I started reading The Final Empire and I must say that Sanderson knows how to keep the readers hooked. Fascinating world building, amazing characters. I bought it a couple of days ago & am already halfway through. Totally recommended💥

Great recommendations! I agree with Brandon Sanderson being very accessible and a good choice to start. As I started reading fantasy at a very young age I have a lot of recommendations of my own. Beginner: - The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, honestly you can not go wrong with them. It's 7 stories, but very easy and fast to read. - Eragon by Christopher Paolini, it has dragons! Enough said.. - Magician by Raymond E. Feist, this was my first real fantasy novel and I loved it. It's not too complex at the start, but it turns it up at a good pace. For intermediate I find it difficult to think of any, since most books could just be beginner books as well: - Temeraire by Naomi Novik, it's a very underrated book and also has dragons! But it's set on earth during the Napoleonic War. It follows a British navy captain who discovers a dragon egg and becomes a dragon rider. It's very militaristic and political at times, but also very mellow and love the relationship with the dragon. - The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski, if you played the games or watched the show it's an easy transition. It's a classical medieval fantasy, with some mature themes. -The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne, I have not read Malice but I have read this one and I think if you love Vikings this is up your alley. Also dragons. (I'm sensing a theme here) For advanced you basically suggested all the ones I read, but there's a couple that might still be interesting. - A Game of Thrones by George R.R Martin, everyone knows these already and if he ever finishes the series they're gonna be instant classics, so you better read them! - The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie, I have not read it but it's grimdark and a lot of people say it's good...

Ohhh! I’m sensing this a comment worth a medal 🎖️, thank you so much for the effort! I absolutely agree with what you shared! The only exception being Magician which is the only one I haven’t read! I adored Temerarie! How great that you mentioned it as well!! (Also, if you are into the dragons theme.. have you tried The Aurelian Cycle? 👀)

One series that I haven't seen anyone recommend or really say anything about is The Obsidian Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory. By no means the best series, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and its a big part of why I have started reading again.

I'm currently reading Assassin's Apprentice at the moment and I gotta be honest I'm pretty 'meh' on it so far. I always had a feeling I was gonna love the Liveship Trader Trilogy but not be that into the rest of the realm of the elderlings so I didn't really plan on reading them for awhile but I managed to happen across a brand new copy of Assassin's Apprentice for $1 and I couldn't pass it up, I'll keep going at least to the end of this book and hopefully by the end it will change my mind and I'll want to continue the series.
@FunFantasyBooks
@FunFantasyBooks Год назад
1$ is definitely a great deal!! I am personally not a huge fan of Assassin’s Apprentice, so I kind of get what you mean! Let me know how you end up feeling about it once you finish it! (Also, I will start Ship of Magic in June! Hopefully I like it more!)
@redgiant970
@redgiant970 Год назад
@@FunFantasyBooks I have finally finished it and I gotta say I'm still pretty much right there at 'meh' honestly. I can feel the overarching story developing in the background of the world and it seems very promising so far, but Fitz as a narrator felt like he had almost no personality of his own to me. Everything was what this person said or how he thinks that person felt but very few times do we really get to see his own feelings on matter. Overall it was good enough that I'm at least willing to try the next book in the trilogy eventually.

I’m not sure about six of crows… it is just Y/A with wish fulfilment which doesn’t set you up for fantasy. Mistborn is a much better option. Plus in my opinion, it’s just a much better book written by a better fantasy author (*Not y/a author*) I also think that the way of kings is a great option for beginners for audiobooks. Because the biggest thing that stops one of the greatest fantasy books ever written from being recommended for beginners is the page count. The audiobook has incredible narration and it flies by. It was the first fantasy book I ever read and boy am I glad I read it. If I could read it at 12 years old, so can you.
@FunFantasyBooks
@FunFantasyBooks Год назад
Ahhh I definitely agree with Stormlight have a great narration!! In my opinion is more advanced not only because of the page count, but also because the level of detail that Sanderson created with the world and the magic (which in my opinion are harder to grasp than Mistborn), plus the complexity of those characters! But I am so happy you got to enjoy it! Definitely a wise pick for everyone that wants to give it a try! It’s my favorite!

@@FunFantasyBooks I would put this in at least your intermediate category, Dark Fantasy, not a classical setting at all and it has Barkers swirl of profound, surreal and horrific. If you are in the mood for it give it a try and let me know.
