I'm from Austria and I've been to Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, South Korea and Japan... but no country is THIS strict on their biosecurity! I can fully understand it though, because NZ is such a secluded ecosystem. Wonder how it'll be when I arrive after having spent a week in Taiwan. Thanks for the indepth look at the process. :)
@NZPocketGuide
@NZPocketGuide 5 месяцев назад
It's impressive to hear about all the countries you've visited! New Zealand's biosecurity measures are indeed among the strictest in the world, largely due to its unique and isolated ecosystem. They work hard to protect it from foreign pests and diseases. After spending time in Taiwan, it's a good idea to be extra mindful of any hiking gear, outdoor equipment, or items that have come into contact with soil or nature. It's a country on their "watchlist" so make sure everything is clean and declare anything you're unsure about upon arrival in NZ. Honesty is appreciated by the biosecurity officers, and they're there to help ensure a smooth process. If you need more information or travel tips, our Patreon community at patreon.com/nzpocketguide is a great resource. We're happy to help with any questions about traveling in New Zealand. Safe travels, and enjoy your journey! 🌿✈️🇳🇿

You mentioned a fee need to be paid after declaration of over NZ$10,000 that a visitor is bringing into the country. Why so?

Thanks for video, very informative. Do you need to remove your glasses when using the E-Gate? Thanks
@NZPocketGuide
@NZPocketGuide 6 месяцев назад
Hi there! I'm glad you found our video informative. Regarding your question about the E-Gate: generally, you do not need to remove your glasses when using the E-Gate for passport control, as long as they are not tinted or heavily framed. The system is designed to work with standard eyewear. However, if you have any issues or are asked by the staff, it's easy enough to remove them for the facial recognition scan. Heading to NZ in 2 weeks and was wondering where to declare my OTC pills like tylenol etc? Should I put this under food or medicine?
@NZPocketGuide
@NZPocketGuide 6 месяцев назад
Hi there! Exciting to hear you're heading to NZ soon! Regarding declaring your OTC pills like Tylenol at Auckland airport, it's best to declare them under 'medicine'. New Zealand has strict biosecurity laws to protect its unique environment, so it's always a good idea to declare any medicines or food items you're bringing into the country. When you arrive, simply let the biosecurity officer know you have these medications, and they'll guide you through the process. It's usually straightforward, especially for common OTC medications. For more detailed advice and travel tips, you might like to join our Patreon group. It's a great way to get in touch with us and other travelers for personalized guidance. Plus, we have weekly group calls that are super helpful for planning your trip. Check out patreon.com/nzpocketguide for more details. Have a fantastic trip to NZ! 🌿✈️🧳

Can you confirm if normal shoes,sandals and trainers that are clean need to be declared in NZ Auckland.
@NZPocketGuide
@NZPocketGuide 5 месяцев назад
Yes, it's a good idea to declare your shoes, sandals, and trainers when entering New Zealand, especially if they have been used outdoors. Even if they are clean, it's best to declare them to be on the safe side. New Zealand's biosecurity laws are very strict, and footwear can carry soil, seeds, or contaminants that pose a risk to their unique ecosystem. When you arrive, simply inform the biosecurity officer about your footwear. They may inspect them and, if necessary, clean them. It's a straightforward process and shows respect for their biosecurity efforts. For ongoing support and more detailed advice, our Patreon group offers weekly group calls, perfect for planning your trip and asking any questions you might have. Plus, you'll have access to our secret Facebook group for asking questions all week long. Check it out at patreon.com/nzpocketguide for more travel guidance. Safe travels! 🌿👟✈️

how about over the counter medications? Do we still need prescriptions?
@NZPocketGuide
@NZPocketGuide 4 месяца назад
For over-the-counter (OTC) medications brought into New Zealand, you generally do not need a prescription. However, it's important to declare any medicines you're bringing into the country, including OTC medications, to comply with New Zealand's biosecurity laws. When you arrive, simply declare these items on your Passenger Arrival Card. Biosecurity officers may ask about the medications to ensure they meet New Zealand's entry requirements. Remember, the key is to be transparent and declare all items to ensure a smooth entry process into New Zealand. For more detailed advice and planning for your trip to New Zealand, our Patreon community at patreon.com/nzpocketguide offers great resources, including weekly group calls and access to a secret Facebook group where you can ask questions and get insights for your journey. the gauntlet you traveled seems quite long. Are there places along the way to sit briefly if you're an older person like me

Haha I love the fact that you called it a "Gauntlet"! It feels like this at times!!! Yeah plenty of sitting along the way, no stress with that. None in the duty free section though I think...
