I have 3 of their 65w equivalent and like it a lot. One minor issue - when charging an Apple Watch it does not detect it unless you disconnect and reconnect the cable in the Ugreen charger. Perhaps because it’s aimed at changing equipment with a higher amp draw.

I ordered this charger before I saw this video and was concerned about this 7W standby power. But the 7W consumption is only there for about 10 seconds after plugging it in. Then it drops below the threshold my powerplug can read (about 0.5w).

Actually I want to buy this charger but the issue that you mentioned is becoming the problem for many people . Hopefully this will be minor since it’s my factor of purchasing or not
@leonellthelion
@leonellthelion 2 года назад
It does that because it sets the appropriate charging speed everytime one device is plugged in or plugged out from any of its 4 ports. It's not a defect that's just how the charger is set to work given that it outputs different watts of charge depending on what or how many devices are using it.
@emersonovd.sikowski4965
@emersonovd.sikowski4965 2 года назад
Its natural on all GaN charger ,, its not a defect,,, it is normal because the GaN charger will automatic detect the distribution of wattage for multiple devices if theres is a new device being plug on ... even anker , baseus, mcdodo, ravpower,... will have the same issue the same way ,...

There is a big mistake in the video. It is not true that it does not support Huawei Super Charge, it supports it but only in the USB A port as written in the specifications. Of course to get it you have to use a cable that supports 5A like the original huawei cable with the purple inner plastic.

My biggest complain is that there is a USB Type A port. Would have loved one with 4 USB Type C ports. I see that there is one available with 2 USB type C ports and no USB type A but this one is never in stock and also 2 might still not be enough for me 3 or 4 would be better, then this would be my endgame charger ( until PD3.1 240W comes along). One charger for all my devices 🤩.

@@nastyscaper it doesn't get super hot "using" 100watts because that power is just passing thro onto the client device. Only the inefficiencies are turned into heat. @nastyscaper
@nastyscaper 2 года назад
You said it yourself. What causes heat is when watts are not used and are lost in a form of heat (it's actually a bit more complex than that but it's a good way to look at it) Assume the device is delivering 100 watts of power + 7 watts of power from it's idle power usage(as it's shown in the video where he pulls 100+ watts from the device). If it's heating... sure. That's a possibility. The power delivery isn't being done in a correct manner/with the correct components. You probably need better components for the job you're trying to do and those typically come in a bigger fize factor. HOWEVER he showed that the device stays under 40 Degrees Celcius. Therefore it's doing more than a decent job delivering it's power. Now assume the device is in idle mode and not delivering the extra 100 watts of power and just using the 7 watts. How in the hell do you think the device is going to run hotter than 40 degrees. Do you think the 7 watts are used less efficiently when it's not under a load?

Can you check something out on yours for me? Get something high power to C1, charging at 100 or 65 watts. Then plug in some empty cables to the rest of the ports. Does your charge rate on c1 drop even though nothing is connected to the other cords?

I don’t know about this charger, but I bought some Type-C to 3.5 adapters to sell in my shops. None of them works with any phone. I sell also Joyroom, Dudao, Baseus and some other brands - everything works. The Ugreen has higher wholesale price, worse packaging and doesn’t work. If you decide not to delete the comment, it would be good for your viewers to know.

4:21 You're measuring 7 "Watts" (correctly called VA) of reactive power in idle. An actual idle power of 7 Watts, for a modern charger, would be absolutely ridiculous and not even meet legal requirements for chargers of this type. No idea how you could just casually mention it and tell people to just not leave it plugged in. :D The actual idle power should be around 0.2 Watts. Which doesn't make for an awesome power factor, but in idle that's fairly ok. Anyway, you may wanna learn how to use/read your power supply correctly. Also, 100 VA reactive power during full load would make for a terrible power factor. Which really isn't that good. But according to this video, it actually doesn't have power factor correction, which I believe also doesn't meet legal requirements, but I guess that would explain the terrible power factor. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qzd1vqM-C8s.html You may wanna test if your power supply is set up correctly. You could try connecting a 60 W halogen light bulb or so to the power supply. Since it's an almost purely resistive load, you should measure close to 0 VA if everything is set up correclty.

I have this charger and it works on all my devices. I use the Type-C1 port for my laptop, the C2 for my Samsung phone, C3 for my Samsung Tab and the Type-A for my smaller devices (Samsung watch and Buds Pro). It really solved my charger conundrum 'cause now I only have to bring one charger for all. To set the expectation for buyers, take note that even if this is rated at 100 watts it does not guarantee that your device will get 100 watts of charge. That will depend on whether your device supports 100w charging and how many devices are connected to the charger at any time. Pretty solid charger tho.

Can you charge at 100W when a device is connected to C1 (or C2) and in the other ports you have plugged in cables (in the charger side) but not plugged in into anything else? Does the charger recognize that there's only one device charging or the fact that you have plugged in cables automatically distributes the charge?
@leonellthelion
@leonellthelion 2 года назад
I've been using this charger for awhile now and I think it does recognize which device is plugged because every time I detach or attach a device to it all those plugged in will do that 'charging' notification. But the output is fixed depending on how many devices are connected to the charger. Like when all ports are used then the Type-C1 only outputs at a max of 45watts (it splits the 100w in between the plugs) but it can go to as high as 100w (for Type-C1 only) when there's only one device charging and if that device 'supports' 100w charging.

I have had the Baseus 120W for a few days in order to use it for an Asus Zenbook which has a stock 100W bulky charger. Everything was fine for a few days until it started to get a really annoying coil whine and the laptop displayed an error message to use the original charger (and kept connecting and disconnecting). With the laptop on, I could notice a strange noise (simmilar to coil whine) inside the laptop as well, which really bugged me.

Hi Stephen I live in the UK and we use 3 pin sockets here, Earth, live and neutral so unless the charger came with a 3 pin adapter it wouldn't be viable. You would have to fit the two pin adapter to the charger then plug that into a 3 pin adapter for it work and having several devices plugged into that would be extremely dangerous. I wonder if the manufacturers have thought of this. The initial concept is a good idea but unfortunately not for us.

@gloveyourway2000
@gloveyourway2000 2 года назад
If you buy the "international version" of this charger, you should be able to buy a US (2 pin) to UK (3 pin) adapter. As for being "extremely dangerous"...how? The charger itself will be double insulated with no external metallic parts (noting the metallic pins are inserted into the wall, which you can't touch in normal operation), so you can't get a shock from the body of the charger (unless the chargers case is broken to the point where you can touch metallic parts inside the charger itself). Many chargers used for phones and tablets are sold without an earth pin (both in the UK and abroad). Heck the video showed the type C plug (very commonly found right across europe) has no earth pin connection...
@nastyscaper
@nastyscaper 2 года назад
How is that dagerous? In Canada we also habe a "3 pin system" with live earth and neutral. Not all devices have the earth "pin". That doesnt make the device dangerous. As long as it's well build and you dont go messing around in there.
