@@manynick5986 he’s a good story teller, when you’re listening to one, all you can do is listen and imagine it in your mind as he tells you every detail 🤷♂️
This is why Uli is so awesome. The dude understands that he’s partially to blame for whatever happened and he’s not trying to hide it. He’s saying probably shouldn’t have done some stuff. I have mad respect for people like this. Nobody’s perfect. Everybody does something stupid at some point. Keep being awesome Uli and I can’t wait to see you win a big one! I also love that he goes up to people he just brawled with and is like hey we are cool but are you willing to help me out. What a dude!
@@mattp4007you don't know the story though. He probably had some liquid courage & said some things he regrets. Doesn't mean he started it or was in the wrong. He just knows it likely could've been avoided. That's just how a fight goes.
As a married man traveling in Europe, losing your wedding ring during a bar fight shouldn't be an issue. Why did he feel it necessary to be at a bar where things got out of control when he has a hotel room to back to? It's not like he got accosted just randomly touring the town and documenting his journey to Europe. Nope. In a bar drinking when he is supposed to be there to try and WIN a tournament. Not like he stood any chance at winning but how does drinking at a bar and getting into a fight part of his preparation to win a tournament? I guess he wants to be tha John Dalely of disc golf?
@@youropionmattersnot I love reading through comments for the little things that make me laugh. Every once in a while I run into an idiot whose opinion really matters not. He already told you, the tournament was over. He did well. Guys wanted to go get some drinks to celebrate. Why not enjoy Norway? But novice players like you are so quick to point a finger as soon as someone messes up. He owed it, he told US he owed it, when he didn’t have to. So get off his damn back. I’m sure his punishment enough was having to tell his wife.
The Norwegians were lucky big Jerm wasn't there, he'd have broken down the backstory of the situation and added some personal stories for extra insight and by the end of it everyone forgot what they were doing there
While I do agree, I think it's important to also point out that Big Jerm has the unique ability to turn the most stock backhand shot into some overly complex forehand shot. Wait why am I here again?
Fights get out of hand very fast, especially in a bar setting. I’m happy to see Uli recovering and realizing that mistakes are made and corrected, good for you man!
I love Uli but if I was out drinking in a foreign country not wearing my wedding ring because of a bee sting, my wife would be asking to see a doctor's note and pictures of the bee's dead body.
I really appreciate that this podcast isn't a gossip factory. If it happens on the course, they talk about it. Cheers to keeping out of peoples personal lives. It would be cool if that happened more often in the community.
I’m glad Paul is good, fractured shoulder is bad enough but thank God he didn’t suffer TBI or broken neck, etc. it could have been worse. Speedy recovery sir!
Uli, we love the honesty, we love the underdog, we support you. Keep on doing what you’re doing. Every guy who is a real dude has been in a fight and it goes just like you said. Quick and painful and always wish we would’ve walked away or never been there at all.
For anyone curious, the podcast Uli references MIGHT be “Disc golf World.” Not saying that once Uli mentioned it, I didn’t go straight to the video knowing their channel is notorious for immature, click-baity material…but that’s exactly what happened.
@@curtisridenour “This week in disc golf” is literally labeled as a podcast on RU-vid. You can click “Podcasts” on their page and watch videos. Be gone, fool.
@@hemligman8221 it’s (mis)titled “Paul Ulibarri speaks up on controversy” despite criticizing him for not saying anything about it when THEY thought he should.
This is why Uli is a great advocate for the sport. And should be a role model for many young men and men in general. Uli you’re truly someone I respect and admire.
Probably sympathizes with Uli's situation. I wouldn't be surprised if Brodie has gotten jumped before. Especially being a loud outspoken guy. No disrespect, love Brodie.
You clearly haven’t been jumped, that’s the look you have when hearing a friend say he got jumped. Part, “I wish I was there for you” and part empathy.
You're the best Uli, well said. I model my putt after yours cause it freakin WORKS 🤣🤝thanks for everything you give to the community, much love and gratitude ❤
Great hosting. It's a challenge to listen to such an epic story, from the heart, and let it roll without interpretation. Listening to the story, I had so many questions that eventually got answered.
Props To Uli and Brody! You are Both STAND UP Guys! Even if Uli got trashed and got his butt kicked, Who hasn’t? Why do people have to hate on other people? I’ll tell You why…. Jealousy! Best Wishes for a Speedy Recovery for Uli!🙏💪👊🤘🤘
I'm glad we heard it from him directly. When I first heard about it, someone said he was probably hitting on someone's wife. I said that I doubted that because the man is married, and he doesn't come off as one of those kind of people to me.
Regulation Commentator here, Love to know that my man Uli gots a back to fight the fight for him self, both on the course and the street, good to hear that not everything is lost and there's a future for the love of the game 🧡
Damn Uli. It was great meeting you at Ledgestone. I heard stories however never got to chat with you and wouldn't have brought it up. I'm not a fan boi. I just respect the hell out of you guys at the top and up and coming. You handled this very well my friend. Next time only go out with brothers that have your back. Hope you heal up fast bud.
Love both you guys. You are both great for the sport and I can see that disc golf becoming mainstream in the next couple of years and it will be partly to the work you guys do advocating for the sport.
@@shrapnel77 Did you actually listen? He said a random guy came up to him and accused him of doing something he said he did not do before he got shoved
Cool, the other 35% you can swallow then. Cause it’s none of your business. He addressed the matter in how he felt he should and that’s the end of the story. No one cares what you believe or don’t believe 🤦🏻♂️ None of us are entitled to any bit of the story.
Dang, man. That sucks about his rotator cuff and tendons, where he definitely won't be able to throw FH without any discomfort. So likely, he'll have to pull out of the Worlds as well. I appreicate Uli taking responsibility, even if he didn't instigate anything. Just a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Anytime alcohol is involved in any setting, emotions can tend to go way out of hand. Crap can escalate without a moment's notice and all of a sudden, you are bruised and hurt trying to stop a fight. And he's so right about going to the source (being himself) and not from second-hand news from others that twist all the facts and create their own "truths" about what happened. Uli is a class act and wish him speedy recovery.
I played with Uli once at a MN Majestic. He was a lil snooty cuz he was down on my card and down the leaderboard but I understand he was young and has grown up a bunch since then.. but if you don't know him... he could come off arrogant.
This is the only thing I was worried about the whole thing once I heard him telling the story. The rest is water under the bridge but I hope he found his wedding ring.
My only comment in this entire thing is, if the other podcasts are more interested in stirring of drama and controversy than in actually telling the truth, and they are actively deleting the comments of the person who was actually involved, then I completely disagree with continuing to support them at all. I do not provide any support do someone willing to knowingly perpetuate lies and falsehoods to get attention for themselves, especially when the truth is readily available. It's one thing to bring up something that is speculative and discuss rumors, but once the truth is out, if you are actively removing the truth, you are no longer trying to inform, you are trying to censor and control, and you don't deserve one ounce of respect.
@coryryan2358 hornet sting, 100% get that ring off. I left mine on and barely got it off with all the swelling later, was starting to cut off circulation.
I like that you clear up the story, it takes some balls. Getting into a fight usually requires two persons and you being honest about it gives you all the respect. Next European Open beers on me! :D
Gute Besserung Uli. (get well soon, in german). Huge respect to you for taking some ownership. I hope to see you on lead card kicking ass, but take the time needed to heal properly. All the best.
Uli is a man for sure. Goes out, gets in a scuffle where both sides were at fault and instead of calling the police, laying charges etc just lets it go since there was no damage or so he thought at the time. Stuff happens. I hope Uli's shoulder heals up good as new.
I'll never take a story for fact until I hear it from the source and to be honest it really doesn't change my opinion of Uli one bit. He's a great content creator, he's a nice guy I've met him a couple of times, he's helping grow the sport I love, I really just wish Uli a fast recovery and hope everything turns out well. This was an interesting story and that's it!
@@redtreemouse I have the same feeling. I'm the kind of person that won't tell others how they should react, but I sure don't like it when people start to argue with others based on hearsay. Hey Cheers! May you have only good tree kicks the next round.
Thanks Paul, of course you would defend yourself & your name, that's what I would expect from you, that's why we love following you always straight to the point, saying it how it is. Never change its your super power.
Love everything about this from Uli. Love the comment by Brodie at the end. Moral of the story is that people need to mind their own f*cking business. Sorry that happened to you, Paul.
Remember when Uli told the story of getting randomly jumped on the disc golf course many years ago? Now this…..at what point are these things not coincidental?
You are in a bar fight and have three disc golfers with you. Who do you want to have your back? I am going with James Proctor, Gavin Babcock and Albert Tamm.
