It's fate, this video just came into my recommended right when I need help with batocera and my steamdeck. My issue goes further than your setup guide. At this point I'm willing to pay for help lol. Damn arcade controls.

@@JustJamie1983 The fact that it's fate? Yeah, I'd agree lol. Maybe you can help me? I run batocera on a steamdeck and it works great portably. Just set up an arcade and have it running through HDMI into my atgames legends ultimate. Configured both gamepads (arcade joystics) in batocera and they work great. Controls set up to dpad. But the build i'm running has mame and sega model 2 set to analog for movement. I can't find a way for both emulators to reset the controls individually. Can you assist? Every other emulator works perfectly fine with the config I did in batocera itself. Keep in mind that this is a steamdeck docked, connected through hdmi, into an ALU that has it's joysticks connected through Bluetooth.

@@stefanortego186might just be an issue with the emulator, I’d recommend connecting to a PC as it has more options I believe then are available to steam deck.

Great video. If you want revert back to steam OS how do you do this. I have a sd card that I use for steam os. Do I risk messing up that data when trying to revert back?

Just put SteamOS onto a separate card and boot up as normal

Hi Jamie. Congratulations. Your vídeos have a mané informations and they have helped me. O have a Lot of problems with batocera x64 for Pc, and i have nota been able to configure Future pinball in my system at ALL. Wine crashes and does not allow me to start The tables. I try in v35, v36, v37 and finally V38. Pless Just help me. LOL.

Hey Jamie, this might be a dumb question but I'm a little confused about the Batocera download. Do I need to extract it first or leave it as a WinRAR file? I would think it needs to be extracted but I'm not sure since you didn't mention it in your video. UPDATE: Nevermind, I figured it out lol. I just went ahead and took a chance at not extracting the file and flashed it to my micro SD card and it booted right up on my Steam Deck, so all good! Now I just need to start adding my Bios and ROMs👍

Bit late but anyway, was gonna say you dont have to extract the image, but I always do. Im guessing if you dont it may take a little longer to flash, thats all.

I did everything you did and it said I have to format the sd card before I can use it when I was validating the flash. Now I don’t know what to do. My sd card says batocera and it says there’s only 7gb storage. I’m confused. Which format does the sd need to be formatted in?

That’s normal. Windows does that when I use a usb card reader. Just put it in the Steamdeck when finished. It will correct itself.

So when updating: do you choose butterfly or stable?

Stable is safest.As its latest final release of any version. Butterfly is the beta versions and often things may not be working properly. So v39 is latest but V40 is in butterfly, and that will usually get updated frequently.

You can install Batocera to the existing internal drive but it will delete the steam OS yes.

Must be a small difference to regular steam deck as the changlelog for Batocera v39 says: "Initial support for the Steam Deck OLED" (As well as a few other models) V39 is still in beta but Im guessing stable version will be released sometime this month. If the span between previous stable releases are anything to go by.
