if midnight hunt doesn't deliver, just have mayor and bandit rule zeroed as partner flavour "commanders"

Given mark, i honestly wouldnt be surprised if such a creature was printed.

Hopefully they left it out of the precons because they have a real banger in the works for the main set

good morning magic did a whole episode on why they aren't doing werewolf precon. TLDR its hard to print double faced cards, and you need sleeves. They want them out of the box playable

Mr Magic designer Gavin on his RU-vid channel said the commander decks released with sets are mostly for themes that are not the primary focus in the set so they can expand on abilities in the set that would otherwise be unplayable in commander without a deck introducing dedicated cards and more support for it. flip cards also have issues with printing when not printing for a whole set / randomized booster pack which is why we never saw werewolf theme / intro decks for any of the past innistrad sets and why they can't really do a commander deck with flip cards. Plus flip cards would REQUIRE there to be a token insert for every single one in the deck which takes up more space in only one of the commander decks (since the other decks wouldn't have as many flip cards and since they can't assume everyone has sleeves they must put them in). They said werewolves will play a huge part in this set (they're trying to take over innistrad) and commander has grown EXPONENTIALLY since eldritch moon and wizards has put more and more focus on commander and legendaries in standard sets since then (legendaries back then weren't as primarily made with the focus of commander in mind, maybe like 50% of them or something were). MARO on his Blogatog also got a LOT of flak and messages about the dissapointment of Ulrich when eldritch moon released, PLUS this time on innistrad they said they're trying to bring back the original feel and themes of innistrad (as some were dissapointed with eldrazi, I for one wasn't a fan of it but I did enjoy the Lovecraft feel in shadows but then eldritch moon was a bit too much but that set was still good and had tons of good cards and is my favorite OVER shadows. Standard back then was a ton of fun until kaladesh came along). I am HIGHLY certain they won't mess this up again especially since they have repeatedly been asked to print a good werewolf legendary ever since.

@@patrickboswell4399 this sounds like a blatant shitty corporate excuse especially since they heavily implied they wouldnt be doing that doublesided transform stuff for werewolves anymore. Once again vampires gets all the love rest of innistrad can just suck it i guess

@Jon Cowell Yeah, I guess to make Werewolves viable, you'd have to branch out into... white, as most werewolves are also humans? And then, you'd just have a sub- par naya humans deck?

@@NitpickingNerds Atla Palani is probably the best commander for a WRG werewolf EDH since the creatures you get out of the eggs are not _casted_ but put into the battlefield, so you can pretty much play creatures out of your deck and have them transform immediatly That said, the new legendary werewolf seems like it makes werewolves viable without having to rely on that But there's also a white werewolf, so there _might_ be more, which means Atla could still be a good pick over Tovolar, but if you just wanna go RG, then Tovolar *IS* the pick

Samut, Voice of Dissent is a decent werewolf commander in the meantime. Has flash so can be played around transformation triggers and gives your werewolves haste. Also access to white allows for you to play spell limiting cards like Archon of Emeria, Deafening Silence, etc.

Ulrich can lead a political deck very well, especially in multiplayer where you can transform him several times per round, with people wanting to keep him alive just to reuse his abilities.

Something, anything!!!

I finally had enough and made a custom commander for my play group. His transformation is a mana cost rather than the spell effects, and his flip side let's you lock werewolves in to their current form. That way you can actually use their flip sides. I hope there's a werewolf commander with something similar

Yep. Just because a legend is a werewolf, with a werewolf ability, doesn't automatically make it a werewolf leader.

@@NitpickingNerds the notion that packs of social animals (classically wolves, but people have applied it to humans) have 'alpha males' and so on. that's no longer believed to be the case, and it's been this way since before shadows over innistrad. it's merely a trope in that context and it would be mostly harmless if the idea hadn't been co-opted by people that just want to bully others and treat women like shit without being made to reckon with their actions.
