Hi, towards the end of the year I will get an Aciera f3 through a workshop liquidation. Your videos are therefore very interesting for me and the anticipation for the machine is increasing. Greetings from Germany
Congratulations, a very nice toolroom quality machine. For precision it needs 1) light loads - therefore light cuts with well-sharpened tools and 2) quite careful alignment and squaring of the spindles and the slides - therefore try to limit your use of the versatility of the machine because each time you set the table at an angle you need to take the time to re-align everything.
Stiffnes is most important so I use Dornas Weldon holders with a W20 shank. And I use the biggest milling cutter that the job can take. My HSS cutters range from dia 4 up to dia 40 and 50. The widia cutters have dia 40, 50 and 60 mm. I start the component on the bandsaw to within about 1 mm of the outer dimensions. With HSS cutters I start with cutting speed 50 m/min and cutting depth 0,25 mm, sometimes 0,5 mm. Finishing cutting speed up to 80 m/min and cutting depth 0,1 mm. After the final cut once more with same settings to catch any flexibility. With bigger components the widia cutters give a very nice surface quality on mild steel with cutting speed 160 m/min and 0,2 mm depth of cut; final cut depth 0,1 mm and cutting speed 250m/min.@@cellnot
