12:57 have you found anywhere where people are friendly and pleased to see you but smiling isn't the done thing. It's something I read about, but I don't know whether it's true, or still true
I m from Malaysia, but i find Thailand to be most amazing country in the world with so much diversity and charm, care free atmosphere n people , beaches n jungles r fabulous. Thai food are absolutely delicious.
Malaysia is also cool I really love Malaysian food my favorite is nasik kerabu with fish and chicken I could eat everyday!!! Looking forward to visit again soon from Thailand❤❤❤
Your country also great. I heard southern part of Thai gonna get more development in a few years. Both our countries are gonna be closer more than ever.
and malaysia had the most tourists in 2023 at 8 million+ visitors.you really established well most of your infrastructures along time ago.im from the philippines we only had 5 m + along with cambodia.❤
@@E_O_S_ exactly!!.... when visiting a muslim country, there are so many restriction that will spoiled your holidays.....for example follow dress code, can't drink certain drinks, foods hv to be halal, no entertainment, can't do this & can't do that....blah blah blah.... and the lists goes on and on......that's why Thailand a non-Muslim country is a good holiday destination.....I wonder why Muslim people from Malaysia like to visit Thailand instead of going to some Taliban countries or to countries where they share similar values!!!...😂
I have been visiting Thailand since 1997. I decided to stay and marry my Thai girlfriend in 2006, and have never left except to visit my family in New York and New Jersey. We now own three properties and life has been amazing. Shan rak pathet Thai!!
The heavenly city. Been through and stayed there many times to and from Kanchanaburi and Chiangmai.Used to enjoy stopping over there sometimes to break the journey. I remember the bad floods there a few years back probably before your time there.
@@robindtgriffiths6487 yes I remember the floods also. It was around the time we were looking for a house and so many had flood lines on them. Decided not to live in the city center.
Thai people is very friendly with traveller , this is really softpower of Thais. Hope both of you discover more lovely people and Have a safe trip along Thailand.
When you leave the cities and go into the countryside and rural areas life is so much more relaxed and peaceful and friendly with everybody, friends and strangers alike become almost like family. If I were you guys that would be the thing I would treasure and remember forever. You so blessed!
Awesome video as always Chris and Marianne. Thailand is such a spectacular place with a lot of unique places and unique food and with the most friendly people. Thanks for letting us ride along with y'all on y'all's journey around the world.
I love your roadside clips. I always pause the video to get a better look or read the signs. Thailand is so rich in man-made as well as natural imagery and you guys do a fabulous job of conveying it on film.
It just occurred to me...after following you since you were involved with the turtle refuge, I don't think I have ever seen either of you go for a swim at any of the beautiful beaches you've been to. Not water people? These beaches and the inns you stayed at in this particular video are just incredible. The hosts are so welcoming and genuine, it is lovely to see.
You are right !! We had a conversation about this recently - our work (filming / travelling / researching etc) sometimes takes over and we really need to address that !! So today we will go for a swim and take a few hours of non travel work time off !! Thank you 💜🌺
We saw your van in southern Thailand but we can't remember where or when. We were between Hua Hin and Surat Thani somewhere, in January/February. Wow! I just stumbled on this video, I'll watch right now.
I actually enjoyed driving in Thailand compared to UK. Once you get used to traffic patterns and and different thing to watch out for hordes of motorcycles esp ones coming up on your left. Cars undertaking on the left mad truck drivers it was great. Lot of positives eg generally well maintained road . Soft or hard shoulders on most roads (unlike UK with hardly any) Left turns on red light at most junctions unless prohibited) No ULEZ zones. No nasty car parks issuing hefty fines for slight infringements. Petrol stations that serve you. Downside is often very long waits at traffic lights at busy junctions esp when traffic police interfere with the lights. Many of the back roads we used in Kanchanaburi Suphanburi and Chai Nat wre an absolute delight to drive along.
Thank you for sharing! Thailand has changed so much since I visited 30 years ago. There were hardly any mosques, and Phuket was a small beach town. I miss the beautiful, friendly Thai people. It's time to go back. ❤
I've lived in Thailand for 6 years now. Love it. ❤️ . The thai people have the best hearts in the world. Food is fantastic. And it's absolutely beautiful anywhere you go. I wish I had found Thailand 30 years ago.
Never seen Thailand as Beautiful as ive seen it on this programme ❤❤❤❤ And THOSE LITTLE hideaways Are Edens On Earth and Thai people are Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤😊
Enjoyed this clip very much, we have just spent three weeks in Thailand Bangkok, Chiang Mai & Phuket we had a great time - next time we will spend exploring the quieter side of Thailand and explore regional rural islands - safe travels to you both
Great video! Your videos give an unique true picture of countries that many people think negatively of the countries progress and modernization.Thank you
Driving north to Bangkok a great place to stop is Prachuap Khiri Khan.Hardly any tourists except Bangkokians at the weekend.A typical Thai town 4 hours from Bangkok.Great beaches with good food at Ao Manao on an air force base called Wing 5,entrance to the base is right in the town.
Brings back a lot of memories as we lived in Thailand for 30 years. Note the general condition of the roads compared with the UK. Most (but not all) provinces in Thailand maintain their highways really well. Our province Kanchanaburi was really good and constantly trying to out do the one next to it (going north) Suphanburi that had a reputation of having the best highway system in Thailand. I was amused at the pronunciation of place names but to be fair they are not easy esp as transliteration into English (with Thai having 5 tone plus short and long vowels) is not easy. For the record the word for Island transliterated as Kho is a hard k with a short o and high tone. Think of saying got without the t at the end. But hey the boots on the other foot having now retired to Cornwall. Even after 6 years I still struggle with a lot of these Cornish place names! But the Thai people are generally so friendly and helpful and are getting used to mispronunciation of place names..and NOT making fun of you either. Did you ever have any run ins with Thai police? I have some hilarious stories of my experiences over the yeara.
I've lived on Phuket for the past three decades, and I've still not discovered all it's hidden gems. Believe me, your whistle stop visit deprived you of what the island really has to offer.
My new fave vloggers! It’s amazing what you guys have achieved. And Trudy is a true powerhouse of course! Love what you do. You’re obviously a really nice couple that possess beautiful souls. I’m now hooked on your adventures. I wish only the best for all three of you on your journey moving forward! Thailand is such an amazing country with the most wonderful people. You’ve combined two of my favourite things in this world. Thailand and world travel in your own camper… just brilliant! 🙏🏻
What looks like sugar cane, is bamboo, with rice in it, that has been roasted. Some of them have black beans mixed in with the rice. I have driven that road a dozen times, and still enjoy watching you drive it :)
Another great video thankyou! I can't help thinking about how close you are getting to home and wondering how do you come down from a trip like this?? And what are we going to watch when you get there..........oh dear...........haha
Wow, saw the journey of you guys in thailand. The roads in Thailand are nice and wide with beautiful nature on the side of the road. But many people say that Thai people like to drive fast and dangerously, must use caution. Travel safely, always follow. Can't wait for the next ep...
So exciting that you’ve made it to Thailand with Trudy! Who knew at the start of all this that the van would come to enjoy is island life 😂 we are headed to Thailand shortly and this gets us so excited!
Mimosa pudica (pudica Latin for 'shy, bashful, shrinking'); also called sensitive plant, sleepy plant, action plant, touch-me-not, or shameplant, is a creeping annual or perennial flowering plant of the pea/legume family Fabaceae. It is often grown for its curiosity value: the sensitive compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken and re-open a few minutes later. - from Wikipedia
OMG, I just notice and watched this video and really like your both trips.Feel freedom when I see you driving. Anyway welcome to Thailand and have a safely trips 🙏
I travel regularly from the UK to Indonesia, from there I meet my Javanese Lady and we travel and have adventures, las year Sumatera, Mount Puncak, Kebumen. This year we are going to Banda Neira, and Mount Puncak again. Your travelling experience looks amazing, thankyou for sharing it.
Absolutely stunning - can't get over the friendliness of the people. My daughter is heading to Thailand in a few weeks I see you taking ice cubes with your bottled water. I assume it is safe to do so?
Expat here and the Ice here is perfectly safe. Your daughter will have a great time. Thailand is generally a very safe country but just take the normal safety precautions you would anywhere to be doubly sure. But one word of advice Don't rent a motorbike! It may seem a great cool idea but Thai roads are extremely dangerous (60 deaths a day!!!!) Seen it all too often where inexperienced riders get a scooter/ motorbike and end up in hospital or even worse! Hope your daughter has a great trip. 😎
I found you channel from Paddy Doyle's channel. I've been a subscriber of his from the beginning and I absolutely love Thailand. Your channel is very interesting and I will be watching more.
I just returned from Thailand. I went to Bangkok and Chiang Rai in the north. We hired a car and drive around all over the place up in Chiang Rai and the mountains and Doi Tung and the lovely gardens. It’s fun driving in Thailand and dodging the motorbikes!
So many amazing and special places ! 😍😍 Thank you for sharing all this with us ! I’m so happy for you that you spent time with your nephew and ex colleague !
Your tempting me now to go to Thailand. I haven't been to Bangkok, yet. I've rode to Phuket twice from Malaysia. Phuket for now is my favourite place in Thailand. Your right about the countryside view. Those limestone hills ( at least I think so). They begin in Ipoh, Malaysia and I saw all the way to Phuket, dotting the landscape as far as the eye can see especially the one in Krabi. Absolutely stunning views. I will never forget those sights. That small leaves you touched that closes up, is called pokok semalu in Malay. Don't know what it's called in English. Pokok means tree, semalu means shy.
JFYI, in English it's more commonly known as the sensitive plant or touch-me-not plant, Mimosa pudica is a tropical shrub that closes its leaves when touched. The plant is native to Central and South America and features delicate, fern-like leaves with light purple pom-pom-shaped flowers. It's part of the legume family Fabaceae.
it is wild to return to a place after 25 years, I did that last summer, for two spots in France, took my wife and daughter to them back in May, but had first visited with my Mom 25 years before/ amazing.
Surprised you didn't drive round the spectacular west coast of Phuket from Patong to Nai Harn. Absolutely stunning views. Also the beautiful old town with Sino-Portugeuse architecture.
I live in Phang nga now and I've cycled most of Thailand. I like your style. Just see a sign for a place to stay and go have a look. There are so many great little places to stay in Thailand outside of the cities and you really get to meet and support local people for a much lower price than online places. No need to prebook all the rooms and tie yourself down to some schedule. Cheers :)
"Tree bridge" .... 🤣 Everyone knows that bamboo is a grass... Shame that restaurant with the BBQ cant deliver to the UK , it looked good. Stay safe you three... ❤
Yes technically it is from a grass family, but then politically in many countries where large tropical bamboo species occur natively, bamboos are legally considered to be trees and thus fall under the strict regulations of their forest department. So "tree bridge" could be correct as well. The more ya know! 😋
The plants that close up are called "touch-me-not." Well, at least that's what we've been taught since we were kids (in Malaysia). They grow wild and are all over the place.
I’ve been a regular visitor to Thailand for the last 30 years and it’s a wonderful country , but since the pandemic I have noticed how much things have changed and it is becoming more and more commercialised and at the moment the exchange rate make it an expensive place to visit , therefore I have been travelling to the Philippines for the last couple of trips and have really enjoyed it , stay away from the big cities and the rest of the islands are fantastic and still very cheap , good luck with the rest of your adventure.... 👍
To me it's crazy to trust a 19 year old Fiat that far away from home :). When there was too much oil in the engine, my first thought was it has some Diesel in the oil. However, thanks for the video. A very calming and interesting video. You both seem to be very lovely people. You both enjoy your life. I admire you doing just that.
You will have discovered that the roads in Thailand have been transformed since your honeymoon, even second and third tier roads, making it a driver's paradise.
Thanks for the Heart, It lessons the pain of the UK weather and the Tescos Thai curry I endured last night a little! Lol . The weird thing is I want to see more of the food you eat? Reminds of your Turkish feeds!
A really nice video and the first one of yours that I have had pop up on my You Tube home page. I’ve just left Thailand after traveling around for two months, I would love to have done it by a road trip. I’ll look out for more of your travels.
