@@gusgone4527 In 1902 mankind had been earthbound for thousands of years. In 1969 a man walked on the moon. This happened in 67 years; less than one lifetime. The rate of change is indeed breathtaking.
@@gnolan4281 Agreed. The nature of the change is in flux too. The silicon chip has driven the "information age." 1964 brought us the first commercial Scanning Electron Microscope in Cambridge. The electron beam control led directly to electron beam lithography and hence micro-electronics and the silicon chip. Truly amazing advancements in so many fields. Nanotech is the next leap, It's use in medicine and engineering of biological organisms, ourselves included. Sadly at my age I'll miss the major benefits but can rest assured I've done my bit. 40 years research career.
Nice and clear crisp video of the refuelling of the F-35's . The 101 Squadron Voyager's refuelling tanker's are excellent Aeroplanes . Great control management and responsibility by the RAF operator conducting the engagement of the refuelling line . And great flight control by the Pilot's of the F- 35's to successfully engage . With best wishes . British Gibraltar UK Overseas Territory 🇬🇧.y
What was REALLY stunning is how modern that setup is on that refueling aircraft - that is just 100% pure brand new stuff - state of the art. no junk or bad stuff in sight. Starting to look like not running a carrier and having no air power for 10 years was worth the wait. I going to have to google more about the Voyager tanker setup - I not seen that layout and setup before - really nice. I wonder if they are going to take Gary Anderson for a ride? He would love to see the F35 B convert to hover and STOVL mode. I am sure he thinks that the Thunderbirds inspired this setup!
@@MetaView7 then China, Italy, India, Russia, UK, USA, Japan, South Korea are all working towards having ships at sea with aircraft abilities are wrong, dumb, and your witness and testimony here is greater, better, and to be taken over that long list of counties deploying air power at sea then? lol, pretty sure those rails make them very unstealthy...US spends 200 billion dollars making "stealth" aircraft, forgets they need weapons, weapons bay too small...stick a missile on the wing...jet has same radar cross section as F-18...job done....lol
@@patrickguinnane The F-18 wasn't designed with stealth in mind, the F-35 was. According to Brig. Gen. Scott Pleus put it "The radar cross-section of an F-18 is the radar cross-section of an F-18 - you can’t change that, Low observable technology, the ability to evade radar if you will, is something that has to be designed into the airplane from the very beginning."
Go forward, Great-Britain! Long live the Nato! Long live freedom! Down with all dictatorships and terrorists all around the world! Best wishes from Germany!
@@FirstDagger I mean, its not focused on BFM and close air to air combat, it focuses on stealth, strike and BVR/long range air to air. None of these things require large canopies or fast wide ranging head movement. While you are correct, it's like saying a ship is less good at controlled submerging than a submarine. Its correct, but they are both designed to do different things.
This is a brand new game. This is in fact the first ever 5th gen deployment with a full air wing. (12 jets is considered one full air wing). Current pilots have stated that the F35 when flying gives them MORE information then a AWACS. People have no idea what this advanced networking platform means. Think above is hype? Here is a actual pilots quote after flying a F35 - and he was NEAR laughing how the AWACS aircraft was trying to relay information when he ALREADY had better and more up to date information then the AWACS. quote: LtCol. Tucker “Cinco” Hamilton] A: *_ So the thing that always strikes me is the ability to take off as a you know four eight ten ship whatever._* *_It is and just how much information you have about the battlefield okay right like I don't need the AWACS anymore telling me a lot of information like I have more information than they do Wow. which is really quite phenomenal_* So what he is saying? Golly, I don't need the AWACS anymore - it is outdated. Another quote: *_really resonated with me was more info than the AWACS. now that's mind-blowing and again this thing is a game-changer right_* *_more info I mean because you remember the early days in f-18 dude you went out with your soda straw and you moved it left and right up and down to try to build a picture pixel by pixel. but now you're talking sounds like global_* Again, the pilot is realizing that the F35 gives him MORE and BETTER information then the AWACS. Another quote: [USMC LtCol. Dave “Chip” Berke] A: *_ If you were to just take all the sensors, on an f-35 and can't say what the bandwidth is and what the range is I'm not gonna tell you what they cover but if you just take all the sensors, and kind of draw them out I'm like how far they would reach and how wide in a band they would reach and what bands. that are in and lay them down and compare them to any other fighter in the world have F-35 anything else to include the f-22_* *_the amount of available information in different bands in different bandwidths and in different regimes. it is infinitely greater in an f-35 you have so much more information and then through fusion you're sharing and collaborating with all the other airplanes out there. it is impossible if you are a fourth gen to understand without seeing it from the inside and how much more awareness that you have_* Once again, we see pilots now beginning to realize that the F35 provides better and more information then a AWACS. and the big difference is the F35 can shoot back. And if you loose one, it only a small node in the flying network - the battle theater information system is thus redundant, and losing your AWACS will NOT matter since each flying F35 is a simple node in this flying network of information.

Gratifying to see the cooperation between these two great allies, and demonstration of western strength & resolve. Meanwhile in Canada, we have a vacuous and inept government which does not understand (amongst other things) the concept of deterrence.

This is awesome, also what's awesome was watching a spitfire and hurricane flying over the north downs, kent, this afternoon, three of the best planes ever designed in one afternoon
An excellent answer to those who bitch about the somewhat compromised range of the F-35B vs. other types: the fuel they take off with isn't necessarily the only fuel they'll get in flight.
Looks like a nice, stable refuelling platform. Nice change compared to some fighters which look like someone trying to put a leash on a cat when they get close to the drogue....
@@petersellers9219 yes, of course, I'm just saying it wouldn't need to be put of the carrier group. Britain has Ascension Isle, Falklands, Diego Garcia, Cyprus .. and the rest.. this (as it was a trial and filmed was probably out of South of England)
The QE has 18 F-35s on board, out of a possible 24. LOL 8 are RAF pilots. 10 are USMC pilots, and their ground crews. ( I think there are 240 US Marines on board.)
I've always wondered Why the US.Don't use B-52s and C130s and C-5 galaxy's for flying aircraft carriers.like they did with the x-15s and the x-1 like chuck Yeager and John Glen did.Have a powerful magnet that raises or lowers.from the aircraft as and could be turned on or off til needed.and of course could be refueled while attached to the host ship or in mid flight I'm awear that the refueling ship would have to take off.And hook up in mid flight before taking off.like a carrier takes off before the jets are aboard.
And yet there's still gonna be some moron or British-hater somewhere in this comments section claiming that HMS Queen Elizabeth's planes don't have sufficient range due to no carrier-borne tanker aircraft. Just because we don't have them actually ON the carriers doesn't mean we don't have any at all or that we necessarily need TO have them on said carriers, we have Voyagers and overseas bases all over the world to launch them from

Without a doubt, beautiful looking jets that have been sold to various nations at a ridiculous cost. I’m all for progress, but I’m also for spending taxpayers money wisely. @@eraldorh Nothing new under the sun. RAF roundels on aircraft deployed to the Far East later during WWII had the red inner circle painted white. Allegedly to avoid "someone" mistaking them for Japanese markings. Some also had bars added either side to mimic US markings. I guess in a tense situation where quick reactions are needed mistakes can happen.
