle, pigs etc. Indigenous peoples worldwide did not exploit domesticate animals but lived in collaboration with these other tree & biosphere tending specialists. Indigenous polyculture maintains a constant humidity, which keeps trees from burning. sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/design/1-indigenous-welcome-orchard-food-production-efficiencies 6) Humanity's worldwide indigenous ancestors understood, much more in an interdisciplinary 'Circle-of-Life'. This is a worldwide integrated systematic heritage of integrated whole system design complexity. sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/home/indigenous-circle-of-life

Thank you so much, this is very good to know! And it is true that very many indigenous groups know very well how to live in a circle of life and in balance with nature. However, as anthropologist I know of some indigenous groups who traditionally practiced a slash-and-burn economy until environmentalists showed them other ways of living with nature. Some still do. But since they produced goods only for their personal use, they had no greater impact on the destruction of nature

@@mylupylu I appreciate your precaution around the false moniker of 'indigenous'. Just because a people have been conquered doesn't make them 'indigenous' (L 'self-generating'). Our work in Indigene Community & the Sustainable Development Association considers that; all humanity were originally indigenous, such as even the Celtic & Slavic peoples of Europe before the violent Assyrian, Greek & Roman conquests, invasions, genocide & destruction of their carefully crafted productive biospheres. As each of indigenous nations were successively conquered by 'exogenous' (L 'other-generated') colonials they often became the shock-troops of empire. Humanity's living infrastructures were destroyed, then we joined in the oligarch colonial dollar empire controlled scourge of the earth since the time of Babylon's self-destruction. As we reduced 3-D polyculture down to 2-D 'agricultural' (L 'ager' = 'field') scarcity, poverty & catastrophe ensued for all living species. We have & still are turning so much of once lush biospheres into desert. Slash & burn are all part of the colonial period. A number of Indigenous peoples worldwide did burn off (Terra-Preta) low bush undergrowth under the tall Oak & other nut, fruit & greens providing trees such as throughout much of Turtle-island (North-America) & South America. Charles C. Mann in 1491 also writes & documents about the continental trade networks across the Americas with very well travelled & connected foot paths & canoe routes. Another good anthropology resource is Henry F. Dobyns in Their Number Become Thinned. Many have stated that our 'Indigenous Welcome & Orchard Food Production Efficiencies article posted in my previous comment, has the best calculation for the factors of this food, materials, energy & water-cycle producing efficiency. In order to understand this exogenous oligarch managed perversion of humanity, we need to understand 'money' (Greek 'mnemosis' = 'memory'). Bottom-up, once worldwide indigenous 'String-shell' time-based equivalency accounting systems are completely different from amnesia-dependence upon oligarch intentionally created centrally emitted metal-coin-money, String shell such as Wampum, Quipu, Cowrie, Bei etc. was a system of memory for all collective domestic, industrial & commercial contributions. String-shell integrated: Capital, Currency, Social-Security, Education, Communication, professional Costume & other factors. @@oueeiijayii As I said, I used the anthropologist definition of 'indigenous'. That means, being indigenous has nothing to do with being conquered, it rather means that you live in your ancient area of origin and have been mainly untouched by industrialization, but instead follow the everyday life practices of our ancestors. The groups I am talking about live in the area of Southeast Asia (Myamnar, Thailand and Indonesia)
@oueeiijayii
@oueeiijayii 4 года назад
@@mylupylu I appreciate your reference to one of the meanings of 'indigenous' as original peoples. 'INDIGENE' as a VERB. Today, as oligarch-captured institutions & populations 'exogenously' (Latin 'other-generated') violate society & the biosphere's very limits to nurture & protect us, 'indigenous' from its Latin 'self-generating' is being re-appropriated back to its etymological root. India employed their Hindi term 'swadeshi' meaning 'indigenous' or 'self-sufficiency' during the 20th century as the economic engine to achieve 'swaraj' (H. 'self-rule') by throwing off the British, US, Canadian, Australian & New Zealander colonial parasites. India has for 1000s of years had a Swadeshi movement. When Mohandas Gandhi came back from South Africa in 1917, he did not initially understand Swadeshi, but was soon influenced to employ 'self-sufficiency' as the main 'economic' (Greek 'oikos' = 'home' + 'namein' = 'care-&-nurture') force for recapturing India's sovereignty. BACK TO THE FUTURE Like other ethnohistorians, I believe anthropologists & archaeologists are responsible to address the main characteristic of the 'original' populations which they are studying. Indigenous populations have been colonially invaded, genocided (removed from their infrastructure & biosphere resource means of livelihood), displaced & made refugees for 500 years in the Americas & 1000s of years elsewhere, yet few anthropologists even address these fundamental factors. Most anthropological 'reports' (funded by outside money) don't even mention the colonial aspects, which the conquered indigenous face on a day-to-day basis. Nor do anthropologists & archaeologists mention the ongoing exploitive divide, command & control structures & lack of legal right for indigenous refugees to long term ownership, planning & implementation of stewardship strategies for their own land & biosphere resources. Here's some mapping of Mohawk, Wendat & Algonquian placenames, which has enabled many to revision 'Tiohtiake' (Mohawk 'Place-where-the-nations-&-their-rivers, unite-&-divide' aka 'greater-Montreal-archipelago') as a living abundant biosphere. sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/home/5-tiohtiake-mohawk-placenames sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/home/mapping-ecological-indigenous-heritage JUMPING INTO THE TEST-TUBE Some anthropologists such as Henry F. Dobyns & others have stood with the indigenous populations, which they were 'studying', in recognition for this common anthropological factor of exploitive-causation & the need to restore sovereignty (Control Theory), which we all face today. When we understand all humanity's ancient indigenous String-shell, we find intimate human balances, which are totally missing from our oligarch central, issued, owned & controlled false 'money' (Greek 'mnemosis' = 'memory') systems. sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/structure/3-economic-memory 1) The inclusion of recognition for collective domestic labours in the ~100 person collective multihome (eg. Longhouse-apartment, Pueblo-townhouse & Kanata-village) is totally missing in our oligarch controlled money. Women have a key role in human memory & governance systems. Empowering women by formally recognizing their collective domestic labours & tendency to care-nurture for home & family as well as their other wonderful contributions brings a balance to the male tendencies in industry & commerce.

I studied abroad in Madagascar and this was very much an issue. There was a local inventor we met who designed the high efficiency stoves and also charcoal-free/wood-free solar cookers that he wanted to get to villages. I think while planting trees, it could also be interesting to provide these ovens to villages and townspeople.
