Learning music is like playing with Legos, it is much easier and interesting to see and learn how the pieces fit together rather than to study just the individual pieces. Teaching by showing chord progressions is one of the best ways to make learning fun and easier for the brain to absorb the material. Our brain loves to recognize patterns and our fingers love to practice the transition patterns that make the most beautiful sounds...so we practice more. Great lesson. Thank You Bernadette!!!

I love, love, love these warm-up videos! I humbly ask that you keep doing these. I so enjoy them. I particularly love that they go from easy to advanced. Easy is fun! Advanced is challenging but I like that. There is so much to learn about playing this instrument and that is what keeps me interested and committed. Otherwise, it would've been boring for me and I would've given up. I love a challenge! I am actually learning to play a bit of chord/melody. That is my challenge for this year. Found a wonderful tutorial by Tyler that I am determined to crack. Thank you Ms B. You have such a relaxed, natural way of teaching. I am so grateful that I found you, because if it wasn't for you, I would've never have discovered what a wonderful instrument the Ukulele is. I found you first, then I bought a Ukulele. Never looked back!

Hello! I am actually a drummer (40 years) guitar, bass and keyboard player. I wanted to try another instrument like guitar and Uke was PERFECT! I've only played 3 months and have learned the Uke from your lessons. You are a very GOOD teacher! I owe my uke skills to you and your expertise! Thank you much! Keep up the great work!

Gracias Bernadette, exactly what I needed to spice up my practice routine. I was getting a bit bored doing my normal scales, 4 chord progression, strumming and finger picking practice, but I didn't know what to do to change it up. This has given me a lot more to work with. I especially enjoy playing "Creep" using barre chords, I find it so much easier this way than going from the open G to the B chord. You are awesome, thanks for sharing your amazing teaching techniques. You rock!!

Enjoyed your chord progression video this afternoon. While you were playing the Hit The Road Jack chords, I realized that the same four chords, played more slowly, sounds like Bob Dylan's "One More Cup Of Coffee", one of my favorites by him. Then again, that chord progression has been used since time immemorial, I'm guessing. Anyway, I am having fun watching your videos and sometimes playing along with them!

Thank you again for another great video. I listened to your video today on your 2019 year and pray that 2020 is a great start to this next chapter in your life. I wanted to ask in your upcoming videos if you could include more chord melody strum/fingerpicking options to add variety to our playing style. I know that adds more work to developing a particular video. I don't have enough improvisation skills yet and hopefully this would open up that area for me as well as others. Hi Bernadette, I love the detail in your Tutorials, you demonstrate with such passion. The videos I am particularly interested in, are where you are demonstrating ahead of the chord changes for easier Finger Placement, and of course, there are so many useful 'short cuts' emphasising that knowledge. Such illustrations, gleaned in a flash from musicians, save months of laboured practice. "Lightbulb moments" that are essentially memorised. So thank you for all your determined and creative skills. I am even more doubly pleased having just received my family birthday present of the "Flight Diana Soundwave". I hope you receive a suitable commission? :) :) Very best wishes from a very cold and wet "Garden of England".

Thank you Bernadette. I’m going to be 70 this September and the ukelele I bought was the smallest one and I kind of having a hard time holding it because it’s laminate and very slippery. Since I only started couple of times I get frustrated coz I can’t hold it right. I don’t really want to spend for a bigger one but what do you think? Should I get a bigger one made of wood? Is there something you can suggest? I enjoyed watching how you teach and it’s making me want to play, it looks easy. Are there any ukelele easy old songs sheets I can practice to get me comfortable and enjoy my ukelele? Sorry for the long text but I’m glad to have found your site. I’ll memorize the easy chords and coordinate them with my fingers as you suggested. Thank you 🙏
