Thanks to so many of you who requested this roll...we decided to do it but take it to another level, and add bacon on top of bacon.
The outer layer of bacon reached the proper temperature even though it looks undercooked; it was basically steamed under the layer of tempura mix.

About Master Sushi Chef Hiroyuki Terada:
Master Sushi Chef Hiroyuki Terada is one of the top Japanese Chefs in the entire world and the most popular Japanese chef on RU-vid.
At age 10, Terada learned the basics of sushi from his father and then went on to attend RKC Chef's School in Kochi, Japan from 1987-1989. He soon earned a nickname for his fast knife, attention to detail, divine presentation and ability to create new dishes and accents based on traditional Japanese cuisine. After graduating RKC Chef School, he was called to serve under Master Chef Kondo at Yuzuan restaurant in Kochi, Japan from 1989-1992. Mr. Kondo is the master of Kansai style cooking, considered to be the high-end of Japanese cuisine. Terada earned the title Master Sushi Chef by becoming the standing head sushi chef & can serve Fugu (Japan Licensed) to the public.

Chef Hiroyuki Terada is using the Minonokuni Matsu-1573 210mm Yanagi. Super Blue Steel. Can also be used for breaking down whole fish and chickens. But normally for slicing, sashimi, vegetables, meat etc.. This is Chef Hiro's custom specked knife.

I almost drewled on my keyboard watching you make that roll. I've made BLT rolls but never thought to wrap it in bacon and batter and fry it. You never fail to make me hungry. When I saw Hiro lay out that first strip of raw bacon I thought to myself "No, he's not." But he did! Ultimate BLT indeed. Great roll! You could put salmon eggs for eyes and some sort of vegetable slivers for antenna and it would be a caterpillar roll. ;-) Can't wait to see what you come up with next. Thanks!

Looks awesome, even though the outer bacon is cooked from a temperature standpoint, actually deep frying the roll without the tempura batter first for a few mins then letting cool and dry, THEN tempura it. The outer bacon would have a more crisp texture making the tempura batter even more crunchy. Keep up the good work, I love seeing these food fusion videos.

yet another roll I'll have to try making. minus the tempura bacon wrap. I don't have a big enough deep fryer. This looks like something straight out of epic meal time, and I love it.

Let's try a Pizza Roll! I'm sure all the fans would agree to that creation for next week. Name it the GEO "my initials" pizza Roll. Inside pep, ham, sausage, or Veggie. Outside mozzarella, more colorful veggies. Great job Hiro.

Chef Terada, it is amazing to watch you work. I didn't think a BLT was possible in a sushi roll, my fault for thinking differently. I was concerned about the bacon wrapped around the roll cooking properly, but then I read the explanation. Truly amazing, thank you for sharing this. What would be the recommended temperature of the oil? I know it's much hotter in an industrial deep fryer, but I would like to know so I can try to simulate this. Thank you so much Chef!

10:35 This plate is masterful. Bacon has a very high calorie/energy content yet the appetite for it far surpasses the calorie intake. The key here is to match the bacon's calorie intake to the appetite. Here the Master Sushi Chef is showing the appetite a BLT Sushi Roll covering the plate and two interesting pieces of food on the end with height which contrast to the rest of the dish. The level of batter on the end doesn't match the rest of the roll yet the whole roll is battered. Both look so different hence the appetite picks up two dishes not just one.

Awesome as always! One question though. Are you worried that the sushi may be a little chewy since the outer bacon isn't completely crispy? See you on the next one!

Great looking roll. IMO the best BLTs have a healthy spreading of mayonnaise on the bread that really takes the sandwich to the next level. You should consider topping this roll with a mayonnaise based sauce, maybe a mayonnaise wasabi cream sauce, to kick this up to legendary status.

To all the people keep saying bacon looks "raw", no it's not raw. It looks raw to most people because people usually eat it fried/baked, etc. So your eyes are used to seeing bacon as something crispy and brown. But I eat bacon steamed/boiled now and then and this is what the color looks like. It's not crispy or brown but it is cooked!
