Done the paddling pool thing this year already. It recovered by itself. It also slowly recovered from the drop spreader being jammed and putting too much fertiliser down. That will teach me to be lazy and not do the usual seaweed. Fab video each one gets better and better.

Between your tips and #premierlawns channel; I have drastically improved my lawn by scarifying, removing moss and seeding with shade tolerant and family and pet grass mixed. The initial dormant seeds from the cold weather have sprung to life. Now I give it seaweed and the left over 696 fertiliser. My lawn has never been so full or carpet like. Although weed grass is now a battle. Happy all the same ! thanks

Thanks for this. Looks great. Been in our new build for 7 years and really struggled with small lawn. Scarified, aerated, seeded and top soiled it myself last year but seems I’m back in the same place. The soil really isn’t great but I’m sure I can do better so just prepping for another go next weekend. We’ve got a hosepipe ban here so I’m having to wait for a bit of a forecast that will at least mean I get some water to it. I think I need some better fertiliser as well. If you had one main piece of advice for a new build lawn what would you suggest is most important. Thanks again. Subscribed and will check out your other videos.

I had new turf layed on new soil bed last year but it has shown drainage issues. The lawn is too spongy after rain. Apparently the Turf is pure clay and has gone hard now. I tried to use hollow tine aerator but it took too long as the soil was too hard. Then I sprinkled horticulture Sand. The drainage still doesn't feel improved. Couple of questions: 1. Is it the right approach for this issue? 2. How to airate with such a hard clay soil? 3. How much horticulture Sand I need to spread for 7m2 lawn? 4. How often do I need to repeat the process for drainage to get better?

Hi I moved into my property and at the time the lawn had just been put down and looked great. I am disabled so have to employ a gardener to cut my lawn in the back and side of the house. I don’t think you can actually call it a lawn in the back. There’s a massive bald patch and you can see a lot of gravel in areas. The rest of the garden is weeds. From daisys, buttercups, some type of creeping weed , moss plus a small leaved weed with tiny yellow flowers. My new puppy is firstly earring it all which worries me plus I want a nice lawn to sit out on. The lawn is uneven plus slopes down towards the house which gets extremely wet and has left damp marks of the brick work. Can you please help. A friend of mine is painting my fences and shed to make it pretty plus she has set me up with some plants and pretty pots but my grass is so bad I can’t sit out there it’s that bad. Thank you Claire.

Hi mate, what was the weather like for this? Presume the customer didn't do much in the way of watering but still came out pretty well! I was a bit unsure as it sounded like summer was a bad time to overseed (in Scotland granted so not really 'summer'). I've just put some seed down on a portion of the lawn and I'm watering to see if it takes or not, if it does I'll carry on with the rest of the lawn, if not I'm planning to try again in Autumn.

@GiovanniGiorgo
@GiovanniGiorgo 3 года назад
If you want to really improve the drainage, never add organic matter to the lawn, only add sand. Aerate it heavily, rake up the cores and topdress with sand. Your grass’s root cycling will make it’s own organic matter. Sand drains, organic retains. Great channel!
@tru35kill
@tru35kill 3 года назад
Hi, I'm having this problem at the moment, should I add sand directly after aerating?
@Bealoo
@Bealoo 3 года назад
Hey bryan @tru3Skill - I have got a new build with very heavy clay soil. I read (albeit online) that adding sand as a topdressing essentially creates a concrete material with clay based soils. Correct me if I'm wrong, just read that yes its good to add sand but only with crumbly (good) soil
@petertr2000
@petertr2000 3 года назад
@@Bealoo That's probably not true. But what is true is the amount of sand you need to make any difference to clay soil is enormous. Basically, top dressing just isn't going to help. Compost apparently will, as it gets taken down into the clay by worms, and is broken down under the ground. Long term process for sure, but that's fine.

However when I cut it, within an hour, one side become light brown and now nothing is growing on that side anymore... I racked it and overseeded 3days ago as i thought it might be grass clipping stopping it from growing again... would it be I cut my lawn too low or something?
@MrTuts4life
@MrTuts4life 3 года назад
I’m no expert on lawns or lawn care and have just laid my own 2 weeks ago, but from what it sounds like you’ve left it way too long and because the grass was so long not enough sunlight has been able to reach the bottom and ‘green’ the grass. A rule of thumb is never to take off more than 1/3 of the length of the grass in one cut. I laid mine 2 weeks ago and was going to wait 3 weeks before cutting but by the 14th day it was getting too long so I took some length off and it’s looking much better, if I were you I’d just keep watering and maybe put down some organic fertiliser. If you use non organic be very careful not to spread it too thickly otherwise you’ll burn your lawn
