In the Netherlands I talked to some Wilders voters (friends and family) they are not amused that Wilders still acts like a rebel (Twitter behavior and personal attacks), even though he is in power now, but particularly the move to Orbans EU party is recieved as betrayal.

Good news for Europe and Ukraine. But let's not forget that there are also people in the left coalition who are anti-Ukraine and pro Russian. Mélenchon is in that regard not much different from LePen. We have a similar issue here in Germany, with extreme right (AfD) and extreme left (BSW) being very pro Russian.

Allez la France ! That parties and individual candidates out in the districts have tactically coordinated to block the far right has happened repeatedly during the last elections. So, I'm not really surprised they did the same this time around. It does show that in French politics individual power is not always as important as unified, collective effort There will be some bargaining on several issues going forward - and trade-offs will be made to have a ruling coalition. Let's hope compromising French support for Ukraine will not be one of them !

You have not all candidates from first sunday that can compete for second sunday. Only the two first and also all those that got more than 12.5% of the possible voters for a seat. So in many cases you have 3 possible on second sunday if there were enough voters. What happened is that if RN was first or second, mostly only the best of the two others stayed.

have you ever wondered why Australia has one of the most stable governments on the plant ? Compulsory voting , because in a democracy voting is your patriotic duty Preferential voting which favours the least unpopular rather than the most popular ( Jim Hacker for PM ) . This ensures that every government will be accepted by the bulk of the population and will always be centralist which is where the mass of every population resides , in the sensible centre . Next to a direct democracy the system used in Australia is the second best system in the entire world by a country mile . Now in an American context , where the right are terrified that if more people vote they will be defeated forever it is interesting to note that since federation the ratio of conservative to progressive governments is 5:2 so the country of criminals exported from the UK and with the most diverse and largest percentage of migrants on the planet overwhelmingly votes conservative ( well by Australian standards any way )

It's good because RN has been crushed to a far lower level, that's true, but it's not so good for Ukraine because we won't see a government that will be able to work for a long time i guess. LFI left wing still claimed the Prime Minister seat where they have no majority and none of the other blocs wants to work with them.The problem is that to get a majority you need Macron + LR + Socialists + Green and that has nearly no chance to happen. But wait & see !
