Thank you for providing the solution and part number. Had my aircon regassed and it didn't work. Watched your video, £3 off eBay for the relay and it's fixed the problem 👍
Ha did it. It didn’t work at first BUT the following day it kicked in. Must have been a turn it off/turn it on again moment. Well done. I’m very pleased.
Good video. I put a new relay this afternoon. No change. Still as warm as an over. My civic is 2010 and I can’t see those pipes. Might stick it in to the garage.
Thanks for the tip, on the 6th gen EK same issue, crappy OMRON relais making A/C switch off/on all the time. I have replaced my A/C pump and condensor after 10 years. So when someone buys an 8th gen, make sure this has been already replaced, otherwise you will have to.
tnx for the video, very helpful!! The AC have worked intermittent for the last 6 month or so, I have a AC pressure checker so I knew the system was full, looked at the ac compressor and noted that the magnetic clutch did not engage, opened fuse compartment and knocked on the suggested relay and immediately the compressor engaged and cool air came out in the air went! :) :) New realy ordered as to your suggestion!
Really helpful video thanks. I have this exact same model of civic but 09.i have had the condenser replaced a few years ago. Today my aircon has gone warm again though it seems to have kicked in when we went up a hill. I can hear the relay click when ac turned on off, it's original and some of the plastic top has broken prob when I hit last time but guessing it's OK. I pressed the valves in and gas shot out. When I press ac button fan seems to engage but doesn't sound normal and air is warm. Any immediate ideas?
It’s mental, I phoned Honda parts department and they want 30 pounds for a new relay! Ordered one off Amazon for 6 pounds. Fingers crossed that’s it’s just the relay, when I turn on the AC in the car, I cannot hear any noise coming from the engine bay ie the AC compressor working.
Do u need to replace the relay only if the fans are not turning on when u press the AC button? My fans are working, but warm air is blowing, meaning I just need to recharge the gas?
My car has sat for 5 years. I now put it back on the road but the ac compressor dont run and I think it is low on refridgerant. Can I add refrigerant and not be worried about doing more harm than good. It is a 2004 honda covic SiR.
Hi, I checked the fuse and relay and compressor still doesn't rotate. I have also had the system regassed and mechanic said there's no leak. What do you think the problem is? Compressor siezed or bar condenser? Thanks in advance!
I've checked the fuse and relay on my GFs 2009 Civic. Removing and replacing either with aircon on makes a noticeable 'clunk' from the compressor. Compressor external pulley permanently rotates so presumably internal clutch? System does have gas but I don't have a pressure tester. This problem seems to occur after non-operation and sometimes comes back. Any suggestions before I buy a pressure gauge and gas as I suspect gas maybe OK?
Hi mate, my AC just stopped blowing cold air when I was on M25. I was going about 85m/h so do you think this might have caused the AC to fail? Anyway I'll try your suggestions and see what happens. One question though, don't you need to drain the system with a vacuum first? Thanks in advance!
Julius Desbruslais Check the relay he pointed out in the video. If it's made by Omron, that's the original that Honda basically admitted isn't good enough. You need the upgraded relay made by Mitsuba. Search on Ebay. I have been through this whole process in the last month! 👍🏻
Mate I bought the car recently with no ac working. So I went to Kwik fit had the ac gas refilled ,but with in one day it's all gone. Now where do I go .any help would be greatly appreciated
UK versions of the civic look funny, only the engine compartment is similar. You dont want to run into what I have intermittant AC which the relay doesnt fix. Each mechanic tries to recharge system and charges you standard fees and system doesnt act up when they have it.
Hi mate... I know this is an old post now but having the same issue. Just bought the value kit and going to buy the gas today. How many bottles did you go through in the 5minute recharge you mentioned in the video? My system is empty so wondered how many bottles I'd need to top it up
@@Cjrelectrical thank you. What sort of PSI level do I need to reach for stability? Is the 30/35 you had in the video sufficient. 🤞🏽 This works.. Pinning my hopes on this gem of video
You are an absolute legend. I have been trying to wrap my head around trying to figure out why mine doesnt work. My car behaves exactly like you described. I will be following the steps as u instructed. However, is it absolutely necessary to change the relay? or is it something you changed as a precaution?
The garage I took my civic to just re gassed mine the 2nd time with double UV dye. Before, they did a vacuum and pressure test and all held for 45min + UV dye not showing any leaks. The relay was already replaced, maybe the high and low valves are not functioning ?
Pressure switch should work since the compressor stops working once the gas have escaped and engages perfectly once re-gassed. Correct me if I am wrong.
Yes if the compressor is engaging with full gas then yes the high pressure switch is fine You definitely have a leak I’m guessing it’s on the 2 valves I had to replace.
Trying everywhere to find the part, but i can't find the exact one. Everything i found is almost identical but the mounting holes are slightly different
Hello mate I've tryed everything with no luck. Do you know how to replace the pressure sensor as I think this might be causing the compressor to not start up?
Yes drain the system and there’s a sensor in the pipe next to the drivers headlight it has an electrical plug if you unplug it and bridge the connection it will act as if the switch is pressed and it should engage the compressor clutch .
@@Cjrelectrical Thank you, I didn't see your reply until now. It ran out of gas (probably you assumed I refilled it too) so I am reviewing your video again to learn. Really helpful!
Old Skool Chills I will add a description of parts used in the info box as for a regas the gas has escaped for a reason, have a look around the a/c pipes or condenser for signs of leaking , and definitely change the valve cores on the high and low gas ports .
Thank you very much. It's people like yourself who help people like me in saving money and time. I've only just got the car today and will check what you mention. The Gas is about £40 per bottle from Halfords though so not cheap.
Old Skool Chills that's okay any more questions fire away , yeah I buy it when it's 3 for 2 , remember every empty you take back they will refund you £10 👍🏻
Old Skool Chills unfortunately if your not mechanically minded I wouldn't tackle it , having said that it's not impossible , it's a front bumper off job which is a series of clips and screws to gain access to the condenser then it's a case of unbolting the pipe work replace all the o rings etc and regass . Ideally you want the system vacuum pumping out so it holds pressure then purg with nitrogen to check for leakes the regass .
Malcolm stephenson if you have gas I suggest a new relay for the compressor or low pressure switch . Do a google search lots on the net about it , as for the valve cores just put valve Cores in ebay search there all universal in A/C systems .
The cjrshop I put a new modified relay in before it was gassed last time as it had the troublesome honda one fitted I'm thinking there is a leak somewhere but not sure if uv dye was added as it was done at mates rates Like I say they said it held a vacumn when it was gassed last time
