The accessibility of wall running was such an incredibly rewarding find for a 9 and 10 year old like my brother and I. The whole rest of the game we checked every nook and cranny! But alas! We played the unpatched version that led to an inevitable watery grave!
Ive tried to learn this run by checking your video i made it to 7m20 and my guy disappeared in the abyss lol. Really hard run. GG. I think I'm giving up.
Yeah thats a common rng runkiller. Sometimes you just go unstable and fall straight up. Main thing is dont walk up there until you have sucessfully self moved to the safe spot (see where i drag to once i get up). Once safe, walk until you fully up against the invis straight wall. Then self move a dew pixels across the wall and walk a step to drop back down in bounds. There is similar trickyness to the OOB self move in zealan shrine. Get SVN daum dosbox which has a save state feature. This lets you really drill hard on these self moves and the run post mythran glitch. For faster help tag me in the discord. Aright thx for the info i was trying to look for a new game to run and it was fun but way too "unstable" ill stick to my diablo1 run until ill get any% wr everywhere ( each class) maybe ill come back to this game later.
Ultima 8 is what got me into RPG. Even though I see now that it really isn't one. When I was a kid I didn't notice the flaws, but I've played through this game several time. Why hasn't there been mods, updates to the game? Let me guess EA.
Pentigram is a 3rd party remake with mods like higher res and click to move. You should check it out. The big update would have been the cancelled expansion pack
@@rattus1285 I haven't looked into Pentagram for years, since 2014. I figured it was abandoned. I could never figure out how to run it. I just downloaded ScummVM and installed the game. It runs better than playing on legacy systems. Is Pentagram still a thing then, is it a separate download?
Theres is the cheat mode for moving walls etc that requires editing the game files. Thats banned in speedruns. The glitch im using here is different the cheat mode. Im using a control esacape (spell scroll) on mythrans lightning bolt while purple potioned to keep playing after the game thinks Mythran has killed me. This is what makes the avatar movable and immune to most damage and aggro.

@@rattus1285 How is it your character moves so damn fast? It almost looked like the footage was sped up, except all the cut scenes where you lose control are normal speed. Don't see anything about this in the wiki.

Lol. Its way more intense than you think. Not only do you have to space all your fixed length jumps, but many of the OOB clips dont work in that version. The mythran death glitch still needed for about an 15 mins of skips, but you need to do Hall of the Mountain King, no save/load. 45 min run where every water misstep is a hard reset.
Or, you dont know what your talking about and have never checked the game options or done any research. The speed limiter option unchecked caps at a flat run speed independent of CPU. It is simply a game speed option. It is not open ended speed from modern hardware. Discussed with other current runners and is cross approved on speedrun.com
