One thing to watch out for is that there is a voltage drop (somewhere around 1 volt) across the darlington's CE junction, so that should be taken into consideration.
i have 20 of them in the mail now. Im not an expert but im building a few LED ladders for some smooth PC indicators (HDD CPU load etc.) However space is an issue and the boards have to be quite small, so this IC will come in real handy to replace the BJT`s
Is it possible to use this for audio? Im currently buildimg an analog string synth and I wondered if this would work like the TDA0470 chip used in old synths and organs to gate the octaves
Hey JAT, Awesome channel, I really enjoy checking out your reviews of chip amps, LED's, ULN2803 driver IC, etc.. I have not looked yet, perhaps you have a video on the LM383T audio amp. I have one built on a bread board, it kinda works in that the out put is really low, you can hear it but not as loud as a 7 +- watt amp should be. Do any pins need tied to ground as you have mentioned in one video, say pin 2 & 3? I didn't see anything in schematic that would suggest that, tried it and it did not work at all. It's 5 pins, how hard could it be. I want to make a higher watt guitar practice amp, however, this chip I think is for car audio application. Cass Virgillo Hi Cass, this chip is essentially identical to the TDA2003 and I made an amp using it (check my videos from about a year back). Pin 3 is ground on this IC (check datasheet). You should get around three clean watts from it using 12 volt supply and 4 ohm speaker.
