Kids' shows have always been weird, but kids' shows in the late 90's/early 2000's were a whole other breed of weird. Amidst the weirdness, one show reigned supreme: and that show was "Uh Oh".

Probably the point to be honest... Shows like this normalize putting kids at competition with each other. The eating mayhem basically normalizes humiliation. Most tv is actually meant to condition humans into acting certain ways.

I remember that one with the alien disguised as a teenage boy, Marvin Marvin. Especially the episode with the chocolate addiction causing a toothache making him aggressive. My dad did not like the little he saw of it. I was mildly entertained by the episodes, even if I usually didn't like live-action series about school-age humans.

I was an audience member for the predecessor It’s Alive when I was 8 years old or so and got covered in in silly string by the Punisher. That is not a euphemism. And I got in, because my mom was friends for the set decorator for Hammy the Hamster. Ah yes, Canadian Children’s TV in the 90s.

I'm hella late on this video but I was on Uh Oh! They toured the country and auditioned kids at junior high schools. Basically just who could make the biggest fools of themselves in front of an audience. Naturally I was gifted in that department. It was great and I met Shaun Majumder and won a roots watch. :)

I think my favorite show that shows what you were talking about was called “destroy build destroy” where you would essentially blow up a structure, rebuild it, it would be judged and whoever got the best score would get to blow up the other contenders building. I still love how fun it looked and was to just watch. And I used to wish I was on it. Cause I thought i could build the sickest shit. And I wanted to blow up someone’s building like it was frickin minecraft.

nickelodeon in America always have shows like this consistently. the difference is that they NEVER stop, no matter how many bad ratings they get from it. literally, when one game show flops they take it off the air and then a year later they make another game show like the previous one with a slightly different name, set of rules, background, and they sometimes changed the host. And all the game shows consist of slime, kids, and weird (or stupid) game.

In Brazil we had the most absurd TV shows in 90's. There was one family show that aired sunday afternoon where there was a section called "Gugu's Bathtub", during wich beautiful women in bikinis wrestled inside a bathtub filled with mayonese to try and get hold of soaps that were hidden there. Again, this was not an adult show. It was a family show. haha

i can definitely relate to wanting to be on a kids tv show when i was younger. it was a british show called 50/50 that ran from 1997 - 2005 where 100 students from two different schools (hence the name) would compete with each other on inflatable assault courses that just looked so damn cool and fun back then
