I know, that’s the most amazing thing about RU-vid. I learned how to mod ipods here on RU-vid, now I will be trying to learn at least some basics about ukulele.
I'm a 60 year old teacher/new grandmother who bought my first Uke just so I could sing Happy Birthday and a few simple songs to my students and granddaughter. So happy to hav found you!!!!
My ukulele was untouched and covered in dust for 2 years. I found your channel the other day and now I can’t put it down. BIG THANK YOU!! After I master the ukulele, I can try my guitar that has been there nearly ten years haha. YOU are my sunshine. X
@@123ftw1 ah practice songs that you like and sing around. You'll enjoy. Maybe join an app called Starmaker and you can sing in live chat lounge. It's fun!
I have always wanted to learn an instrument but was deterred by poor family circumstances. I am 34 now and I found a yaymaker ukulele at a thrift store the other day for 7 bucks and bought it. And then I found this awesome lesson channel and learning these 3 chords tonight made me smile soo big and really want to learn. Thank you for putting these up.
How is your ukulele learning going? I’m 66 and my ukulele comes tomorrow! I’ve been playing the piano for four years now, but want to give the ukulele a try. Well, I hope it’s been fun…
Good for you! I admire your decision-music is the best friend anyone can ask for. I’ve been an amateur musician for 40/years and I am always happy when I hear of people even older than myself who start learning an instrument. It’s the best thing for the mind and the soul! Good luck to you!
@mandatory1561 I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm so happy your looking for peace! , I just want you to know Jesus Christ is calling you, and if you follow him, it'll give you eternal peace. Jesus loves you 🤍
Haha! Same here, wanted to learn sth new, so yesterday I decided to go for a Ukulele. Order placed late last night, now I'm all excited for the delivery.
This is wild: i never intended to learn Ukulele. But was walking home and a neighbour put a Ukulele on the sidewalk with a note saying: for free. So i picked it up. Found this video. And since you are a motivating teacher i am hooked. All within an hour!
I literally went like “Oooh, ukuleles sound cool, i want one!” So i got one for christmas, and here i am, in almost in the middle of the year, and literally cant play it at all
@@jugzapanta7160 Yeah haha.. But if you're not as lazy as me, you can actually look up tutorials and get learning! I really recommend doing so, but I've never even tried.
OMG OMG OMG OMG! I got my ukulele 2 days back and I chose this video to get started and i was really agitated first but continued to work. Using the sunshine song and then playing the chords only and trying to work on faster transition. And I can play the sunshine song and just tried happy birthday too and I can do it in acceptable form!! I have a long way to go but am so glad i can do it! Practice does make you the best. Phewwww. Thanks for this! All uke beginners, keep at it! We can do itttt! 😌🤞✌️👏☺️🥰🎸✨
I'm just some rando online, this brought a tear to my eye. I really do feel for you. I think it is a lovely thing to do, I sincerely hope that you gave it a crack.
I have looked at so many tutorials for songs and even downloaded a couple of apps. This is by far the easiest and best lesson and tutorial I have seen and I learnt you are my sunshine for the first time properly. Thanks so much.
My girlfriend sang the song “you’re my sunshine” to me after watching your lessen for ukulele:) She’s started to learn how to play Ukulele from last night:) Thanks for the lessen. It was absolutely awesome !!! From Japan.
Man the self isolation ukulele playing train has a lot of passengers, huh? Well make room for one more!! Big thanks for the tutorial. Spent a couple of days learning my way around my uke (you know I'm serious about playing it, I called it a uke).
Hi Andy! I am a music teacher and I am learning the uke before I teach it to my students starting October. I love your manner and you do a great job explaining and demonstrating. Thank you!!
If you are under quaranteen, I wish you the best of health, but if you have an instrument to play, that is a great way to give you something positive to do.
i’m a violinist trying to learn ukulele i’m quarantine and i am pleasantly surprised how easy it is for my brain to switch certain rules from one instrument to another. this video is great, thanks for making my pandemic life a little brighter
such a pleasing instructor with the perfect pace, not too fast or slow. Really good job and thank you so much! Bought a ukelele today to make quarantine better! :)
Struggling to even finds words to explain how happy I am that I found this! You’re an amazing teacher. I already made it to day 2 and learned my first 4 chords. THANK YOU!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
absolutely wonderful! Makes you feel like you've really accomplished something. mind you, the 18 minute video took me almost an hour to complete with all of the stops, starts, practices and re-dos, but boy, do I feel like I really learned something, and now I can play "You are my Sunshine" You are a great teacher! Thank you for taking the time for doing these videos. Can't wait to go from here!
It's all good! Nobody knows in the beginning. This 10 day course should get you to know enough to learn any songs you want to learn! Any further questions ask away and I will make more ukulele videos :)
Thank you so much Andy. I recently lost my dad and he left me a ukulele. Your song choices at the end (lean on me, amazing grace) were songs we sang together before he passed. ❤ You’re a saint for the free classes I can’t thank you enough.
It’s my birthday today. I’ve received a ukulele! Going to learn in lockdown. Lost count of the number of times I’ve paused parts of Day 1 😆. Really enjoying your tutorials Andy. Thank you. 😀
Best ukulele tutorial ever. You had me playing and singing along within ten minutes without having ever touched a ukulele before. In ten days, I'll be driving my neighbors crazy every single evening :-D
TheLast RippeR I have added a few more chords and keep practicing the shifts between chords. Have started composing little tunes and lyrics that I can impress my husband and friends with. Loving it 😃 Thanks for asking!
I'm a recently retired teacher looking for new learning. This is my favorite song (You are my sunshine)to sing to my grandkids (who are already learning ukelele) so I am very happy to join in!
This was such a fun lesson and easy to understand. I’ve always wanted to be a musician and bought my kids some toy ukeleles but found myself playing with them more than my kids. I decided to buy my own and I love it. It’s so relaxing. Gonna practice these chords for the next few days.
Thanks for watching guys! Let me know what NEW uke videos you would like, or anything I can do to help all of you guys learning to play during self isolating ✌ Wishing you all peace and health 🎸
so I was tuning it and it seems like mine is dgbe version what does that mea and can I still follow along w this video bc when I play it sounds different
First time trying and I'm absolutely embarrasingly awful, I have such a difficulty thinking about several things at the same time but in the end it actually got bit better, perhaps if I practice this video several times for some weeks, until I feel confident playing this song. You're a great teacher.
I love how he teaches how to play ukulele, step by step. I wished I had seen his videos when I was a beginner in playing guitar, I can feel his patience and care while he teaches. I love it.
Great lesson! I haven’t played the ukulele since I was ten years old. I got a new ukulele yesterday. I’m now 64 years old. I just finished the first lesson. It all came back to me. I’m feeling very successful 🏆. Now, on to the next lesson! (And lots of practice.) Thank you.
I'd try swapping where your 1st and 2nd finger are - that's how I've always played G and found his way slightly more difficult. It's whatever feel most comfortable for your hands, I suppose :D
This is great video and all but I literally got to F major and started crying because it's been 15 minutes and I still can't get my short fat fingers to properly hold down the strings.
I’m leaving this comment to motivate myself to learn how to play on ukulele 😇 I already tried by choosing a really hard song, but I failed, so decided to find a tutorial for beginners. I will update my progress every few days 🤓 Day 1 - starting from scratch. Never played on any instruments. Wish me luck 😅🤣
I started playing at the start of 2023 and I learned how to play ukelele thanks to you and it's one of the things I enjoy doing most now and I can not thank you enough I watched the entire course and I will pick your tutorials if I feel like playing more instruments in the future. Now I am going to proceed to like the entire course.
To everyone else: YOU'RE NOT UNTALENTED, YOU'RE JUST A BEGINNER! :D I too was surprised at how physically difficult playing the uke was... But I paced myself, only did what I was capable of doing, and I got better over time, and so will you. ^^ If you're hurting and frustrating yourself, dial back the difficulty level and just strum open for a while, do some rhythm and singing playing around. Then try chords that only use one finger, and learn as many of those as you can, and string them together. I did that for YEARS and still made kickasss music. Only move on to multiple fingers once you're eager to. And remember to keep your goals in mind. What did you want ukulele skills for? I didn't start in order to become a master, or even to do plucking. I got a uke to use for backing chords. If I can do that, that's success for me, even if I'm in bottom 10% of ukulele skills. So think about it. Is there a specific goal you have in mind? If not, why not make one to start with? Maybe it's to master a specific song you really like, or to participate in a band, or practice for a certain amount of time every month, or to be able to do a specific technique. If you set a goal, it's a lot easier to appreciate your progress. Good luck! To Andy, Thank you for this! Now I can annoy my neighbors in tune! I got a uke because I do composition, lyrics and vocals, but I needed something to do with my hands to accompany myself, so I got the smallest instrument I thought would work... because I lived in a van and literally could not fit anything bigger than a ukulele in there... I'm basically greg universe.... Anyway, it was fun making up my own weird dissonant chords by messing around on the fret, but learning real chords is very nice! Thank you for uploading!
This video got my daughter and I playing 2 songs within an hour. It is our second day playing a Ukulele. Thanks so much for all your work in putting this together! Looking forward to watching and learning with the rest of your lessons
I am going to have to watch this over and over and over again, after my finger tips have feeling in them again. Andy sure does make it easy to follow along with. Thanks Andy for putting these out!
I just received a Uke for Christmas. I’m looking forward to playing it and learning from you. The lessons seem straightforward and manageable! Thank you! :)
thank you , i just got my first ukelele , i tried guitar years ago but didnt keep at it as i struggled with the strings . i love my ukelele. these classes are so clear and helpful.
After years and years of procrastinating, I finally ordered myself an ukulele and got it today. Stumbled across your channel and I enjoyed your session. Thank you for putting up your free 10 day course for us to learn on RU-vid. Hope you're having an awesome. Meanwhile, I'll go practice some more. Thanks again. -Jan
My boyfriend just gave me a ukulele as a Christmas present (merry Christmas to all btw) and I'm really glad I found your videos. I wanna play a song to him on his bday in February.
Adryana Diniz Same! My entire family is kinda sharing a ukulele but I’m the one who uses it the most. Already starting to get callouses by how hard I’m pressing on the strings
Got a ukulele for Christmas gang | | V PS ya’ll I agree with that one reply we should make a discord and share our progress XD PSS Link in replies lmao PSSS someone else is gonna have to make the server cos my discord is glitching our real bad :/
Incredible! Got this exact same Uke for Xmas, took it out the bag, tuned it and now you have me playing in less than an hour.. Who says you cant teach an old dog (50 something) new tricks?! As soon as I get my fingers to work fast enough, going to do the rest of the course. Thanks so much :)
My family was in one of the 'big' instrument stores here, and they planted themselves in the acoustic room. So, I plucked a concert ukulele off the wall just outside, went in and sat on the bench and pulled up this video on my phone. I did so well and had so much fun, that I decided to buy a ukulele. I did a weeks worth of research because I didn't know anything about them, and purchased a Kala solid mahogany tenor size. Thanks to you, I now own a ukulele and am looking forward to having fun with it. I'm like others here, I've been struggling with guitar for over a year. I think I should have started with the ukulele.
Hi! I just got my ukelele in the mail and started with THIS video! Within an hour I was on the phone playing a rendition of twist and shout with my mom, who knew what it was right away and started to sing along. This is good medicine! Thank you so much for providing these videos!
Thank you for your awesome tutorial! I got the hang on this chords quickly but need to work on my chord change speed. This is so easy when you explain it! 😄
I am going to be part of a all senior woman ukulele group and I love your first lesson . I play the guitar and this is much easier , so far lol ! thank you so much
you're such an amazing teacher!! i'm a cellist and i always thought it would be difficult to unlearn certain things from one instrument to be able to play another but you made things extremely easy to digest and made the ukulele very enjoyable to play!!
Andy, you're my hero! First time ever I've watched a 'learn (insert musical instrument)' and ended up with a feeling that I can actually do this! Thank you!
I just got my first ukulele and always felt nervous trying new instruments. Thank you for a lovely introduction and wonderful attitude it made me excited to work on your 10 day lessons.
