Ex paratrooper, have always loved the C130, but I have to admit... the A-400 is the cargo and airborne giant of the future for loads of that size. We still need the heavy lifter C5 and C17, but to replace the C130.. this plane has it. Looks freaking awesome!
I live south of Hanover (Germany) about 70 km away and since I live in the flight path where the A400M always flies long distances, I see the A400M very often in the sky 😁
@@tubolinus C17 doesn't fulfill the requirements European militaries have with regard to air transport. She's too big and heavy and therefore simply not versatile enough, and maintainance is too costly.
Now you are Packed and ready, only need some enemies to fully see those super capabilities off paratroopers and army forces fighting for their survival.
The U.S. Forrest Service needs to buy a few dozen designed to water drop or flame retardant drops . I think the efficiency would far outweigh the scores of private services flying everything from UH-1's to DC-10's...
it would be very kind and sympathetic if you could add metric measures so your international audience could also understand your dimension descriptions.
Has nothing to do with international audience. Western Aviation uses is 90 -100% imperial units. Online unit converter or learning the basic approximations and "shortcut" conversions helps.
"The GAU-21 machine gun has a barrel life of 10000 rounds, with a firing rate of 1100 rounds per minute" - The barrel will last only 9 minutes before it needs to be replaced?
Land For Sale Great Price. No Neighbors. Can Do What You Want. No Rules. One Tiny Catch. ... Sometimes A Few Helicopters Let Loose A Tiny Bit Of Lead Once In A While. 😄
According to this the pave hawk has a 50 cal machine gun with a barrel life of 10,000 rounds and shoots 1100 rounds per minute. Does that mean the barrel life is less than 10 minutes?
Worked weapons on AC-130’s, MH-60’s, and MH-53’s in the early 90’s...the helo gunners usually flew with an extra .50 barrel because of how easily they can be cooked
@@tarcil - True, the mainplanes provide lift - the props provide the thrust to deliver airflow over the mainplanes. Still not sure how opposing rotation on each wing 'helps' with lift, compared to if the props on each wing went the same rotation - something like the Herc. Unless it's to do with the direct airflow over the mainplane from the propwash.
@@leneanderthalien the original question was, how do opposing rotating blades help wing lift. The purpose of these propellers is to provide thrust. While they do provide some lift, their main job is forward thrust. The wings provide lift. Propellers spinning in opposite directions lessens the torque and prop wash over each wing, the wing can therefore produce more lift. It was an inaccurate description of what the propellers do.
Do the propellers working in opposition squeeze air together and force that under the wing or stop it being robbed from the top? They do that in boats with twin props to stop air ingress into water. Brits used blown flaps with engine bleed air blown out over flap area to increase lift and reduce landing speed. Agree would reduce torque on wing.
much better to have counter rotating props , they pull and push at the same time. Check out the amazing Fairey Gannet that used two engines on a dual counter rotating prop.
@@Cheiff117 Good old bird but the check out the Short Belfast which was the RAF heavy lift aircraft before they bought the little C-130, makes the A400m look like a little private jet, you could actually fit a C-130 inside a Belfast and still have room for a few tanks.
lb ? is that approximatley the weight of one bread from cornwall ? And where can I get the green sunglases from (that the loadmaster is wearing) - my 8 year old daughter wants them badly... thanks for answers.
Used to work on 20 x 139 mm Rheinmetall RH 202 AA twin guns and there they said with one single hit an aircraft is not able to continue its mission. Would be the same on an A 400 M ...
So this side gun...the FN Herstal M3M has a barrel life of 10,000 rounds and fires 1100 rounds per minute. So if fired at a constant rate it could only go 10 mins then need an new barrel? I know they probably would never fire for ten minutes straight...it seems more like a gun meant to be used in bursts, but it just seems like a short-lived component.
I don't know about British paras, but I assume they are at least the same as the ones I know, so after the flight, the pilots would "accidentally" fell off stairs face first and a squad of paratroopers would "accidentally" receive them with their knuckles. You know, accidents happens :D
look like nothing the A400M is the A400M, totaly différent from the olf (1954) C130, and much smaller as the C17 who is a strategic transporter (this explain why is use turbo jets who are muche more fragile...)
