1:06 Gives me chills every time. Just seeing Frieza put his selfishness away and giving up on the Shenron wish for once by trying to take himself out with Jiren, was a sight to see. Amazing anime.
Technically he'd get what he wants either way so long as the 7th universe wins in the end. Goku's promise was to bring him back to life if he helped them.
@@aros0018 pretty sure Freiza's wish would have been to surpass Xeno in power and abilities so he can beat Beerus. I think Freiza's sacrificing himself to give up his wish was indeed character development for him. He also called Goku a Siayan and not a monkey, so that alone wad huge growth for him lol
I just want to point out the fact that these two have never fought as a team before yet they are such masters at their craft the know exactly how to compliment each other and work as a unit to give Jiren the business. Its unbelievable.
The allies they have never fought as a team will the fight. I mean 17 had all the data on goku and freiza has fight goku enough to know how he fights naked sense.
I NEED YOU TO THROW ME SAIYAN! Years and years of Dragon Ball Z and even more years of Dragon Ball Super lead to that moment, that line. Freeza throwing himself to oblivion and Goku launching himself after. It was worth it.
It's like calling someone a Chinese person a chink for years, and then saying, "throw me at him, Chinese friend" - a twisted sign of respect, but respect nonetheless.
correct me if im wrong but thats the first time frieza actually calls him by that right? instead of monkey/goku/kakarot? Like him calling him Saiyan is acknowledging him and his race for once.
I love that Jiren smiled before resuming the fight and after the first clash he's drained to the point of exhaustion but at the same time he's completely thrilled that they can keep fighting that he got to give everything he had and more in what was probably the greatest fight of his life.
I imagine if this tournament weren’t life or death, then he, and maybe others like Hit and Top, would be having the time of their lives. Probably even laughing. After Kami-knows-how long of winning every battle they ever fought, they are finally facing actual challenges. Hit was laughing after both of his fights with Goku. Top, Jiren, and a few other serious fighters who are known for their overwhelming power would probably love this experience if their lives and universes didn’t depend on it.
truly for the first time... Jiren is low key having fun (just as Goku and Vegeta do in battle) instead of it just being for "justice" its genuine fun and enjoyment despite him thinkiing his universe could possible be erased
Damn, I didn't know one of Frieza's voice actors had also passed away for some time. May Chris Ayes rest in peace, as well as Akira Toriyama, who was devastingly taken away from us. May their souls be at ease. 😔
You can see, with it slowed down, that Frieza's first attack was to go for the throat, which Jiren had to block. Even now, Frieza fights ruthlessly, and he fights dirty, and all of his attacks thereafter are aimed for soft tissue and vital organs that, were it not for Jiren's own power, would kill someone outright. Let's not forget this is a Frieza who has nothing left to lose. He's lost his life, his empire, and if he fails here, his entire existence. Goku still subconsciously pulls his punches somewhat, that martial arts training limiting the full extent of his power. Frieza isn't a fighter. He's a killer, plain and simple, and the fact that he and Goku fight perfectly in unison shows that, if Frieza turned good, there'd be no problems for the dragon team
The only real powers used was some energy blasts from 17, frieza's attempt to take himself and jiren out and that giant dash which eliminated jiren, frieza and goku
FINALLY! Someone did it! So much better than the dub version we got. The song just feels wrong in English. Edit: Love how everyone is saying 'It doesn't feel wrong, they just dubbed it poorly' yeah, that's what makes it feel wrong lol
I don't know what is cooler here - the fact that Frieza was willing to sacrifice himself to ring out Jiren, or the fact that Goku came charging right the fuck down to join in the final bit. He didn't even hesitate. So damn cool.
As a lifelong DB fan, watching Frieza and goku fight together side by side is one of my all time favorite moments in the whole series, and krillin saying " Frieza and goku are actually fighting side by side!" Makes it awesome. Frieza and goku have fought so many times that when they fight together they were perfectly in sync, so damn cool.
It's amazing and chilling so hype the fact frieza went all in and Vegeta's reaction 100% fire makes super actually so worth watching people quit after dbz they don't know what they are missing can't wait for season 2 of super if it ever comes out RIP toriyama
@@luxraygaming2300 honestly now that I think about it. My headcanon for it would be Goku is trying to remove tension from himself which would make sense and help him focus more 🤔
I don't think enough gets said about the way Frieza hung onto Jiren for dear life, even while been slammed around and getting his tail ripped off. I feel like most other fighters wouldn't be able to handle that
I just now realized that change- Sad we dont get to see it get ripped off as im sure frieza would've gotten the recognition he deserved for it if we could
Absolutely agree. Not only does he exert all his power to throw himself out with Jiren (you can hear Frieza yell when he grabs him and flies downward), but the way Frieza holds on to Jiren at the end makes me strongly believe Frieza was putting all his faith in Goku to show up and help him.
They've fought so many times to the death, that they understand how the other fights and work in sync and compliment each other so well, and all because goku gave frieza his word he would bring him back. Frieza is patient enough and smart enough to know that he can hunt the super dragon balls at his leisure if he wins so he puts his selfishness aside and fights for the team. Such amazing storytelling
He's actually returning the favor, earlier in the fight goku did the same thing, held his arm after getting hit following up with Frieza kicking him the face.
@@A-bit-Shifty definetly agree to this, Arika's last couple works left laying around show black freiza going after piccolo, gohan, defeating blue vegeto, beast gohan isn't a finished work so that's left to the air,.... skips ahead to black frieza vs beerus completely transformed and powered up, i think Arika's idea was Freiza being the OG villian of the DB story he wanted to end things that way too, of course even these items were left unfinished so its hard to tell where he was going
Even after 4 years this fight is still one of the best sequences in all of anime, the desperation of trying to get jiren to fall off the stage while everyone is running off of fumes is unrivaled, also goku flickering in and out of super saiyan was the icing on top.
I'm not gonna lie Jiren was overall boring. He didn't hit like most villain in the arcs. He just seemed to just be their. I felt like they could have emphasized more with hit that had a much more interesting back story compared to jiren
UPDATE: I plan on uploading just the episode 131 version of the song. However it’s gonna take me a bit to do so as the original file for this got corrupted somehow.
What I love is that this whole thing was opened up to this. Goku turning Super Sayian against Freiza and battling him on Namek all those years ago led to this moment. They unlocked new abilities and potentials for each other to use against one single foe in a battle that would save the very universe they lived in. If it weren’t for both Frieza and Goku this never would have happened.
I come back to this every so often just to feel the same rush I did the first time. As a lifelong fan who grew up with DBZ and had a pretty obsessive interest as a child, this just hits home so good.
This is my all time favourite moment in all of DB. I know the Cell saga is goated, but the is just next level for me. To see how far the characters have come and Goku, Frieza and 17 working together to win, its just so awesome
I think the more chilling part was the callback to Z, where the whole group told Goku to “DO IT” to Kid Buu. Now they’re asking Goku and Frieza to “DO IT” to Jiren.
although many don’t agree with this i do. It may not be peak but it is infinitely better than all of the other arcs (except gblack arc, that was pretty good)
if i had to look back at a point in my life where i was at my most happy i’ve ever been, where id never felt more hype or excitement in my existence, it would be this.
This was one of the greatest moments of this whole arc. Goku and Freiza were so much better as a team than Goku and Vegeta...I wish they had shown more of Vegeta realizing how much better Freiza and Goku worked together than him and Goku.
I like to think that Goku and Freiza makes a better team because they have faught extensive battles with each other and are used to each other's state of mind during a fight and the flighting styles and movement patterns. Both of them seems understand each other. Freiza has always been fixated on Goku, even when he was dead, he used to have battles with Goku in his mind to understand his all possible moves. I'd like to think, this probably caused them to max out their team work.
@SamBoy 777 he trains with him begrudgingly, and in battle they've never been as in sync as Friza and Goku. Vegeta needs to be fused with Goku in order to be any use.
@SamBoy 777 No, vegeta doesnt fight serious battles like goku and frieza, frieza had like- 10 or more years to image train about goku and his possible moves y'know? i think it makes since he'd do perfectly with frieza as goku is also shown image training against frieza in the start of super, vegeta just doesnt go too well with goku in general besides fusion due to his stupid ranks mentality. If they would let his character grow more instead of making him stay as a "hubba dubba high rank saiyan good low bad!" type character all of dbz and dbs.. I'm sure one day they'll overcome that but vegeta has had years to fix that mentality and doesnt, it makes no sense when he has definite proof that ranks mean nothing in the long run
@@carlosocatavious3363 yeah, its such a stupid way to use a character as well thought out as vegeta, im sure the anime will change that once its continued but as far as i know the manga hasnt really let vegeta develop and has made him jealous until he got ultra ego, and even then it made him fall into a toxic trance of power that he thinks he needs
As Jiren cheesily said, it was trust that helped them. Frieza trusted Goku because he knew his naivety was unbending, and Goku trusted Frieza because he had his existence at stake and Frieza cared about himself above all else. To the *exclusion* of all else. Edit: Forgot to add-- Goku and Vegeta are rivals. Whenever they work together there is still an element of competition involved. Not here.
From all the fighters in not only Universe 7, but all the Universes.... it turned out to be Frieza! Perhaps thé greatest Nemesis of Goku, and the entire DBZ-saga to fight alongside Goku, give his very all, even willing to throw himself off, taking Jiren with him, and teaming up with Goku to the very brink of exhaustion and eliminating thé most powerful fighter in all the Universes... Its hard for Toriyama to top such a story and climax. From all the unexpected plot-twists, this was one, nobody expected.
I almost hope Frieza becomes almost an ally of sorts, maybe not like vegeta did but maybe be an anti hero archetype, he's gotta understand at this point that having Goku and Vegeta around is what makes him push himself to get stronger, you'd think he would want that rivalry just to keep becoming stronger. Watching goku and frieza fight side by side is truly one of the most EPIC moments in dragon ball history.
This final sequence is one of the best sequences and super. We see character development from freezer. I can’t help but be astonished when he said “throw me, Saiyan“ as it is the first time they have ever fought side-by-side. The desperation to knock out Jiren is felt throughout the whole thing
The song was so important for this battle, music and anime go hand in hand, the emotions enhance and you feel the battle and the epicness of Dragon Ball
Its such a badass thought to think that frieza was going to sacrifice himself for the win. I understand hes a selfish monster, but in that moment he held nothing but his urge to defend the universe (literally his only noble moment ever lmao)
Right On!!! I literally cried from so much happiness watching this watching Goku and Frieza kicking butt together. Man what a fight scene for the record books.
This is what I was hoping to see when they established Jiren to be leagues above Goku and the others. With their universe on the line and such a powerful, albeit very bland, fighter standing in their way it made far more sense to gang up on him. An all out brawl. It was just for the last few minutes but they did a great job here
This is one of the best anime moments ever in my opinion seeing goku and frieza fight side by side shows how much they're willing to go to win the tournament of power. Also thanks for the music change
I cannot listen or watch this without being ripped back to childhood and screaming for Goku to beat everyone be it Vegeta Frieza Cell or Buu and tear up a bit
Same here. When Freezia is hanging on, Goku rushes in, barely able to keep going as SS, and the music spike, I tear up and get goosebumps. Same feeling when Goku is screaming going into ss3
Honestly, this fight helps prove my grievance with fights only being one on one, especially in dragon ball, just look at how sick this fight is. (I know there are other occasions of teaming up, but its so rare and it rarely goes anywhere)
This arc while not the best DB arc, definitely is the one that means the most to me as I grew up watching it, but I found it to be the most relatable arc. But it also is a reminder that in the middle of all the awesome fights in DB, in the end, it’s about growing and becoming a better, stronger person.
