The start of sea trials of Ukraine's first Turkish-built corvette, Hetman Ivan Mazepa, is an exciting development. This modern warship is a concrete example of defense cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey. The corvette is equipped with advanced technology weapon systems such as the 35mm GÖKDENİZ Close Air Defense System produced by ASELSAN. It is also equipped with STAMP 12.7mm remote-controlled weapon systems mounted on the port and starboard sides of the ship.
During the sea acceptance tests, all systems and performance of Hetman Ivan Mazepa will be examined in detail. If successful, the corvette will join the Ukrainian navy in 2024 and make a significant contribution to the country's maritime defense capabilities.
