I always wish this character would somehow comeback.

I don't think that Ulquiorra's mask broke due to a single strong branch. I think that as Ulquiorra walked towards the center of the tree, small bits of the mask broke off as he finally felt content with himself.

Pretty sure the idea of his Mask breaking to become an Arrancarr was linked to the fact that he achieved some form of Nirvana and was at peace with himself as he sank into the void. This sensation of inner peace is likely what triggered his transformation and would make sense given that Hollows are created from Suffering tortured souls

That treebranch was all part of Aizens plan

If the anime ever comes back, this is the kinda filler we need, not beach party episodes!

Not gonna lie but Ulquiorra has one of the most saddest backstory in the Espada. A person who was searching for his humanity and what his purpose was only to realize that in his ending moments after Orihime's influence as well as Ichigo's made him understand what having a "heart" could be like as well as the feeling of love and compassion for something/someone. One the best Antagonist in Anime imo.

When people tell me "Bleach isn't deep" I present them with Ulquiorra Cifer's backstory. It is honestly one of the greatest pieces of literature I have ever read. I wish Tite Kubo had the chance to adapt this chapter into the anime but I also understand why it didn't happen-- because it's too depressing. The more I've read it, the darker it becomes. "Not Be, But Be" is the absolute embodiment of "a meaningless existence rotting away." Nihilism is a very strong word. Reading this, we understand why Ulquiorra was the way he was. We sympathize with him and it makes us love Ulquiorra even more after death, as we see the sorrow (it looked like tears were forming in his eye) and loneliness he endured for who knows how long. He was a Vasto Lorde wandering around the empty sands of Hueco Mundo incapable of doing basic things even the dumbest of Hollows had the privilege of performing. His past experience is what shaped Ulquiorra to what he was and it all makes sense. The scene with him and Orihime in Ulquiorra's room is perfect and added to their strange master/servant relationship. Orihime becomes surprised he is able to sleep and then adds the human prefix "kun" at the end of his name which Ulquiorra instantly disapproves and it makes Orihime sad. You can see it all over her face; she was saddened by the very person that captured her because even she could not understand-- as he does not understand her either. And it is because of Ulquiorra's past that he reacts in such a callous way. To quote Ulquiorra Cifer's ideology: "If such a thing called happiness exists, it should be something which resembles the limitless nothingness. Nihilism is having nothing and having nothing to lose. If that is not 'happiness' then what is?"

Okay, but can we all admire how Ulquiorra broke HIS OWN mask by himself, without even thinking about it? Without Aizen prompting him like all the rest to follow him for it? I'm so sorry if that mad no sense.

The thing is those trees are insanely brittle and weak Ulquioras existence is incredibly unique and rare and I wish he came back

what fascinates the most in this chapter is the implication of natural born vasto lorde being present in hueco mundo, i love the implied story shown without the need of dialogue, these VL born too weak to even leave this place, shown by their dark and imperfect forms are forced to eat each other to even survive, but once in a while, one different from the others is born, much stronger than the rest, who immediately gets ganged up by the others, probably in a attempt to eat him so they themselves can have a chance to get stronger and leave this empty place, ulquiorra obviously killed them all or at least a significant number of them and leaves, exeplified by his bloody hands on the next page. it almost implies that hueco mundo developed some sort of will, just like hell, when it became its own dimension, a will that derived from the primordial world in some way, the same will that might have even been responsible for barragans existence.

The tree branches are crystallised reishi. Such a big cluster of the trees would be extremely powerful. Powerful enough to trigger Ulquiorra's transformation into an arrancar.

I think Ulquiorra finally found his companion which was that white thorny bush. And for the first time he was happy. But he doesn't understand what is it that he is feeling, why did it made him feel relieved. He is a curious being always looking for a reason. And after meeting with Orihime he realized that there are many things that doesn't need any explanation or a reason. This is what I feel I might be wrong so don't come at me.

HM trees strong enough to make him a arrancar Aizen:" Gin Kaname set up the tree barrier. There is no way the Gotei 13 would break through " Kaname:" Sir we cannot uproot them! It's too strong!!" Aizen:" Shit...we'll just use the hougyoku"

I know this is old, but I have a theory. What if the breaking of his mask wasn't him becoming an arrancar but in a way limiting his power. And when Aizen found him in that form he thought the same, Ulquiorra being natural. Which is why he had two forms. One being how he was found and his second being his true form and the reason why he never showed Aizen because he was always alone in that form

I don't think Ulquiorra killed the other hollows, I think he was mutilating himself to see if he could feel pain or even kill himself. The blood isn't only on his fingertips.

Ulquiorra reminds me of Greed from FMAB. Just a loner with a chip on his shoulder desperately in an unknown need of companionship, and humanity 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Both Ulquiorra and Stark are the only natural arrancars in the Anime. Its literally because they both found some sort of peace that contracts and neglects the chaos, suffering, and primal desire which defines what being a hollow is. Also being a Vasto Lorde, not worried about regressing into a Gillian, helps. Especially as the vasto lorde transformation results in a lost of memory essentially. Paired with the fact that the more powerful a hollow becomes, the more it resembles a Soul Reaper, that makes being a Vasto Lord a perfect time to starting over into being an Arrancar through finding peace. Because all that evolution and power from it comes from a better balance against what is currently holding them back. Hence by the more powerful arrancars balance toward being soul reapers.

I theorize that with Roka and Aura’s abilities, Ulquiorra can be resurrected. Ulquiorra’s body turned to dust and probably dissolved into reishi when he died. His reishi still flows in the air high above Las Noches. If Aura can manipulate those Reishis to recreate his body and Roka recording down Ulquiorra’s information via her Negacion, then Ulquiorra can be revived.

I wonder how to vasto lorde progress? As if they broke their mask become natural arrancars.. How does the hogyoku comes into play like still need hogyoku to become arrancars or they become arrancar after natural Arrancar? i dont get it..

the tree is his antithesis as his comprehends life. the tree has no significance in hueco mundo. a branch represents 1 life, the tree represents living beings binding together, therefore becoming stronger and creating meaning for itself. the many trees together create life, a system with meaning. making even just 1 branch stronger when it has meaning in life. ichigo is a branch, the tree is his friends and family. how could a simple branch break his mask? how could a simple human beat ulquiorra?

Ulquiorra was a Hollow before he became an Arrancar, so I wonder who he was as a human. Would be interesting to know. I remember the end credits montage for those chapters in the anime showing Bleach characters in a, I suppose, alternate normal life, and one of those scenes has Ulquiorra, in normal human form, dressed as what looks like a detectives coat. I wonder if that’s who he was when he was human.

One of the most interesting characters in BLEACH. I really like him and how he grew at the very end of his life. One thing Kubo should've done was the cycle of souls. It would've been awesome to see some characters like Ulquiorra who gained a "soul" to be able to pass to the Soul Society and begin a new stage of life.

Ulqioura (has sec release, health regen, speed, lightning lance more powerful then black cero, most balanced char, more riatsu then the baragan and harribel, close and long range combat) 2. Stark (infinite stamina, limitless spam (black) cero, more riatsu then baragan and harribel, mostly long range combat) 3. Yammy (has sec release, infinite stamina, almost limitless strength, more riatsu then baragan and harribel, glass canon) 4. Baragan (nothing else to say was king before aizen came for a reason, hax aging ability only negated by someone with higher riatsu then him) 5. Harribel (nothing else to say was considered the queen before aizen came for a reason, has good balance of power and speed, stamina and intelligence, tremendous amount of riatsu but not more then baragan so will be killed by his aging ability) 6. Nel or Grimjaw debatable 7. The rest really dont matter that much...

My theory is he reach his second-to-last form but after trying to manifest his new form he had nothing in the black abyss that he was in and he could not remember anything so all he had was nothing this therefore he made the white body because it was the opposite of black but once he started to look around he noticed the differences between him and everyone else making his void even stronger until he found the patch of white trees / white thorns and it was able to cause him more pain that helped him break out of his shell and made him more relief to see something outside of the Void which was happiness

I was actually hoping I’d find something to confirm what I saw in another video about Ulquiorra’s power scaling and that his lance/spear in his ressurecion forms are Light Speed. Ulquiorra is such a hollow character...in a good way

My theory is that all hollows are lost souls. Often they seek to fill the void in their being. This often is seen as insatiable appetite. Constantly eating souls to fill this void caused by their life. Mistakenly it is believed that eating will help this emptiness to be filled. Yet what seperates the hollows is their level of consciounsess. The closer they can get to their original soul is how they evolve. Otherwise their subconscious dictate their forms. Ulquirroa form represents nihilism an aspect often realized at death. As he died he must have accepted that his life was meaningless. To have no hatred, desire or emotion he just felt nothingness as he died. The moment his hollow self realized and came back to this notion of nothing he was no longer a simple hollow. Each espada represents a notion of death. Their ranking doesnt just reveal power, but how their meaning in how they died and how they accepted. When Ulquirroa died he had no one. Cared for no one or anything. That void allowed him to remember this. Naturally a hollows mask symbolizes their delusions in death. Only by acceptance can they regain their humanity. As such their masks breaks revealing their humanity. Yet pieces still remain showing they can never truly regain their humanity. This why Vaste lordes are ranked so high they fully abandoned their humanity. Becoming berserkers who aren't the strongest, but are likely rapid beasts. Ichigo cero shows this by how he just compresses reshi so rapidly it becomes unstable. One mistake in that charge can destroy the user.

Ulquiorra's aspect of death is emptiness also he's one of the most unique of the arrancars since he is different than most hollows.
