Creator's have been experimenting with armor like this and adding multiple layer's of flex seal and lining the plate carriers with leather DRASTICALLY reduces spalling

Tbf during that test it it didnt look like the final product. 1:07 they mention having layers for catching spalling

The bullet fragments have less enrgy and will only cut you and in less vital areas.

We've still got tons of armor for sale in this country and at falling prices in many cases. A lot of what has been sent over to Ukraine has been surplus law enforcement gear that was going to be destroyed anyway.

Jebi Se well clearly they're using ceramic in the video. also I think good ceramic can be better than kevlar at least for stopping high velocity bullets. I think kevlar is normally for stab and pistol bullet protection (general police work). at least ceramic is common in bulletproof vests even when price and availability aren't an issue. though depending on where they're getting those ceramic plates from, the quality may vary widely, because there is a huge range of hardness and toughness among different types of ceramic, it's even obvious with a lot of kitchenware that some stuff chips way easier than others.

@@Ass_of_Amalek yes, true. Kevlar is widely used as a over mesh on ceramic and steel plates as well. It ensures no spall from the plate rip through your chest.

not true, body armour that stops most rifle rounds is widely available today. and nobody makes titanium armour, it's kevlar and ceramic.

@@Ass_of_Amalek Body armour that can stop 7.62 full rifle round aint practical to wear and expensive. And titanium armour existed in USSR towards the end of the 80s they had both body armour with titanium plates, and the helmets which can stop pistol rounds completely.

Thats definitiely wrong. Modern kevlar plates stop rounds with caliber 7.62mmx51mm

@@SMGJohn You are thinking about helmets, not body armor. body armors like these are designed to protect from rifle rounds - at a certain range, and that's the point of it. A bullet coming out of the barrel doesn't magically fly indefinitely, and the farther it travel, the more energy it lose until it can no longer penetrate the armor. No combat personnel will waste time wearing body armor if it doesn't warrant protection. New generation of arm or designs have always been like this, they make it lighter with tougher material that can stop rifle round - as long as the minimum distance between the bullet and the armor is met. As for artillery, what kill people the most aren't shrapnel, but rather the blast wave from the explosion that literally turn your organs into jellies causing internal bleedings. You can duck down and avoid shrapnel, but you can't avoid the energy blast unless you're in a trench and faraway enough.

@@W4RH3RO43 You seen what happens when someone with such heavy armour gets shot with a large calibre rifle round? The round is stopped, yes, but the energy it delivers is projected into your body, thats still fatal you know if it hits correctly and these heavy body armour are only meant to stop a few rounds. They are also impractical in combat duo to their weight hence why mostly just law enforcement use them. Exoskeletons are changing that though.
