I had a great time camping in Norfolk/Suffolk in our Tesla Model 3. Items I took with me: kit.co/TechboyUK/tesla-model-3-accessories-inc-camping Also, the EV weatherproof granny charger campsite adaptor (Campsite and Marina Hook Ups) toughleads.co.uk/collections/ev-electric-vehicle-extension-leads/products/standalone-campsite-and-industrial-socket-adaptors-compatible-with-all-evs Want to buy a Tesla? ts.la/paul26905
It was really fun. I enjoyed it as much as my kids did! It's like being in a tent, but more comfortable and you don't have to pack anything away in the morning - you just put it all into the boot and fold up the rear seats to keep it secure.
Hello Paul. This is an amazing video, and thank you for sharing it. I currently have a Model 3 which is actually a company car, but I'm dying to actually try and go on a camping night one day. Feelin inspired right now. All the best to you and your family!
Hi, the links to all the equipment I use are in the video description and kit.co/TechboyUK/tesla-model-3-accessories-inc-camping I got the mattress for £50 from ebay. The latest version of it is here amzn.to/3XiAr0V - I highly recommend it!🙂
The first campsite I tried was part of a large chain. Their booking form didn't have specific categories - none of which fitted sleeping in a car. So I called them and they said that sleeping in a car is not allowed on any of their sites... I don't know why, as they allow campervans and if you look on RU-vid, a lot of people sleep in cars in an organised manner. So I booked with another (independent) campsite where they had the option of a pitch with electricity, so I booked that for 1 night. The next day, I booked it again and the owner called me to confirm the booking, noting that I had just stayed there. I told him that I would be sleeping in my car, explaining that I had an inflatable mattress, curtains, etc. and he was fine with that.
Hi @Paul, thanks for the great video. I have a few Qs if you can answer: - is there any different to buying the adapter that you have shown versus the 16a blue adapter from Tesla shop? - did you have to lower the charge/power for the car from Tesla app/screen while connecting to these camp site’s electric setup? Thanks for sharing your experience!
1) I didn't know about the official Tesla one! 🙂 The one I have (toughleads.co.uk/collections/ev-electric-vehicle-extension-leads/products/standalone-campsite-and-industrial-socket-adaptors-compatible-with-all-evs) is cheaper, longer and connects via a 3 pin adapter, so is more versatile. 2) No, the car will alter the input automatically. You can see it in the app and on the screen. Are you planning to go camping in your Tesla? I'd love to hear how it goes 👍
Hi@@TechboyUK, for some reasons my reply comment wasn't posted yesterday. Thanks for sharing the details. I'm looking to camp and cover some nc500 areas by the end of Oct. I'm getting in touch with the campsites. Two of them have said they will charge 50p per x kw. Did you have to pay for electric charging on top of paying for the pitch for electricity?
@@Newuser-il7lw The NC500 will be great. I'd like to do it one day. My dad did it on his motorbike a few years ago. I stayed here sizewell-lettings.co.uk/ I didn't pay any extra for the electricity and it wasn't metered. It does very by each campsite though.
@@TechboyUK I tried to order tesmat privacy product but even after 2 days no response from them on any platform FB, Instagram, or email. I had to dispute the transaction via my bank which worked luckily. Their social activity is dead post 2021. Any idea about alternatives?
