UGLIEST Pistol of WW2? | German Occupation Czech CZ38 Vz38 | Czechoslovakian Military Handgun .380

We are taking a look at one of the most unique and possibly ugliest military handguns of World War Two. The Czechs developed the Vz.38 pistol, also known as the CZ38, before WW2. It was meant to be a replacement for their Vz.24 and 27 pistols but German occupation of Czechoslovakia and its arms manufacturing industry killed that idea. The CZ factory was already geared up for production though so the Germans decided to have the pistols made anyway. Germany put them to use and sold some to other countries. I picked this one up from Century Arms as a "Gunsmith Special". It was missing the magazine but the price was right so I rolled the dice. I'm glad I did too because even though this thing is in rough shape it has a great bore and is a good shooter. It's not exactly a fun shooting experience though because this thing is an ergonomic mess and doesn't feel very good in hand at all. There weren't that many of these made so I'm happy to have one in my collection. I never say no to a CZ.
Thanks for Watching!

Sweet find, I have a CZ27 made under Nazi occupation and does have the waffenamts. They kept making them until 1940. There were a very few of the 38's with waffenamts made very late in the war.

I bought one from a LGS last week. FWIW, SARCO has magazines for about $35.00 each and they work fine, although I suspect they are Triple K. The gun is very easy to disassemble for cleaning, mine was load with gunk. Just remove the grips and slide down the sideplate. Numrich has parts. A friend told me it looks like a Mauser 1914 with a drinking problem.

That is where I found my magazine at. It was actually an original though with a Finnish stamp.

I really enjoyed your video. I don't know anything about guns but the editing and history were spot on. I deleted all my inappropriate humor remarks except for this one… "I haven't held anything this uncomfortable in my hand since I was an altar boy."

My father acquired one of these in Germany during WW2. He "bought" it from a German civilian after the war was over. He said he couldn't remember exactly what he gave for it. It was either 9 or 11 American cigarettes.

Fast forwarding, amigo. So far behind. Lovely knife sir. I will look into channel, when time allows. Rare, now. Not pleasing, looking, auto, agreed. Functional, however. great history, and info. Trigger, hammer, is different. Nice, pistol. Peace from, Ky. John.

I scooped one at a show last week for $350, with original holster. Mine is in great shape. I nearly bought one last year for $700. Glad I didn't. Those were the only 2 I've ever seen.

I’ve been into milsurps for 9 years and this is the first time I’ve ever heard of this pistol! I kinda want one now. By the way, how did the m95 turn out?
@ReadinessReviews
@ReadinessReviews 3 года назад
The M95 is still a work in progress. The stock had some issues that need to be addressed but I just haven't had time lately. There weren't very many if these pistols made so they are pretty uncommon. I'm glad I ran across one. Thanks for watching!

I like my cz38. Not a fan of the trigger but it's a fun gun to shoot. Always gets looks at the range due to it's odd design

They are unique. Pretty good shooters though as long as you can stage the trigger.

Pretty neat. Not one that I was very familiar with. I like the design a lot, if they gave a little (ok maybe a lot) more thought to ergonomics and a better trigger pull, could really have been an excellent pistol.
@ReadinessReviews
@ReadinessReviews 3 года назад
It had potential. They made a reliable and simple design but dropped the ball a bit with the ergos.

The CZ38 belonging to the guy on Military Arms Channel has a very nice trigger pull according to him, but his pistol looks to be in much better condition than this one.
