Great selection of Restaurants Chris. I visited Jai Fai on Maha Chai Road years before she became a Micheline Star place and even back then she had line ups for 40 minutes plus, so waiting for 1 hours is no biggie. I need to go visit her again now that she is a Celebrity

Pandan leaves, such a delicate but distinctive flavour, that just adds an extra something to dishes, like many ingredients. In Thai cooking though, their expertise in combining these flavour notes together, is what makes it really stand out.

I walked by Krua Khun Puk about 5 times on my way to Det5 and honestly have to say didn't know it was another great place to go. They look so hidden when you are walking down the street you pass by them so quickly!! Great job on this vid.

OMG, I have my boring dinner in US while watching you having my favorite Thai food in Thailand. Jok is a dish that Thais like to eat as breakfast because it is very hot when it's served. No wonder you both were sweating 😅. That's Pad see ew is really caught my eyes. Although I am Thai, I have never seen Pad see ew looking that good. I am sure it tastes very good too!

Absolutely another great video Chris. We're back in Thailand for the winter currently up north in Chiang Rai province at my Wife's home. At some point I'm hoping to get to spend sometime in Bangkok. Sudar was the go to when I lived and worked in BKK living on Sukhumvit - used to sell the coldest beer in BKK. Recommend if your downtown

That dish wasn't chives. But it's the blossom of an onion. There are a lot of them in my garden and we sell them. I prefer stir-fried scallion flowers with chicken liver.

Been going to Suda for years. I think they do many dishes very well. I also recommend the place for people first time in Thailand if they stay in Sukhumvit area. Its less intimidating than streetfood, priced fair, english menu....Its a good spot.

Jok was originally what farmers would eat around Asia, Farmers in Rice Growing regions in India eat similar Rice Porridge with condiments as accompaniments to enhance the bland flavors. In Thailand its become a gourmet dish, impressive.

You might have missed it, but they were “hosted”. Chris didn’t have a bill. You can easily do a 2023 menu search for her restaurant to see the most current menu prices. 1,300 THB for the omelette. 2,000 THB for the crab curry. It’s the most expensive “street food” in all of Thailand. Better to go see Chef Gaggan Anand!

Another great video, Chris! These restaurants that you've explored with Hailey are undoubtedly excellent, and I look forward to trying them soon. However, I must confess that what I often prefer are the authentic street-side eateries on the sidewalks of Bangkok, with their rickety chairs and tables, where you sometimes discover something miraculously delicious!

Sadly, Jay Fai has morphed into a tourist trap joke! Not worth the hype in 2023. Twenty years ago, it was a much different story.

@@Visor8888 When we first started traveling to Thailand decades ago, we were young, budget-conscious travelers and JF and Suda were a good fit. That is no longer the case. No idea what thoughts enter the minds of young travelers these days, but JF might well be their answer. Suda is still great for an ice cold beer outside. Hemingway’s is long gone, though that is what put Suda on the map.

Went this year. It was a really long wait (2.5 hours) to get overpriced, overhyped food. The staff was stressed because the people waiting were stressed. I have had a better crab omelette in Bangkok for less than a quarter of the price at Jay Fai. However, the pad see ew and tom yum were quite tasty.

I am UPSET!! I woke up in a cold sweat a month ago thinking to myself "what if I start up a tech company like yelp but for all the little nameless mom and pop shops! THEN I can move to Thailand on a tech startup visa!" And now I hear about TEENEE, and I keep wondering WHY do I miss the bus on EVERYTHING??? 😢😢😢
