Britain's Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has accused China of gross and egregious human rights abuses against its Muslim Uighur population in the western province of Xinjiang.
Rights groups say around one-million ethnic Uighur are being held in so-called re-education camps to purge them of their faith and identity.
In response, the Chinese ambassador to the UK warned China will deliver a "resolute response" to any move by the UK to sanction officials over the alleged rights abuses.
Exiled Uighurs have accused Chinese officials of genocide and crimes against humanity.
They are urging the International Criminal Court to investigate.
Beijing says the camps are 'vocational education centres', designed to combat 'extremism' and teach students Mandarin and job skills.
