A specialist litter picking team is called to attend an urgent job in Wolverhampton.
A wooded area has become a popular spot for the local hard drug users. Unfortunately, the addicts tend to leave their waste and other paraphernalia in the woods, resulting in a serious risk to public safety.
The location is close to a children’s playground and so if the situation continues it is simply a matter of time before the unthinkable happens.
It’s time to call in Lew and the boys to do a dangerous and dirty job…

Pathetic scumbags, I was a needle user and the reason I say they are pathetic scumbags is only because they refuse to throw needles away properly! I could never think of doing this crap like leaving them in the trees! Glad to be off it anyways.

Mate those are heroin and meth. Needles and bloodstream injection is the main way to take heroin and a way to take meth. Drug study I dont have experience

I have been stuck around 15 times with used needles thankfully none were loaded. Pre loaded ones are the worst as they may contain air bubbles. Its the 6 month wait for the all clear that's the worst. I have hundreds of pictures of syringes in hidden places with the worst being in public bins with plastic bin liners as they offer no protection. The workers who clean your streets are given no protection against this as it's deemed a hazard of the job. Broken bottles and panes of glass and stanley knives in public bins, well i hate them the most as my right calf on my leg looks like i have been self harming with all the scars. It's the poor bugger that works in your town or city centre who gets it the most as they also have to breathe in Car/bus fumes all day long as well being more prone to catching the Flu and COVID-19.

This is one of my biggest worries as a mum, my child being jabbed by a used needle when playing in the park. Also dog mess and glass.. it’s everywhere, it makes me anxious taking my child to the local parks

On a more serious note, not enough is being done to help drug users in ways that also protect the public. Help does not ALWAYS mean getting them to stop. Some forms of help are more about harm reduction, and harm reduction is about protecting the public as well. Many users walk away from treatment due to this approach, they don't WANT to stop. So the next best thing is to provide clean injecting equipment and safe places for them to inject, this helps reduce this risk.

This article from the British Guardian says: Providing free needles and syringes to people who inject heroin and cocaine is a cost-effective use of NHS money, the government's medicines watchdog said today. The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) issued its first guidance on how harm reduction services for addicts should be run throughout England, suggesting combining non-judgmental needle exchange schemes with treatment to help users come off drugs. Prof Mike Kelly, director of the institute's public health division, said there are about 200,000 injecting drug users in Britain. He estimated about 25% of users share needles, putting themselves at a greatly increased risk of being infected with Hepatitis C or HIV.

how about, if you know theres druguse in a specific area, lets say this hangout in the woods, you put up bins specifically for the needles. the way i see it, the people will keep coming back, so why not try to adapt to this? might not eliminate the problem, but might make it a bit better

You’ve probably had an easy life, be thankful.
