It's meant to help make the pennies standout more and cover the gaps in between the pennies so the epoxy doesn't potentially leak through the floor and reduce the amount of epoxy needed to cover the floor
I was thinking of adding in a few from other countries that look similar like Canada and the US have similar pennies. Then see if you can find the odd ones.
Lot more expensive... At minimum silver is 5x more cost than a penny and 5ps are smaller... so you're looking at needing more to cover the same area...
I had this idea ten years ago. I actually wanted to do a table top and the front of my fireplace too. I'm definitely going to complete my idea now that I've seen this
@@Twitter_Posts I think they did a great job just as is and if you really think it should have been done any other way please do tag me in your video cos I would love to also see your endeavour ☆
JHOPEisCUTE no one.... they’re just trying to say that doing that by yourself despite £270 going on the floor in change, it will still be cheaper than someone coming to install flooring or tiles for you. (Also Army 😊)
Resin is ridiculously priced but yeah minus that and grout and the glue used to stick the pennies down and the gloves and the float... probably still cheaper
At first I thought it was stupid and a waste of money, but by day 3 I understood it's appeal and how it's such a beautiful and unique thing to have. Plus I really liked the appeal of the shiny shiny coins on the floor. Kinda like glitter!
Child: mom I want to go on my senior class trip Mom: how much is it Child: $270 Mom: do u think I got $270 just laying around Child: looks down at the floor...🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
@@stevethea5250 - Come on Steve! 27,000 pennies made up the floor. 100 pennies in 1 pound (£), so that's £270. Using XE's online currency converter, that's $340 USD by today's conversion rates.
cat owner can’t let t-series win. I work night and day to support the cause. Don’t have time to shower. Barely have time to write this comment before I return to the endless battle.
I saw this like 35 years ago & loved it! I've been waiting for someone to do a video - thanks! I'm hoping my new hubby will love it for our spare bathroom. 😉
I love it! Simple. Beautiful. Unique. And there's a sentimental energy to it. The thought of all the hands those coins passed through over time. Very cool.
what assholes! I found your comment really funny. And I don`t care if you did steal it. Which I will say You did NOT steal this comment. Everyone is just trying to be fucking assholes.
So you're saying they will only shoot you if you fight back? xD If they point a gun at you they can pull the trigger and safe themselves trouble by not having you call the cops afterwards.
Toaster Head would you rob someone with a gun? I'm gonna go ahead and say you would not. You are a rational and mentally stable person. A person that breaks into your house and robs you at gun point is not mentally stable. Is it safe bet to say that person is not capable of making rational decisions. This is why people in America have the 2nd amendment. The 2nd amendment is there so law abiding citizens can protect themselves. Gun control will not work because it will only take guns away from law abiding citizens. Think about it bag guys are not gonna turn in their guns. Why would they? Their bad guys. I wanna apologize because I've been watching a lot of anti gun control videos.
How is the floor holding up to foot traffic? Legit question. I figure it's been 2 years I would like to see a follow up of the condition. Probably will never see an answer, but if I do I would appreciate it. I like the idea.
I am actually wondering if this is legal in UK? In Germany you can get fined for damaging, destroying or wasting cash. Like for anything that would permanently take the cash out of circulation. Looking fine, though :)
I was wondering the same too, I'm pretty sure it's against the law to remove money from the economy. Still, I don't think they would do anything about it, and it looks brilliant!
No it wouldn’t be cheaper than tiling.. thats £270 just for the pennies, grout would be another what £20-30 maybe? Then the resin is expensive as hell! 1kg of resin is about £30-£35 and you would need a shit load of resin for that floor! I would deffo do it though i’ve done some penny tables looks great.
The Frothy Brothers Hi I'm seri from Pakistan running kids ministry and girls orphanage.actually I have some old coins from different countries I want to sale for girls orphanage building.if anyone want to but please contact us. Thank you Blessings
nope becous of how you lay waterlines you dont lay them flat on the floor not atleast now days you take them straight down the you have them hangin from the celing in the basement = no need to rip the floor up and you can se leaks faster
Like the floor...unique look. The squares make it look like tile love it. The flaws and discoloring give a lived on floor also a plus gives it character. You did an excellent job its actually lasted ❤
Omg i love that because if this house lives until like 2097 and people live there they will look down and see these ancient pennys on the the ground dating to 1952 to 2013 and so on what such a unique idea
I feel like in the next generations to come people will look down at an ancient penny that isn’t made anymore and they will take them out of the ground and sell them but I hope that’s not the case
If you ever sell that house you'll have to count all the pennies and add the amount of money the penny's are worth to how much ur selling the house for
Its 270 pounds it's not that big of a deal. And for some it might even reduce the cost of the house because how many people really want a penny floor in their new home? They'd probably end up ripping up the floor.
alex maga the point is not everyone has the same taste. Something that's unique and cool to one person might be ugly to another, that's why I said depending on who buts the house after him. I showed my BF this video and he said the floor didnt look good lol I personally think its nice
It looks like the pennies would cost $1-2 per square foot while tile costs about $5 and carpet costs more like $8. The clear resin coat would add cost though to the coin floor.
It reminds me of the lino/carpets they had in the 70's! Do you guys plan to get some brown and orange/orange and green pin-striped or polkadot wallpaper and an olive green/orange/pink matching bathroom set (with matching toilet rug of course) and put a woodgrain effect on the LCD TV, console/dvd player to fit into and match the 33/78rpm record player and fm/am radio built into the drinks cabinet with wood paneling on the "feature/entertainment" wall as well? Dimmer switches in every room with wee 3 bulb pretend chandeliers, artex ceiling, little breakfast bar with stools in the middle of the kitchen... Lol, just kidding! 😂 Not my up of tea, but nice work all the same guys. Well done
Would be good if there was a tool to shake them into a flat tile that you could dip in glue and the release them all. Would make it a more doable for many people.
I thought the same thing. There was another video where they used a 12"x12" frame made for pennies. Then a sheet of sticky film was laid on top to keep the pennies together. Each sheet was laid down on a pre glued section of the floor like sheets of tile. One square section seems a lot better than one penny at a time.
@@gytisdramblewolfskis8521 it's clear epoxy relatively expensive I just can't wait till he has to remove the flooring for renovation or something it's going to be a real pain in the ass
Turned out amazing. A buddy and myself had done this same project in his sons room only took $450 worth so not quite as many as you had but definitely a fun project.
