One of the most intense, dramatic, technically badass things ever produced! Jobson and Bozzio with the technical proficiency and discipline of Zappa under there belt...... without peer!

John, this is UK's 2nd & unfortunately last studio album. A great track from a great album, Eddie Jobson is magnificent & new drummer Terry Bozzio is so amazingly skillful. Definitely listen to the entire album. Their self titled debut album from '78 with Alan Holdsworth on guitars & Bill Bruford (ex Yes, King Crimson) on drums joining Jobson & Wetton (who went on to form Asia a few years later) is considered one of the greatest prog rock albums of all time. You must check out the opening suite: "In the dead of night/By the light of day/Presto Vivace & reprise" it is stunningly brilliant. Also "Alaska/Time to kill" & "Nevermore" are extraordinary. Cheers

The UK debut with In the Dead of Night, Nevermore, Mental Medication is indeed on of the greatest prog albums along with Genesis' Trick of the Tail and Yes' Fragile.

This is my first time hearing this song as well and I was blown away too. So cool to share the experience with you! I've heard some U.K. in my younger days but didn't like it. I guess I wasn't ready for them at that point. My goodness, what I've been missing, fantastic!

You know I was about 14 when this album came out and it's been awhile since I've listened to it. I'd say Jobson's performance here is as strong as Keith Emerson's. It's exciting and we'll constructed.

THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD...One of U.K's best songs...You're one of the rare reactors that listen to more obscure tracks...The tempo change at 5:30 is what makes this song prog...Bozzio and Jobson are BEAST!

Although this is a good track UK’s best known track is “In The Dead of Night” from the album U.K. which was actually released as a single too.

Also, many will say you should listen to "In the Dead of Night," (and you should), but if you want to hear Holdsworth and Jobson really tear it up, play "Nevermore" from that first album.

Another great performance from that cute little drummer. Very ELP like and that ain't a bad thing. I saw this version of the band open for Jethro Tull but it's really the original incarnation of UK you need to hear. I was lucky enough to have seen them the previous year at a concert at Penns Landing. Losing Holdsworth and Bruford is like the Black Knight losing his limbs. But this is still a magnificent performance!!

Hi John. The origins of prog rock (as far as I know) were with King Crimson 'In The Court of the Crimson King' in 1969 - a brilliant album. Wetton was in Crimson in the 1970s. Bozzio played with Zappa for several years. Jobson also worked with Zappa briefly + Roxy Music + Curved Air. Gazza (comment below) has some good info for you.

I was lucky to have been turned on to U.K. As a teen. It’s a bit sad to me that the band seems to have become a bit obscure these days because they were absolutely fantastic. Jobson was a monster, he played in Jethro Tull for a while, their album “A” remains one of my favorites because of his amazing talent.

Speaking of longer songs, I would very much appreciate you doing Utopia 'Utopian Theme' (first album '74) @ 14+ min it rocks, guitar bass 2 keyboards, drums. Vocals come in half way. Kick-Ass tune. Not too proggy but grabs ya all the way through. Thank you, and liken your show.

Regarding the lyrics I think it has no deeper meaning than that of a hitman thinking of retiring maybe(?) The whole album 'Danger Money' having that kind of concept, like some kind of James bond type character. Wonderful album! Loved it since it came out, and espcially this song. Really outstanding progressive rock in its prime!

As I was making my dinner: Banks & Fripp & Blackmore had peripherals that were the true geniuses. It is all incestrial. If Robert Fripp can produce Daryl Hall & Peter Gabriel solo albums that were on hold for 3 years. 3 years Between 1977 and when my conscience woke up 1980. Asia & Rainbow as strong and influential cultural background music. Then everything dies between 1988-1991. He’s the dude in the diaper. That’s when I discover the most disrespected man in music. Gary Chiver. Standing on the verge of getting it on. He, not George Clinton, kept the P-Funk all Stars together as a cohesive unit for at least 15 years.

Live at Penns Landing or the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland were incredible. 1st iteration of band, playing 1st and 2nd album stuff. Plus a couple Bruford/Holdsworth songs. To my ears, this band is better live!

Cleveland Agora….listen to the live track of this from the original lineup with Bruford and Holdsworth……makes this seem….pedestrian.
