@@QuikTechSolutionsTony, I've seen (and reviewed) a couple of U-Green's products and they gave been 'top-notch.' I just hope the S/W evolves and they can provide some advanced features such as Samba-AD.

Really great video, Tony. I think you're spot on - the hardware is really hard to describe in terms of how premium it is - unlike anything I've ever seen in this space. The software definitely needs some work and I had major SMB issues that were very frustrating, but I am hopeful they'll get worked out and UGreen seems to be interested in capturing logs to fix it, etc. Hope they keep up with this!

Thanks for watching Frank. I really think Ugreen is onto something here. If they eventually get the software to a DSM level of maturity, I think they can take the #2 spot in the NAS market behind Synology. QNAP better keep their eyes on Ugreen. I have to dig a little deeper and explore more of the features, but my overall I’m impressed!

Excellent review. For the price of a Synology... I will keep an eye on this but I love all my Synology will do, the software is the secret sauce for me.

Thanks. I was being honest but fair at the same time. The hardware is very impressive. If Ugreen ever gets the software to a maturity level of a DSM, I can see it taking over the #2 spot in the NAS world behind Synology. Like I said in the video, this remains to be seen. Thanks for watching.

I am intrigued by this line of NAS boxen. It is impressive that the Kickstarter has raised >$3.5M with 43 days to go. I woukd definitely consider their 2-bay as a backup unit. Hopefully they will do some price adjustments.

I agree Jeremy. I’m thinking of using it as an offsite backup using rsync between my Synology and the Ugreen. Lots of exploring and testing to do. There’s also talk that other Operating Systems like Truenas or Unraid can be installed on the hardware. I’m also thinking of testing this, but not with the two mentioned here. Wink wink.

Great video! On price, does the competition come with a 10 gig card? Does that even the playing field at all. Desktop looks a lot like synology

I comment several times in my review about how it is similar. Certain portions of DSM are open source too.

Definitely see the similarities. I made reference to it as well in a clip that I ended up not using. Regarding the 10G card leveling playing field, not so sure about that. Have to keep in mind this product still has lots of proving to do. It is definitely promising. Thanks for watching and commenting.
