I felt bad for this MC. Being isolated is painful. The fact that exposing him, which would lead to further isolation, was used to blackmail him really made me dislike the characters who did that. The guy suffered so much that he literally killed himself to try and start over. At some point, his allies from the past should have come to terms with that and left him alone.
