I used to be a manager at ulta. We used to sell used makeup and testers unofficially. I think its super great that you find a use for all the broken left overs. Also, the real reason we scratch the tops is because some people try to return or exchange the trashed palettes for new ones, or even money. If we leave a specific mark, we can distinguish between accidental damage and intentional damage. Also, love your videos!

I actually use to dumpster dive with my grandpa growing up and I found the coolest items doing that and even found cash multiple times!!! It was really fun

I just love dumpster diving! I just started but I am addicted! I can't believe the stuff that is thrown away! I would love if someday a law could be passed to let consumers donate the merchandise that is broken or partially used. It is cool because it amazes me all the stuff I find that is practically brand-new! And then it breaks my heart to know if I didn't take it out of the trash then it would have just been thrown away knowing someone could have used it. Keep doing what you're doing! I support you 100%. I am so glad you addressed picking up the trash around the dumpster, when I go and there is trash I pick it up to prevent them from getting mad and locking it up. Great videos and good advise

I'm 14 years old and I'm starting out in a makeup career and don't have a lot of money for makeup so I'm gonna start dumpster diver and I finally convinced my mom to let me start! So I can't wait for this weekend! But I love watching dumpster diving because I love how people get so happy about their finds and treasures it makes me so happy when others are happy so yeah I love dumpster diving, plus it's free makeup who couldn't be more happier?

make sure you read the signs around the store that says no trespassing or anything actually all it says no dumpster divers just make sure you read the signs and be careful and a lot of state if you go on somebody's property like stores and property that is trespassing after hours so also be careful that because you can do arrested or citation for trespassing after hours so make sure you'll be real careful on stuff and make sure you check local stores that what they say on the signs and stuff too

If I can add something. I would suggest buying one of those little head lamp thingys. My husband says they're great! It would leave both of your hands free. Also your gloves are nice & long however I kind of feel like something sharp might still cut you through them. Maybe you can find some that are more puncture resistant for your safety. Keep in mind I have NEVER gotten to go diving but am DYING TO! I am 52 & have several medical conditions that prevent me from getting to.😞 One of which is I need a knee replacement. Plus my husband & kids are totally against me going. I have an 18 year old daughter though who I KNOW would be absolutely drooling over this stuff if only she would keep an open mind about diving & watch videos with me. Very first one I watched I was HOOKED! Dive on sister! Someday I hope to go too!!!

I have always loved finding something for cheap or free. This one thrift shop I used to buy from would often leave boxes of merchandise they didn't think they could sell on the curb for people to take! I found so many cool things in there... dishes, clothing, christmas decor, ect.

I totally agree about saving and donating- there's so many people I need. FYI- I use a headlamp flashlight- keeps your hands free. Also as far as gear- I keep a grabber- $1 store- a long tool to grab items with, and a three step step stool that folds up. Their in my car at all times. And the gloves - similar to yours, but more like work gloves that I found new DD ing!

I think dumpster diving is cool because you get to try thing that you may not be able to afford, also it reduces wasting (since you can use the product and then recycle the packaging). I'm not sure if it's legal here in Mexico but I should give it a try.

Honestly I think it's good for the environment and I have a big family so it saves money

I like them still driving and I think it's really cool because you're getting things for free and you're saving the environment and you're also taking your wallet and that whenever you dumpster dive you can see like what's in the store so then like if this destroyed like right at that moment that you're looking in the dumpster you can wait a couple of weeks or days and see if they have something that's less teardown

I recently had an Epiphany where I have come to the conclusion that I need to make life better for me and my family. Using things people tend to waste and helping our environment is good. But helping my family anyway I can is even better.. I enjoy all the cool stuff you can get while dumpster diving. Either it's being used as is or up cycled to fit our needs!! Love the videos(:

My bf and I are both poor college students just trying to afford rent ect. I used to be so closed minded when it came to it. Specifically because one of my neighbors does it and they're very rude people I even had to warn them about taking bed bug stuff from someone else they didn't even appreciate it. But there's bad people everywhere and I think dumpster diving is a wonderful thing. All that good stuff goes to waste it's terrible! Aw that's too bad that people can only win by posting on Instagram:( I don't do social media at all just strictly watch RU-vid videos. I literally don't even have more than $10 to my name so I dumpster dive for everything, clothes especially. I don't think that I even own one clothing item that I didn't find in a dumpster. Also all of my furniture comes from there as well, I just wait for the first of the month when people are moving in and out. I don't own any makeup (besides some foundation) but I have been looking at ultas and many other places each night and they always lock their dumpsters so I'm just out of luck :/ I can't believe people would think this is gross because literally all the clothes I have ever found have always been (strangely) washed before they tossed them but I always just wash everything I get when I get home and it's always good as new! I just cannot believe how many people just toss things and go buy new shit! My life motto "one persons trash is my treasure

i dumpster diving can be gross to some people but i think its more than that. Its super cool to be able to save the environment and help the planet little by little, and what best way to do it while getting make up :D. Even when you dont get anything in return, there is always the satisfaction of knowing you did something good today specially for the planet and those around us even when they dont notice.

When getting into the dumpsters, are you ever worried about needles? Do you live in an area where there's a needle recycling system and stuff? Needs that people have used can carry hepatitis! Just something to think about, not trying to stop you just want to help you take more precaution! maybe some puncture resistant gloves and a grabber or something similar to grab stuff from the bottom and then just clean up after yourself instead of getting inside? just some ideas for you and other people that may be reading.

I used to work at a store that catered to teens. After back to school we threw away tennis shoes, backpacks, and really cool school supplies. I got permission from my DM to take what we would have tossed to a local orphanage and a group home for troubled teenagers. The kids got cooler stuff than they otherwise would have, and my company got a tax write-off. win-win!

Dumpster diving is literally the coolest thing ever!! You can save so much money, save the planet and truly benefit yourself and others by doing it. Its truly one of the coolest things in the world!! I cant wait to start!

wOw, A Really Long True story for real! If I had a way of taking the larger stuff or multiple items when dumpster diving, I would. When I found out that grocery store was closing, I got to go 3 times and found a good amount of stuff, on the last day I was able to go, the dumpster was filled with lots of TV dinners from cheaper to Hungry Man, I did take alot, although had I been able to take more I would have. My house is 4 rooms, 5 if you count the hallway and its separated by 2 connected lines, the kitchen, bathroom and hallway are on one line, while the living room and bedroom on the other line. I come close to burning the house down cause of this fact when I put 2 heaters on the same line and overloaded the electricity and it even put my refrigerator out of commission for about a week to get the cord replaced and that was not fun. I would like to have the electrical upgraded to brand new wiring with multiple connections from the breaker box, so that will never happen again, just no money. Cause of this fact I can not heat the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and even the hallway, I choose to do it this way in hopes my dogs will stay warm, yet those drafty holes in their room make it hard to keep it warm, so if you are a praying person, pray that GOD intercedes, one day I may just want to leave if that's GODs plan, I would move if I could in a way, the noisy horns that pass through hurts my babies ears and they will wail in pain and if I had the money to buy or even rent a place that would accept dogs, I would consider moving, yet most rent houses I checked on, up to $600+, they also don't allow dogs and I get a total of $726 in social security. I probably could get a low income apartment, however most will not let you have large dogs, Charcoal and Mandy are Labradors and I do not want to get rid of them, someone threw them out like garbage and I can NOT bring myself to do that to them, they are my BABIES! I LOVE THEM TOO MUCH! I don't know what plans GOD has for us. I hope I can figure that out and move on if that was GODs plan. I wanted to stay in this house because it was my grandmas house, being it was historic I wanted to live here all my life, yet there is no stores close and I would have to bike up to 15 miles or more if I wanted or needed to go to town, it takes around 2 hours one way, 4 hours both directions and no bathroom stops unless you find a tree to hide behind and no real way of carrying dumpster finds or even purchases for that matter. Because I am so POOR, I don't even see a vehicle in my future and no way of driving. Things just happen that we can't explain that only GOD has the answers to. I would like to do better, much better than I am now. My life has crashed down on top of me, though I haven't suffocated yet, sometimes it feels like it, I HOPE GOD INTERCEDES SOON IN OUR LIVES! HOPE YOU HAVE A TRULY BLESSED DAY and NIGHT!

Worst time of the year to go dumpster diving in Kansas would be Sundays at 12AM. Was good diving at a Sprint store until yesterday when a cop from my city went by.

I love dumpster diving because most of the stuff is brand new and can be used. It's so cool cause it's free and you don't have to spend $80 on one palette. Another reason is because your helping the planet. You also can look like your super rich with all the stuff you find.

i dont even know how i found this video but this is so awesome. I love the fact that dumpster diving helps the environment and that you can also get awesome things for free when they arent even used or opened yet. It really makes me mad that these companies have to destroy these amazing products that are in perfect condition just because they dont want to sell them anymore or stuff like that. It honestly confuses me that thses brand name companies are throwing away products that are a) harmful to the environment and b) perfectly good products that deserve to not be thrown in a dumpster.

I'd bring a big flashlight and a rake to dig thru and pick up so you don't need to jump in, there's glass in there. etc.

I went dumpster diving for the first time tonight and I hit the jackpot at the 99cent store... Old Navy cut up EVERYTHING and I mean to the point you couldnt even tell what it was. Did keep half of a scarf though. Doesnt look like its been cut. Also found one shoe to an air jordan pair and to an airmax pair but couldnt find the other shoes.

So I scored huge at my local ulta! And I was neat about it and as far as I know I went unnoticed, it was late but not that late, anyway I went by there a wk later, pulled 2 boxes out and this time EVERYTHING WAS DESTROYED! like even the shampoos n foundations were sliced open, mascaras opened i mean just every single bit just obliterated!! I almost cried! So is why these? Did someone see me? I was fast! Maybe different employee? It was heartbreaking! Any advice? Tips? Tricks? Lol it was a sad sad day to see so much great stuff killed!! Dumpster diving is REALLY cool because you find a lot of amazing product to use for yourself, as a gift, or sell for cheap. And it's a great way to be active about helping the environment!

Thank you for reminding your viewers to be clean and courteous 😊also, the trash gets taken out during "truck" on Thursday and Friday and it's a company policy to not take the trash out after 5 pm .... probably better nights to go find your "salvaged" pallets as they have only been in the same bag as used tampons for a few hours 😒😒😒

I think dumpster diving is cool because 1, I'm a mom of 3 and I like to look my best but I can't afford tons of fancy makeup and 2, because sometimes stores toss out tons of perfectly good product! Why waste when you can clean it up and use it, right? Thank you for the chance!!

Dumpster diving is a way of keeping stuff out of the landfills that don't need to be in them, and you can give stuff you find to those who might not be able to get them. You can go diving at health food places, where they throw away perfectly good food to make room for new displays and donate it to those in need which is really awesome too!

Honestly I have never went dumpster diving but I have been looking into it. I love makeup. I love doing makeup. I love giving others and myself facials and makeovers. However I can never afford it because I'm raising three kids by myself. Also I am always looking for new ways to recycle and reuse. If you haven't, check out recycle bank. I don't have a weak stomach at all as a matter of fact I have worked at a landfill before and that didn't bother me at all. I've always been kind of a tomboy anyhow and have never been afraid of getting dirty. Thanks for helping to take care of our precious land. Thanks so much for the helpful tips. New Subscriber here! I've been watching a bunch of videos on dumpster diving because I've been thinking of doing it for a while. I haven't started yet because I'm about to move out the state I'm in. But I plan on looking up the laws and everything before I move to see if I'll be able to legally dive when I settle into my new place!

Actually the best way to defend yourself while dumpster diving is simply to record youself doing it... It will stop them from claiming you are dumping or making a mess.

This is awesome the first time I dumpster dived I literally found over $2000 worth of make up from Ulta hair straightener curler brand-new in the box and everything was brand-new and I guess one of the employees was gonna take it because my boyfriend said I bet you $1 million that was set there for one of the employees and sure enough the next day we go back. They start ripping shit dumping shit now they soup everything break the bottles everything in must I remind you we left it neater when we left then when we first got there the only way they wouldn't known we got in that dumpster is if somebody went to go get that stuff out in seen we took it because the dumpster is not visible to security cameras or anything it's messed up I swear now it's like he can't even dumpster dive because they open everything dump everything out ripped everything to shreds it's horrible I get so mad because they're throwing it away who am I hurting!? The planet is so messed up already and keeping it in the garbage for there to be more hazardous waste full cans of hairspray it's just crazy it's like I can't find a good place the one place I found they ruin everything now

I find great that you recycle goods / dumpster dive. And your reasoning why they just throw away. It inspired me also to check the super market (helped myself and 2 others) and what turned out .. the local restaurant also gets there food (as I saw them unloading in the citycentre where was another dumpster I went to (my former neaighbour is now there manager and he told me he has no problem for 'diving' in his dumpsters. The city forbits . So you get a fine (approx 90 US$) Jurispondence allows in certain cases. as long as you do not make a mess. You gave the example peeing in public and that you can end homeless.. I experience the same by a wrong registration of the municipal ( Lee Chun) and resulterd in legal procedures , taxoffice, i.e. kind of financial suicide for the last years. Will see 2017 brings. PS Madness in The Netherlands: VLOG = seen as broadcasting station (last month) and you have to pay tax. My dream is once to visit USA and dumpster dive ;-)

I am a beginner dumpster diver. I hit a jackpot my very first time. Need to learn more about the different schools.

We were behind Marshall's and this car came up behind us so I put my emergency blinkers on and they just stood there..we acted like we were eating lunch and talking...they wouldn't leave!!! They kept their distance...so we left and looped back around and saw same car parked..we think it was a manager...the night b4 a manager stopped us and told us there was glass and she got a call about us...but there was no security or cameras...we think she was leaving or getting to work...keep in mind this is same center...so we left and came back after dark....NO glass but 50 sheets of cricket vinyl and sticker paper torn so it cant be put in machine....these were 12 bucks each and awesome for our scrapbooking!! My concern is at Marshals they took our licence or pix...either way it was kinda creepy.So we don't know if they were just coming thru and found us because there are no cameras anywhere!!
