UK Medical Weed Community Latest Microseed Problem & My Thoughts 

As someone with good experience growing, I need to mention something important: Hermaphroditism, which is where females are stressed enough to produce both male and female parts (with the absence of an actual male), is a genetic trait. It cannot be completely bred out, however for the most part it would be a non-issue due to the extremely low chance of such a thing happening if the breeder has put some effort into: 1) Breeding out the trait as much as possible (usually by killing any plants with signs of the condition). 2) Heavily stress-testing the strains, where many plants are stressed to see if the hermaphrodite traits show up. I haven't come across seeds, though I'm a new patient here despite using cannabis for over a decade, yet I have to make a factual statement (not opinion): if anyone is finding any signs of hermaphroditism in their bud, it means that facility is acting worse than a home-grower, and with even less knowledge. They are doing something way, way off the books in order to stress the plants beyond recognition. I've spoken to a good number of people working in legal facilities, in America, growing far more cannabis than the facilities providing medicine for us - for seeds of any kind to be an issue is very, very shameful for the provider and immediately would put that entire brand on a blacklist for me. There's just no reason that should ever happen with all the efforts dedicated breeders have been putting in to prevent it.

I ahve been harassing the home office and my mp to try get them to allow me to grow my medication. The quality for the medical cannabis is the Uk is a terrible. The more people that contact their mp the more chance they will get fed up and fix the laws around medical cannabis

I've had the lot420 gelato and orange cake, GK pave and mod gas, miracle valley black garlic, all the pure sunfarms, berry punch, sherbet sunset, sourdough and the cheap gelato with no issues.

With triploids being the latest development in cannabis it won't be long before seeds aren't a problem anymore. Still not good finding them in the medical stuff though.

One easy solution is switching to vaping. Having medication and setting fire to it and inhaling poisons along with the medicine seems bonkers to me, but each to their own :) Full on seed in my Pave S1 today. Any stress on plants can cause them to hermaphrodite slightly. Making them go sex mad and only grow flowers waiting for pollen is a form of stress, the rare seed is likely. Def needs to be reported to clinic and the pharmacy and the grower if the details are there tho.

As for seeds i never found any in the last 2.5 years i have been a medical patient, except when i get the strain Wild Thailand from Lumir which is seasonal and grown outdoors from what i read on Discord. Each 10g pot always has 5-6 big dark ones.

Never had the problem of micro seeds just huge hand grenades we used to get back in the day, blow up like a wee bomb. Plants have meristematic cells. Which are kind of like stem cells in humans, when we are still forming in the womb. This is the reason why we can root cuttings from a section of stem. The meristematic cells, which don't have a defined role yet. Will start becoming root cells, and searching for food. The same thing can happen when a female plant is stressed. It will use those meristematic cells to form male flowers to insure the next generation. So one plant can have independent male and female flowers, enabling it to produce its own seeds without the need for any other male plant to exist. Tomatoes on the other hand are what's commonly called perfectly flowered. They have both male, and female parts within the same flower, allowing them to pollinate themselves as the flower opens. That's why they are easy to cross, and why you can save seeds from any heirloom tomatoes. Find one you like, and you can grow them for free for the rest of your life. What's most likely happening in these medical grows, is one of two things. They are pushing the plants too hard, resulting in a % herming. Or they messed up their environmental controls, and managed to stress them into herming. There could be zero male plants within fifty miles, and this would still happen.

Great vid. Would love to share some pics with you if possible. I did try complaining about mine to LOT420, as there were 100s in mine. They simply replied, denying it was there, saying it was fine when they tested it. As such, i steer from their brand completely now. I agree 1 or 2 normal seeds here and there would be fine. I struggle with dexterity through the winter months, so was hard to pick through the amount i had.

Nothing to say yet on micro seeds but, damn I remember back in the 90s getting it from the streets and having fully formed seeds, back when I was young, I even remember growing from these seeds on my windowsill and my mum being oblivious, watering it for me lol. Kady, as always you are awesome.

no. there are people that grow weed all over the world and for the most part grow weed without any seed. its easy to over look this in a gift . but not when paying for it . there is something wrong with the way nthey are doing things and need to sort it out or seeds in your weed will become the norm.

I started prescription weed in 2020 and I'm on bm cos the quality is horrible and somes nearly 300 an oz

What do you expect for £6.50 a g Top shelf or bottom as the price suggests My experience of this is that med patients get their prescription sell it and get decent stuff to put in the tubs

You know I've had several deliveries of medicinal canabis & I've never had any problems with quality of stock let alone seeds. Alway 100% better then the stuff on street 👌

I think one of the arguments is that why are seeds so common in MC when ive rarely had a seed in BM since the 90's brick weed. Yes, ive seen the odd one occasionally in BM but never multiple in the same draw.

Sorry Kady it’s nothing to do with males and females at the same site it’s the genetics having herm traits and will produce pollen from stress or late flower etc can be missed in big grows gelato and cookie strains are well known to herm even in best environments unfortunately

As someone who as grow cannabis in the UK over 25yr & been arrested made homeless ect. I have grown & breed literally 1000's of strains in this time. Micro seeds are the result of sterile females plants. These plants produce small white seed's that are not viable. Hermi seed it different. This is caused by a plants ethylene Hormone lever or the ethylene lever in plants around the cannabis plant causing the plant to change it's expression. The ethylene produced by a plants is a gas hormone often used to ripen fruit commercially . A plants level can changed because of a number of factor's including age, environment stress or companion plants like tomatoes producing high levels of ethylene. The reason it's found in modern strains is because most are breed from plants that were from the middle lever of ethylene producing plant aka plant that produce then stop like a dripping tap of ethylene Hormone. Normal from a bag seed or a selfed (hermaphrodite plant) that breed with itself. Strains like chem91, for example were from a hermaphrodite bud from a walking dead concert. Summa of Summa seeds sold a lot of late stress induced hermi like Amnesia from a bud of Neville Schonmaker at a cannabis cup, lavender, ect that he selfed naturally himself. DJ short bread using hermi plants also but used hermi males in his blueberry strain. These days we know a lot more and breed away from these traits to prevent micro seeds ect using silver thiosphate solution (STS) & silver nitrate (SN) but ones breed into a strain it not easy to remove. Anyway hope that helped people understand what is going on.

You will only get seed with pollen. 1 tiny male flower approx 3mm long is enough to pollinate 34 plants. The grower has got a pollen problem that will last upto 3 yrs without a proper deep clean absolutely everywhere.

Found a seed in my last script in my lot420 gelato.. the absolute daddy of all seeds lol still have it somewhere..

I’ve noticed, recently that I’ll find the odd tiny seed in my weed. It’s always in the bud and I either find it when I grind and put in joint and throw aside or the obvious, I start smoking and taste the nasty burnt seed. Thankfully, it’s only been a few times . Oh, I’m talking about street dealers on my end. I’m not a patient yet but if my dog don’t fuck off and leave me alone, I may be 1 soon and not a medical cannabis patient.

Ive done the Mod gas , PaveS1, Lot420gelato33 recently, not a single seed, excellent quality, my only gripe, Is dryness sometimes, but a hydrastone, and some boveda packs sort that out

Personally not a problem ,, Just a case of accurate timing on how long you let the grow go ( 2-3 days between cutting plant can be everything) P.S Kady have you never smoked Jamaican bush weed? love the crack and pop of a seed and the taste is not so bad.... i have grown these seeds in the past... BUT otherwise have not found any and i would be very surprised with these strains !!! Sounds like malicious malware...

I don’t really understand why someone with no actual knowledge of breeding and plant genetics is lecturing us about seeds? You should read up about it properly so you understand it. No offence meant, but it would be a bit like me being a football pundit.

they are not seeds they're ovules I've seen this in ALL weed uk and holland and cali packs, for over 12 years, u lot just ain't looking hard enough or don't know what ur looking for. THEY'RE IN ALL WEED.

Hermaphrodites are a result of poor genetic selection, good genetics will not ever herm under any kind of stress 👊💚

m8 im not here to diss what your sayin but some things just aint true. plants can only produce seeds when pollenated , plants dont carry both male and female parts. feminised plants when stressed will hermie on ya and pollenate its self. But most cannabis plants will have what you think are micro seeds but they are infact just the embryo. if you are seeing seeds bigger than say 1mm then that plants been pollentaed by another in the grow. takes little over 1 month to get fully formed seeds and weed plants do actually need pollen to produce seeds as cloning is completely different. and its not only male plants that are the pollenators , in this case i know the seeds ppl are getting in there medicine will be from a female plant that turned hermaphrodite due to stress as any feminised plant from feminised seeds will change sex when stressed. cloning will not stop pollenation either pal because any stress on that clone and it will do the exact same thing. all feminised seeds are produced by stressing a female and pollenating another female with the hermie pollen and that will produce 95% feminised seeds but any stress and they will revert back to what they came from
