I'm back from a trip where I used this backpack as my day bag, and it was glorious. I have the copper color, and it hides stains and scraps better than my Chalk Lite Sling. Point for the Copper. I packed it flat in the bottom of my main suitcase and used it as my day bag to explore the city. I could fit a ton of things in it: a light rain jacket, my mother's poncho, a water bottle, a soda bottle, an apple, documents, my camera! So spacious. Yes, most things fall to the bottom, but the internal pockets seemed to work for me quite well to keep my smaller items organized. I was undecided between this and a sling for this particular trip, and I'm glad I opted for the backpack because the extra room was so handy. Still, the bag remained light and comfy while carrying along all day long

Great review. This is exactly the kinda review I am looking when checking out a bag 👍🏻 Frankly. I never found external water bottle holder work well. I have had a handful of backpacks with external pouches, and those pouches just wear out pretty quickly. I am not even a hiker. Just a regular Joe uses bags for work and weekend

I love Bellroy and have a couple of their slings, and have been tempted to get this pack. While I wouldn’t use this as a hiking daypack, it would be a great option for a packable travel daypack to use when exploring cities. For me a hiking daypack needs an easily-accessible external water bottle pocket or a true hydration sleeve with port.

Nice review. No external water bottle holder is a dealbreaker - c'mon Bellroy! Cold water bottles are often sweating and I don't want that humidity inside. Or I use it for a semi-damp or not completely fresh umbrella, which I also don't want stinking up the bag. An external bottle holder lets things get bone dry, like a balcony for your bag. The bulky rounded shape of a bottle is also usually better not pressing into my back or fighting for internal room.

I have the Lite Sling in this same chalk color way and I really love it, it's become my most used sling and that's a lot to say for someone who has ___(guess number)___ slings. I might get this because I'm a geek and my OCD takes over and when I use my DSPTCH bag I bring a DSPTCH sling, when it's a Trakke bag, it's a Trakke sling and so on, lmao, I know someone might relate so yeah... I don't have a Bellroy backpack so this might be the one. I always like the option of the sternum strap so that's a great bonus and I'm getting used to inside water bottle pockets since I'm not always stopping and reaching for my water unless I'm sitting and not moving that much. I don't like swinging backpacks that much, if I need that mobility i just bring a bigger sling. Anyway, always loving your reviews and even if this is the only Bellroy Lite Daypack review I'll ever need to watch, I'll probably watch a ton more because you know... Bag geek haha, but yours are my favorites, gotta stay loyal to the gang lmao. Peace, man.

Just looking at this, is sorta reminds me of the Away F.A.R. 26L backpack. I picked one up on sale to give to my dad, and when I got it I was surprised at the low weight, it felt almost too light. That one seems to have more structure and padding though (its not as floppy) and turned out pretty tough and water resistant. The zippers are really big and zip lightly, almost too light lol. Its more travel than outdoors oriented though.

I have this bag. I personally don’t really like it. It’s really lightweight and easily packable as stated. But its really floppy unless it’s about 50% filled out. The biggest issue I have are the straps. I took it hiking in Japan and the straps would not keep sliding past my shoulders and eventually off to my arms. The sternum strap does help a bit but only to keep them falling off to my arms.
@Nomads.Nation
@Nomads.Nation Год назад
striding backpack straps are an interesting problem bc they affect certain body types. Agreed on the floppiness, but then again, that's the point of the bag

I have the lite sling in chalk and while it’s great and I have not found anything I like more, people should know it is not machine washable and i have tried hand washing it but after a year of use it is pretty dingy, so as sleek as that color looks if I had to do it over I probably would have picked one of the darker colors. I’ve had my eye on this backpack for awhile so glad to see your review, I’ve held off because it was hard to see how nice the straps are from their photos.

I also have the Lite Sling in the Chalk colorway and it’s GORGEOUS. I’ve had that thing for a week and as lovely as it looks, I’ve already has to wash it acouple of times 😂 I can’t imagine how it will look in a year if a keep doing so. Maybe someday I’ll come to terms with it eventually looking a little dingy.

You asked, so: I think I would prefer an external water bottle pouch but it's not a deal-breaker. I'm travelling to a hot climate, so the light colour is appealing. Also, being an Australia based company I like that's it's a western-world headquartered company. I would MUCH prefer that it be made in a western or western friendly country (i.e. G7, Mexico, Poland, etc.). You did not state where it is made though, so maybe it is? Regarding place of manufacture, I am not interested, and always try to avoid, any item manufactured in a totalitarian dictatorship or authoritarian state. I am not interested in supporting or encouraging repressive and anti-western countries / governments. I would have preferred vented/mesh shoulder straps but I do like the large opening. You don't like that it doesn't (easily) carry a small laptop, but you showed that it in fact does, so that is good enough for me (I only carry a laptop occasionally). Overall I like it, but it is very expensive for something that I suspect is made in a low-development Asian country (please tell me if I'm wrong). Very good review.
