Honestly, the lyrics and performance on this song aren't terrible. It's the MIXING of the singer's vocals that kills it for everyone. It sounds like he recorded it in his bathroom and just submitted it to Funimation.

The sad thing is that the ones singing this aren't actually that bad. I just don't think this was the right song for them, and I don't think the lyrics fit with how the song is structured up. If this were different, I'd probably enjoy this more. I think these singers have talent, just that this wasn't the song for them.

The only justification I can have for this version is just the fact it was made. While most purists would rather keep everything original including the VA, I appreciate them making it more of their own. Dubbed openings and endings, certain songs, even sprucing up some lines to be different then the original release. It shows that they love what they do and that they put in effort. I appreciate the effort they put into dubbing the song, but this version aint it. While I'm not on the same train as everyone saying "They should have left it alone!" I think they could have done better. Just look at the reception the fan covers get, you don't see dub haters going on any of those telling them they shouldn't have sung it in English. If they do, those comments are buried under all the positive ones.

This genuinely sounds like it was recorded without any soundproofing walls. Like in one of those studios you can go to just to sing for the fun if it. Other than that, it’s still pretty decent. Is the Japanese Version better? Indeed. Is there room for improvement? Yes. Does it make it bad? Well… that’s up to interpretation.
