Interest rates have gone up to 4.25% - their highest level in 15 years.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News...)
But although the Bank of England warned that inflation was stubbornly high - they said the economy was getting stronger.
The bank's governor, Andrew Bailey, dismissed suggestions that there could be a possible repeat of the 2008 financial crisis, insisting that UK banks are robust.

It's crazy what the economic outlook looks like. Early stages of a recession, layoffs, people leaving, because we're tired. I wonder what the economy would morph into. Has anybody been making any profits from the market in the current economic market? My money isn't even safe in the bank. SVB just collapsed. What's next? Please, anybody with tips on how I can get started in the stock market, I'll appreciate.

Concentrate on two main objectives. First, keep yourself safe by knowing when to sell stocks in order to limit losses and maximize gains. Second, get ready to benefit from market changes. I advise consulting a CFP or other professional for advice.

@spartacusforlife1508 Год назад
@@midlifecarsis6420 this is not only the Bank of England at fault. It is the unwillingness of " governments " to tackle the corrupt form of capitalism that dominates us. I am not anti capitalist what I am against is that it simply doesn't work for the vast majority of us now simply because there is little to no regulation controlling it. It literally, as an economic system, makes no sense. It is killing off small businesses. It leaves the vast majority of us with little to no disposable income to spend on goods that kept small businesses afloat. It has allowed the banking system to create a debt system which, again, decreases the amount of disposable income. You have a market system , which is essentially a casino, that decides what governments economic policy should be. Governments allow corporations to decide how much tax they should cough up by creating tax loopholes you can ride a coach and horses through. And just published, we have discovered that over 150 ex u.k. m.p.'s have taken up corporate positions, after they left, for corporations they helped create legislation in favour of. The system is not only economically indefensible it is corrupt and along with it governmental oversight. I only have an o'level in economics but if I can work this out what does it say about economists. Are they simply unable to see the whole picture? I doubt it. As an example look to how the UK economic forecasts for each year were calculated. They predicted a yearly average growth of 2.5% it averaged just over 1%. They haven't been right once

The Availability of Money is the supply, the increased spending is the Demand. The current heated market in the U.K. will need to continue to chase the money supply for inflation to stabilize. In short, try growing a third leg to maintain the current U.K. goals, or else the currency will continue to devalue+inflation.

Such stupidity to raise rates. Inflation we are seeing is on basic commodities like food and energy. Increasing rates won’t bring them down as they are increased because of supply chain and macro market conditions namely the ukraine and Russia war. All increases to the base rate will do is squeeze homeowners and mortgage holders.

Imagine calling SVB or Signature major international banks 🤣 Can you stop comparing what happened with SVB to the 2008 GFC, because they really do have nothing to do with each other. I really enjoyed you guest coming on to essentially repeat "I don't know" over and over. Maybe not the best choice.

BoE: "We need to raise rates to control inflation." Also BoE: "We can't control inflation." So why raise interest rates anyway if these inflationary pressures are external? Why not just admit that you're raising them as a prop so the GBP doesn't fall against the USD?

Why is inflation so high in India? CPI food index rose to 5.9 per cent in Jan'23 from 4.2 per cent in Dec'22, on YoY basis. Cereals and product-led food inflation reached *16.1 per cent in January 2023 from 13.8 per cent in December 2022.* Fantastic news! 🤣

Now Shebaz Sharif and his Alliance oppressive rulling on Pakistani people’s. Please rise your voice to protect innocent Pakistan's from their brutal rulling. Pakistani courts are also not inpartial. Courts are also punishing the innocent Pakistani people by favoring the unjust torture of the oppressive government.

Stop blaming Brexit. The problem was BJ and his lack of negotiating a decent deal for the UK trading. He continuously postponed the meeting and offered absolutely nothing in our favour because he was against us coming out of the EU. And look at what else BJ has done...lying about his parting during lockdown...etc.
