specs look good and at 419 is a great value but in this space you pay a premium for software not hardware IMO. Syno still the photos/drive/backup/remux king.
Yeah, the Ugreen software is good for a new product. It will need more development and features to compete with everything Synology can do. Competition is good as well.
I got my DXP6800 Pro and love it so far. I had a quick question. I have a lot of family photos and music I want to make available to all users on this NAS. So I created a shared folder for music as a admin and then gave r/w rights to all users but when I login with my general user account I can't see the shared folder with all picture, I can only see my personal folder and the same with music. I there a way to create a ALL Pics and ALL Music shared folder so everyone can access pics and music via the Ugreen apps?
I noticed that it has 10Ge connections. wouldn't that be overkill for the HDDs? (especially in RAID). I'm trying to determine if I need the Plus or regular 4 bay.
Different models have different ports. I'll be running my NAS on 10G soon, but 2.5G is probably plenty for everyone. 10G has other wiring considerations and such as well.
Hello! I have a question. I’m planning on ditching google photos and get myself one of these. My question is : since you can create user profiles. If two different users backup their photos, will they be stored in the same photo library ? Or will each user have their own ? For example say I have a 100 picture of a dog and my wife has 100 pictures of a cat, when I open the photos app. Will I see 200 pictures under my account ?
I have the old WD My Book Live NAS. There's only 1 bay. I guess you could call it a NAS. I bought it roughly 12/15yrs ago and surprisingly it still works well with the original hard drive. I mainly use it for backups of important documents, home videos, music, pictures. I can play home movies, music but regular movies it struggles. It's not really powerful enough for that. I have Plex on my Desktop PC and that's my main workhorse for Movies! Is the Ugreen powerful enough to play 4K Movies? Can Plex app be added? 🧑🏾🦲
I'm not sure on the specs of the Ugreen with the HDMI output. The spec sheet just says 4K. There isn't a native Plex app currently offered in their app app, but I suspect you could sideload. I expect to see much more apps coming natively in time.
