Thanks for watching. Great question! If the Apple TV is your only device, then you don’t need the universal remote. But for people who wish to control multiple devices, such as Blu-ray, Apple TV, the TV itself, and an AVR, then a universal remote control makes sense. Have a great day.
Hi! Current B&H employee here. If you get a chance, come back to the store to check out all the changes. Many of the departments have been updated, fixed, moved around, etc...
Oh yeah...thats absolutely great! i love the original usages of docker instances that increase the functionality of NAS devices substantially! this is a great example of that.
Loved this video, Tony - I've never used or even seen FreshRSS but am going to implement it now! BTW, loved the ID section of the Synology portion. I normally get it through SSH but that way is SO MUCH better.
Thanks for watching Frank. This was a fun video to make. I just got turned onto Freshrss last week via Jeremy Leik. It’s a great tool for me to keep the content I consume organized. I thought why not do a video comparing the install process on two different devices, plus my use case. Have a great day.
Tony, thanks for bringing FreshRSS to my attention. These kind of Docker containers are really useful because they can be accessed from anywhere on the local network with the device at hand. I can probably find a thousand videos on RU-vid that show how to install FreshRSS, but none mention how to use it let alone what the container actually does. Thanks!
Nice video but I have a question I have a configuration file made by my TP Link router and in that openvpn config file there is no redirect-gateway def1 like it's not commented or written on the file. So how can I add this command line and have all traffic go through my home network.
Still relevant in 2024, even though you can change the LAN address through the web interface now. I just replaced my Edgerouter X with a Gateway Max and this was helpful, thanks. And just in case anyone comes across this with a newer device, they changed the default SSH login to UN - root PW - ui
Hello Marley! Thanks for watching. Yes, you can connect a fax machine to the UCM6300. Here is a detailed video showing the steps. Please consider subscribing. Have a great day! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QakXS7T_L_k.htmlsi=-flIobgLCW4NVEnC
Thanks for watching. I used an HDMI cable. All the HDMI cable did was transport the video from the soundbar to the TV. Remember, the soundbar itself was in essence the Roku media player. The sound came directly from the soundbar. Hope this answers your question.
Curious with Android removing the l2tp as an option, and this video being a bit older, is there any possibility of updating this to utilizing ikev2/ipsec? I know about openVpn but I'd rather not have to rely on 3rd party apps, if at all possible.
Hey Mark, thanks for watching. Yes, Joe ran the “Learn Blue Iris” channel for a short time. I believe he’s moved on to other things at this time. I’ll let him know you were asking. Have a great day!
This is a long shot, but I've got my Synology NAS connected to a Unifi UDM SE that doesn't have any kind of support for graceful shutdown with a UPS currently. Would be cool to use Synology's UPS server feature to shut it down too. I don't know the innerworkings of how the UPS server sends a signal to other devices, but it seems doable to me.
Hey Tony what vms (video management system)would you recommend for home? I used uniview nvr before with uniview cameras it worked okay Im using synology now. I like it but Im guessing it works better with synology cameras. I kind of want to try milestone the free version up to cameras. Anything you would use with different cameras? Thanks P.S Great videos as always
Hello Marius! Thanks for watching commenting. So, I do like the build quality and image quality of the Synology cameras. However, I’m experiencing a small issue with the Synology cameras whereas they completely lose their night vision and go dark. I was able to rectify it temporarily by resetting the camera. It works for a while, then the issue returns. Seems like a software issue, but not 100% sure. I been using Amcrest cameras with Synology Surveillance Station for 2.5 years, no issues. Have a great day!
On my setup, You tube and live broadcast are always dropping the connection. In the Synology forums, Synology has stated that there is a known glitch but it has not been addressed. Do you have any advice why my connection drops?
Hi Tony. Thanks for the video. I'd like to host two WordPress websites. I'm running DSM 7.4. I've installed using script method. I believe this uses container manager. It appears both WordPress websites are set up on my nas. I used Synology ddns but it doesn't seem to let you use it for a second website. I would have to use a different ddns provider. I read somewhere online that you can add a cname through my DNS provider to access the second website. This is above my level of expertise and I'm not sure what direction to take. Could you provide some insight?
I feel like there aren't many unique Synology videos these days but this is the definition of it! Never thought to set up anything like this but really enjoyed it, great video, Tony!
Hi Frank. Thanks for watching. I appreciate your kind words. Most folks will say I am “unique” lol. Seriously though, coming from you means a lot. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a great day!
You just made my day. I was just contemplating my approach to doing this. I have an atem extreme iso with a hub and two drives for recordings. connected to each drive is a usb switch connecting the drives to my synology and the hub. this allows me to switch between both devices so that I can always have a drive on the atem for recording while I ingest the footage. In theory I can now add this to my workflow for atem recording while I backup and share a project from the other drive. Thank you.
Thx for watching and very happy to hear you can incorporate this into your existing workflow. Appreciate you and thanks for taking the time to share a comment.
Thanks for watching Jeremy. Agreed, I do too. Even though I focused on the Media professional, this can be used for IT data transfer, digital print media etc.
Thanks for watching Jay. I agree but also for productivity purposes as well especially with large file transfers. Plug in the drive and forget about it.
This is so cool. I didn’t know Synology supported this. With multiple videographers on our team ingesting footage, this would be perfect. Question: is there a notification I can send to Slack or email when the copy from USB copy is complete assuming the videographer is not logged into a computer?
Hello and thanks for watching. I’m glad you like the video. Great question by the way. That is one i’ll have to go back and do a little research to figure out if it can be done.
can't get past that echo, I read the description and title thought oh wow a router that will take all open wifi signals with internet and bridge them together. I believe that's what this video is about I only got to 37 seconds and couldn't handle the echo. but if this is the reasoning behind this video that's pretty cool.
Hi Steve, sorry about the echo early on. It was resolved almost immediately after you left. You are very close. It is a router that will take multiple cellular connections from different carriers and bring them together. The idea is to be able to stream over the Internet using only a wireless signal.
@@QuikTechSolutions They need to make one that does that same thing but also allows me to link up all 4 of my cell phone services and my home ISP and bridge them all together Idk what difference this router has maybe it uses the sim card or you wifi tether it but in that case just a wifi tether I wouldn't see why it would accept a home connection as well. I will voyage to your page again and scroll through till the echo stops and watch what you have to say. I have to say 32 years in building, trouble shooting, programming, exploiting that I've done I used to bridge 2 ISPs together back about 15 to 20 years ago I had ADSL and cable ran to one PC and bridge the connections together it was nice until the bill hit and wasn't worth the price. lol. Thanks for the reply and cheers
Im the extreme versions can route more inputs to the webcam output than the pro. All inputs are visible. I guess it’s because it’s a more powerful device.
I would tend to agree with your assessment. I haven’t updated my Extreme just yet, but I believe I saw the additional inputs you refer to during Aaron Parecki’s 9.5 update video. Thanks for stopping by. This was just a stream to test cellular bonding. Unfortunately, the Mint towers apparently became congested. ATT was also not performing well either but it was more the location, than congestion. Moved to a different room in the house and ran some tests. Mint improved very little. ATT improved significantly.
