I have thoroughly used and tested all of the current Apple Watch models, from the SE 2, to the Series 8 and the Ultra. Today I am going to be comparing the whole Apple Watch lineup, and I have broken this down into three categories: Best Value, Best Overall and My Choice. Let’s find out which category belongs to which Apple Watch and why, so you can make the best purchase decision. Apple Watch SE 2, Best Value, perfect first Apple Watch. $249 / £259. It has a modern design with a large rounded display similar to the Series 8. In terms of features, it has all the essential Apple Watch features and some more: Notifications, Track workouts, Heart rate measurements, Fall detection, new crash detection, Maps, Siri, All day battery life, No fast charging but still charges fast enough. Same S8 chip as from Series 8. Noticeably faster than previous SE1. Will receive software updates for 5-6 more years. For $249 it really offers a lot of value and is in my opinion a fantastic place to start if you are new to the Apple Watch. Apple Watch Series 8, Best Overall smartwatch. $399 / £419. Series 8 represents the best of the best of smart watch industry. Starts with display. 20% larger compared to the SE 2. Thinner bezels. Also adds on-screen keyboard. Only complaint, like SE 2, display scratch easily. Have video comparing screen protectors for Apple Watch. Favourite feature is always on display. Matters more than I thought. Check time subtly. Watch face on screen at all times. Compelling reason to go for Series 8 over SE. In terms of features Series 8 takes all SE 2 has and adds. That larger always-on display. ECG readings. Blood oxygen sensor. Temperature censor. Same 18hr battery life and adds 33% faster charging. The S8 chip is equally great on the series 8. Operates snappy and will last for years! For $399 it is a serious purchase but Series 8 truly has it all and the competition, even from other brands, don’t come close. If you are already an Apple Watch user, series 3 or 4, looking for big upgrade, for the extra money the Series 8 does offer some really great additional features from health to the always on display that I think make it worth it! Apple Watch Ultra, My Choice. The biggest and baddest Apple Watch ever with a price to match. $799 / £849. Large 49mm Sapphire display (0 scratches). 2000 nits brightness. Durable titanium build. 2-3 day battery life. Customisable action button. Large display, large battery and durable design. Make this a fantastic everyday watch, you may even call it an ultra version of the Apple Watch. Large display - reading text, keyboard, maps, meals, apps, photos
Large battery - I charge it every 2 to 3 days, 4 days in low power mode. It is worth it? For most, no. The SE 2 offers way better value and the Series 8 at half the cost is a far better overall option. But for those avid Apple Watch users, who want the biggest and baddest Apple Watch to come, this is it! But again for those looking to get their first Apple Watch, get the SE 2 and for those looking to upgrade their older Apple Watch, trust me the always-on display and added health features make the Series 8 is worth it!

Just brought my first Apple Watch (SE2) and I love it. Still wearing my Fitbit Sense 2 since it has blood oxygen, ECG, etc. Still loyal to Fitbit since 2015 when my daughter first gave me one for Christmas. Even brought the SE2 for my daughter for her birthday (April 2). She lives in South Korea and this is her 1st Apple Watch. Thank you for making these videos. Very helpful.

Very helpful, thanks! I'm currently trying to decide which one should I go for, the 8 or the SE... I won't really use the extra health functions, and can't spend more for the stainless steel model, but the 20% larger screen, the longer battery life & the quicker charging just makes me lean towards the 8. Plus the 8 is supposed to be dust resistant - and I work outdoors... Would you say the 8 is considerably more durable than the SE when comparing the aluminum models?

For the scratches I’ve got a stainless steel series 4 that’s 4 years old and has no scratches on the display. In my opinion stainless steel is worth it even with the extra cost. My 4 is still perfectly fine.

I think if you want to keep your device long term the ultra or stainless steel series 8 is a good option. Will cost abit more but paying for more durable materials which will keep the Watch looking great over the long haul

Doesn't matter much, Apple is known for their "programmed obsolence" like many other brands. So even if you keep it looking pristine, it will be outdated and stop getting updates to the point you will need to change it. Its foolish to make an investment in this planning in "future proofing".

Got an Iphone 13 late December. Very satisfied with it. Battery life is amazing. Charging it once every 15 hours is more than enough for me.

I would go for the apple watch se2 because it's affordable plus if you have an older apple watch this one is perfect. I have an apple watch series 4 and the apple watch se2 would be what I would upgrade too because the apple watch series 8 would be overkill for me.

Hi Rudo, what I get from third parties research that AOD will make a difference of around 20% per 24 hrs, so 30% left instead of 50% for example

I would go for the Apple Watch series 8 because the Apple Watch SE unfortunately doesn’t come with all the features I desire and the Apple Watch Ultra seems too overwhelming for me. The Apple Watch series 8 on the other hand is perfect for me. It is all I dream of and desire 😍!

After watching this video, I made my decision. I currently have the first generation SE. The battery life is not good anymore. I don’t really do much on my Apple Watch, but because I didn’t have low power mode up until a few months ago (I love low power mode), the battery started to get really bad. I use low power mode on all of my Apple devices, and it sucks that it wasn’t on the Watch I have. I was thinking about getting the second generation Apple Watch, but I decided that it wouldn’t be a good upgrade. Then, I thought about getting the 8, but I just didn’t want to go to a small screen like that. The ultra is great for me. Not just because of the battery life, but because of the big screen and durability. I know that the ultra will last a very long time for me. I won’t use all of the features, but I will definitely use this Watch for when I workout, and etc. I do have small wrists. I did worry that the Watch would be too heavy. I didn’t like how bulky the Watch was at first. The looks from videos made me not want to get it. But, I won’t mind the size of the Watch. Anyway, thanks for an amazing video 🥰!! You helped me pick out the iPhone 14 Plus out of the 14 lineup 🤗

Just bought an se 2 last week after having a budget smartwatch for a while and I absolutely love it! There is a lot to learn but it’s easy to figure out once you get the hang of it. That said the se 2 is well worth the investment and I feel like it’s gonna fit most people’s needs

Depends on one’s wrist size. In my case, for the regular Apple watches (not the Ultra) I prefer the smaller sizes (circumference of wrist is 155 mm)

I bought mine in December. The always on display doesn't bother me. I grew up in the 70's when high tech digital watches had a blank display and you had a press a button to see the time! I also tested the battery life and got 60 hours!

Hi, that is a bit strong language. For regular watch I prefer the smaller size as the circumference of my pulse is 155 mm. The size then looks more elegant and in line. The Ultra is a completely different watch, a watch that is designed for being, well, being ultra, drawing attention etc. At least, that is the way I see it :)

Hi, no problem. As I said, for a regular watch the smaller size is my favorite in light of my wrist (155 mm). All is personal of course, but I stand with this recommendation. The Ultra is no regular watch, it is meant to impress, to be noted, to be discussed and yes, that goes with an oversized model. In general I prefer to wear the SE2 or 8 (as content creator I have this luxury) as it fits me. The Ultra is a bit of an acquired taste and there are many out there who do not like it. Sorry, but I can not make more out of this. Enjoy your watch, I am sure you will be very happy with it!

Hey Dion, I completely agree with you. The Apple Watch se2 doesn’t have an aod and so even if I was a new customer or user. That is a deal breaker for me. I can’t have a blank Watch on my wrist. I also wish the ultra had that curved cool display from the series 8 but it had that amazing durability so I won't say anything about that because it makes sense.
