PLEASE! I know yanks speak English as a foreign language, but the plural of TRAINING is NOT 'A Training', but simply training. So you cannot have 'TrainingS'.!
The best fighting force in the world begins with production capacity, wars are pure attrition. If you can't produce you can't fight a battle for long. Thanks to successive governments since WW2 we have no production capacity left, precious little stockpile and certainly not enough revenue to maintain a credulous fight. In wartime our merchant fleet is what feeds the nation...we don't really have one anymore! Thank god we have Trident subs.
The UK should build at least 10 successor class nuclear attack subs. The Astute class subs have gone through a long process of working out the "bugs" in these boats, so a successor class would have a great, tested platform to start with and modify using the best current submarine technology that has been developed since the Astute class Astute-class program began in February 1986. That being said, the US should loan the UK the money necessary to build a successor class to the Astute class subs or commit to buying a few successor class attack subs for the US Navy...
A big BZ to not only just the crew of Carney but the entire battle group, even if it was a unusually long deployment. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
USS Carney is a Flight I ship in the Arliegh Burke class that was laid down over 30 years ago. I believe her combat performance has shown that even the oldest destroyers in active service are still very capable ships.
Not since Falklands War has a warship been under prolonged battle conditions. While Desert Storm had bouts of tension and threats, this ship was faced with a range of threats over a 8-month period. Lots to learn all navies. .
I think, he should have been honest, that all western navy forces have been run out of time. How can you fight without any supply ships? All these ships have no long durance time, because their main purpose was fighting an enemy on sea and not against land troops like in Yemen. High readyness doesn't say anything, because the scenarios have changed and the Navy can't react properly. Britain isn't rolling anything anymore!!!
