Years ago the SKS use to be $100.00 in the box with all the Bayonet, Sling... and even all the heavy grease that needed to be cleaned off. For $1000.00 would rather buy a couple new AR's. Why I don't go to gun shows anymore!

How did it happen? Investors happened. Once a non enthusiast group gets involved all the prices skyrocket. It’s people who want profit from profit and then make more profit. They use their millions to buy up all the stock and turn around to sell them for more. Rinse and repeat that 3 or 4 times and you get a garbage gun for thousands more than its utility can provide. It happens with cars, homes, watches, and even graphics cards. You can always tell when your favorite hobby is going to explode when investors and business get involved. What’s going to be ruined next?
The number one rule about money is not getting emotional about the times you missed out. If it makes you sick that you didnt hit a 300% gain then you probably dont want to hear about the 3000% someone else made in that same amount of time. Focus on your winners, learn from your losers and if you missed out then you should be happy knowing somebody else made money.

This applies to so much now days. Its bullshit. If people buy things at the asking prices, then naturally the prices will never come down. The supply chain crises are a manufactured one blamed on covid roughly three years ago. Maybe getting closer to four now. When people finally stop buying prices will come down. On everything. I stopped buying. I really can't afford much. Not now. And I want to stick a finger in the eye.
Back in the day I bought 15,000 rounds of Turk 8mm, shot it in over a dozen Mauser bolt rifles with no problems for years. I had maybe two failures to fire, no case failures, used all but five thousand rounds of it (hoarded the rest) Dates ranged from 1935-1945. I agree with the Mosin assessment as being the cheapest to own and shoot still, I bought large numbers of these rifles both Finn, and Soviet, and stacked the ammo crates deep back during the happy time for milsurp collecting. Shot the hell out of them for years, never bought 8mm Lebel ammo, loaded it myself for the Berthier and Lebel rifles and carbines, I still have all the works packed away to load more should I need it.
It's effectively "gun control" by increasing the prices out of the reach of common people. Think about the machine gun control for a moment. Aren't they the same thing?
Gun show vendors are HIGH! They charge their customers for the space at the show because the people putting on the show charge way too much, because wherever they have it is trying to get rich off the show! Well, I boycott the shows or make a fake stamp to get in. The days of deals at gun shows is OVER! KEEP YOUR OVERPRICED GUNS!
Gun shows have always been expensive. Used to be good place to find parts. I've never bought a single firearm from a gunshow table. Once sold a gun to guy at a table about 6 months later ATF came knocking asking who I sold it to used in a robbery. I never sold a gun to a private party table again after that.
I have always wanted a Mini 14, but the nice shinny chrome one with wood stock and a under/over folder brace in the back... I think I started with that from the A-Team
