The Icom IC-400 Pro and the IC-410 Pro are the Roll Royce of radios.

They are built using the Japanese Icom commercial chassis and components, they are the same hardware. This means they have the ability to handle high power outputs, making them even tougher when used as a 5W UHF citizens band radio
These radio are very configurable. You can set them up for any licence requirements, and change them as the licence requirements change. eg the Australian change from 40 channel UHF CB 25 Khz spacing (wide band), to 80 Channel 12.5 Khz spacing (Narrow Band).
This video briefly shows the ability of an Icom IC-400 Pro, that has been set up to the older 40 channel setup, can be changed to the new narrow band 80 channel set up (Australia), and it shows adjusting the power output to the max legal amount of 5 Watts.
This video is not designed to be a comprehensive guide to creating the .icf file to do this, nor does it go into detail. If this is a common ask I will do a different video for this purpose.
However I have no problem sharing the .icf file with anyone who has this radio, the cable and software. Just one thing to note, this file will not increase your radio power. I wont share files that are set up to increase past the legal limit of 5W

There is a small utility program which changes the number of channels in bank 1 that is locked on the Icom IC-400PRO (from memory). GREAT radios. Installed one in my mates 4WD - NEVER misses a beat!!

So I am looking at doing some maintenance work on my 400PRO and want to know the following: 1. Where do I get the power meter (surecom SW33)? 2. Where do I get the dummy load tester? 3. Where do I get the IC-400PRO Adjustment Software I already have the cloning/programming software and programming cable - used this for a while to program the channels etc :) Cheers - oh and great video mate :)

Hi JJ, does adjustment software exist for the IC-410Pro, or is the "CS-400Pro ADJ Rev 1.0" software adaptable? I've googled the IC-400Pro software and can't find it - if you have a link or can share the file, it'd be much appreciated. Cheers

I too can't find the Cs 400 pro adj software anywhere. There's one site but it wants an email to get put on a wait list.

Hi. That's a informative video. I would like to check/adjust the power of my radio. I noticed your laptop had 2 different programming tools, 1 for the power and 1 for the channels. Where can I find/buy that power adjusting software?

Awesome video, very handy! Great job putting this out there, can you tell me where to find the icf file? I have an icon 400 and a 440n and want to set them up similar to yours, one for scanning and one for convoy off road

Hey mate, great set up, love the "factory look" attitude! I was wondering what sort of magnetic mount do you have? Does not look like a 5/16 threaded type. I've recently acquired the 400 and mine has been modded to scan without the al foil hack. There is a link marked "HANG" on the front panel PCB next to the speaker. Solder that link and disable "HANGER ACTION" in the programming software. The panel comes off easily just by unscrewing to screws on the sides. As for the beep, there is a small trim pot inside of the mic socket on the radio that will adjust the beep volume.

Hi, I've got the 410pro, programming cable and dealer software and I have successfully programmed custom (approved ACMA) channels but I'm struggling to modify the adjust parameters to bring the power up to as close as I can to the legal 5W. The software I have doesn't look like the adjust software you have in the video. Am I missing something or does the V1.0 version do this from within the adjust menu?

I have had a few for a while, we use to have them on the farm, mixed with a few GMEs. They are a great unit, well made. Basically a commercial grade unit. The only negative is they aren't as user friendly as others, you need to memorise a lot of button sequences. And I dont like the need to earth the mic to scan. thats no easy sometimes in modern all plastic vehicle interiors.

Agreed, already looked at the internal mod for the mic earthing (What a strange move by ICOM) Yes, i'm coming from the GME TX3400. I know a lot of my friends that are really into comms like the ICOM and all commercial radios :) What a shame it doesn't come as a concealed unit. There is the 450, but it isn't as friendly i guess

Thanks for the video, very helpful as I’ve also got one of those radios..... Where can one source that program from and can u switch on/off functions of the radio? Eg: The Beep when U turn on the radio On.

Rob Mac there is software on the web, just Google “Icom IC-400 Pro programming software”. Yes you can turn off the start up beep. I didn’t bother, but it seems to annoy some people so they do.

@@jjsadv on mine that was similar there was a small volume pot inside the microphone cavity. You take out the mic RJ45 and look inside, a small flat heat can turn it down. Not sure if the 400 has this option but mine did and looks exactly the same.

I have an ex-mine radio, gme cm60 series. It still has the old mine channels on it still. I was wondering how I can reprogramme the unit to remove all these channel. I’ve tried searching for files and found nothing. Anything would be nice, thank you

Great video. .. I've just made an earthed mic hanger by mounting a clip on the end of a cigarette lighter plug. I'm having trouble finding an 80 ch icf file though . Any idea where I can find one ?

Here is what I used. I think the link expires in 2 weeks.. Just so you are aware, only adjust the sets to what your licence allows.. Anything else is very naughty... file.io/eP8zm3bUfsT1

@@jjsadv Hi - any chance of re-uploading both softwares? my old unit has just factory reset itself or something out of the blue and gone back to just 40ch. need to fix that and check all my other settings. still got my cable, but blowed if i can find my copies of the software anymore. been a good 10yrs since i last looked at this :). all the old links are dead or questionable.

Grate video I updated mine to 80ch only problem now I can’t turn off the startup beep. I have it on (Inhibit) but I doesn’t turn it off anymore. I programmed it back to 40ch and it lets me turn it off. Any ideas?

From memory if you have a start up message or name it will always beep?? Remove this and see what happens.

paul Squires the program that adjusts the power isn’t the same one that loads the channels. You will need to google the adjustment software.

Madskillzfpv it’s the limit for the licence on the band. There is a lot of good reasons to have this limit. When you give high power to the masses, all sorts of bad things can happen :).
