Please don’t judge me (you don’t seem to be the type that would 😊), I am a former Christian who watches you quite often. I find your personality soothing and inspirational and I love how honest you are about your life struggles. I also don’t find you “preachy”- just a lovely person sharing your day to day with us. Also your home is goals, as is your boho style. Thank you ❤

The island is so beautiful. It turned out so great! Our kitchen is so small, it's getting harder and harder for me to prepare meals and freezer meals. I often find myself moving things to the dining room table so I can have space to roll out dough and canning projects, etc. My husband built a small island on wheels that has wings that can be raised or lowered to accommodate for more space. I love it and don't know what I'd do without it.

Love your kitchen! I also have made a baking corner and I have the same grain mill! 😁 I’m also a rock collector 😉😂 Those wood floors before and after refinishing are gorgeous! As a homesteading mama of 6 kids I am in aww of how you got your kitchen that clean ❤ once I get our kitchen clean I blink and it’s a mess😂 but also my oldest is 8 so not a ton of help in cleaning. We are slowly working on our home as well and everywhere is only partially finished as well. We just hit 1 year in our fixer upper home ❤️ Your videos are always such a light in my day! Your family are in our prayers 😊

Loved this video. The floors and the wooden countertops are so beautiful! The pizza looked so delicious. And I think you are right, the world has become more angry. Probably the constant flood of negativity through screens and a lack of real positive human connection (not through smart phones but in the real world) make is angry. I know that when I am too much on my phone I get angry quicker and snappy… so trying to reduce as much as possible

Thank you for your little life lesson. It was helpful. I've had PTSD from past life trauma as well. I've also had trained, Christian help. It was so helpful. God is still healing me. I'm so glad He doesn't do it all at once. I think it would kill me if He did and He knows that. So gentle is our God. I'm praying for you as you go through your healing journey as well. Thank you for sharing that part about what the counselor said about anger, too. Good bless! I like your new butcher block. ❤

so glad for your with the butcher block counterspace! what a game changer. you're so right about the triggers for feeling badly- they're such basic things like food, sleep, space, but can be hard to come by for moms of many. good thing to pay attention about

I did the Power to Forgive study a few weeks ago and it helped so much! It's completely changed my view of forgiveness and it seems so much more achievable. I'm also reflecting frequently on the following verses since the PTSD I experienced is so focused on fear; ‭1 John 4:18-19 ESV‬ [18] There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. [19] We love because he first loved us. The power of Christ's love is so incredible! And whenever I find myself overwhelmed, I just remind myself that the answer is always love 🙏🏽🧡

This is all so beautiful, Rachel, and true! I know it has been hard for you, but I can see the Lord is helping you and given you a revelation. We love because He first loved us, and you allowing His love to flow through you is a sign of so much strength. You have blessed me by sharing this. Thank you, Friend!

I have a dining table in the middle of my kitchen & due to your past inspiration of using carts/shelves etc...underneath, I attempted the same. Because, like you, I have not spent much time in a 'finished' home, more like 'well loved' homes storage is always an issue. lol. I live in my 1700s farmhouse (in my family since 1851) and they did NOT have counters/cabinets/islands like we do now. they had pantries, pie safes, & hoosiers...I do have a hoosier cabinet that hides much of my stuff (like soap making & sewing supplies) but I have hardly any counter space, very few cabinets, very small pantry under a staircase, & not the floor footage for an all out island. My hubby raised the table & we put book shelving under on 2 sides & now I can slide my grain mill & buckets of floor/sugar behind them - out of sight. Everyone has commented on how cute it is & it freed up tons of cabinet space by moving things into these shelves. It looks very similar to your new island set up just not a 'free floating' topper. Thanks for helping me think creatively & just using what I already have. Its why I like your ideas - you know how to make do & even be excited about it!

P.s. the renovations were so cool! The floor looks incredible. My husband and I did the wood floors in our first house and absolutely did a worse job 😂 but it worked! The new island is fantastic and I feel like I learnt so much more about wood finishing. Hubby is also a woodworker! I always feel so inspired and encouraged by your content. I get to the end feeling ready to bounce away and conquer the kitchen!

I was just going to mention neurodivergence, and then you started talking about it...😊 Loved your reflections. As a family, we are reflecting and trying to heal from personal traumas and my daughter has ASD, PTSD, GAD, PD. And now PNES. Her medical (mental, physical, and emotional) health has opened the door for all of us to express emotions including anger/frustration in a healthy way. We lived in a rigid value system that depended on suppressing emotions and are learning to break learned habits of supressing emotions and the exploding in an unhealthy and unvirtuous manner. On another note, everything looks lovely! What is the low VOC finish? Please share. Loved this one! Wish I could visit with you in person. 😊

I love the facial expressions you use such as when talking about not having gunky things in your sink hehe. I love that you made a menu for when you hostess people coming over. That's pretty and cool. While I used to constantly burn incense since I was a child, turns out there are toxins in it that made me stop doing so for the past year. I just do oils and soy candles now. I love seeing people working on sanding (and your helping sanding makes me wonder what your husband's thoughts were when you did what you did. . .because I think it is hilarious and cute). Oh man I have totally cooked big meals where something went wrong and I have made another meal or said, "Nope. We're not going to have this..." :: sigh :: Thankfully it has only happened a couple of times ever in my twenty years of marriage. I agree that the world is getting angrier. I was talking about this with my husband and how people on the internet are just so mean.

My best friend and I were just talking about collecting rocks and where they end up...purses, pockets, anywhere in the car, junk drawers, tins, flower pots, flower beds, window sill, camping totes, etc...they are so special and are little memories/moments that we can physically hold. We might not remember where we acquired them, but we know that it was a good time! I also collect wood bowls and baskets. In fact, it's a running joke with friends and family..."Where did she go?... Probably in the basket section." Incense can be a little rough for some. I love burning incense, but it bothers my daughter and makes her sneeze like crazy. I started burning Japanese incense, when she is at school, and it is wonderful! Less smoke with a lovely light scent. Green tea & Matcha and Mikan Orange are both heavenly! If you like a stronger wood scent, the Incense of the West "Pinon" is incredible!!! It's made in New Mexico, I believe. Love your kitchen!!! Your home is just lovely and super cozy!!

Oh no, I should have known people would want to know, lol! I wish I knew what my favorite was, but every time I go get some I forget to label the bags, lol! I do like sandalwood and nag champa. Patchouli is another favorite. Those are all pretty earthy though and a lot of people would find them too strong! I'll try to find a favorite online that I can link to, it will take me a few weeks though. Stay tuned, Katelyn!

Being hungry is MY big one. When I am tired I physically can not function: I don't become mad, I become USELESS.... I literally trip, stumble, drop things, I actually become very dangerous like in a kitchen. I have learned to just give up on whatever I am doing at that moment & go to bed....no matter the mess I leave behind, because in all honesty, I end up making more of mess with dropped glass, or cut hands, crashing hot pots & pans......My young adult daughters work at a little local hardware store. You would not BELIEVE the anger that is often directed at them. The younger one came home the other night talking about how an angry customer called on the phone for parts that the store doesn't stock. They informed him it wasn't available & he said he was on his way from an hour away already & he was coming to see if a substitute would work. He didn't arrive until WELL after the store had closed (like 15-20 minutes & they had warned him they were closing). He stood outside screaming & pounding & yanking on the locked glass doors. Meanwhile they had already shut down the registers. They ended up calling their boss to come back to the store because the man would not leave & they were afraid to exit to get in their cars (these are TEENS!!!!) My husband told her that the next time it happens to call HIM, because the bosses reaction was to usher the man into the store & settle up with the $ himself. Really the cops should have been called. My daughters deal with being cussed at, hung up on, yelled at, told they don't know what they are talking about because they are girls, hit on...its an ugly world out there. Men are not trained to treat young ladies with respect anymore & it seems like they are all angry as soon as they can't get what they want, when they want.....It has made me more aware of my OWN actions when angry (especially in a store). I have started a new habit of just smiling at the cashier & making small talk with elderly shoppers/cashiers/receptionists. People seem shocked when you do this, but the smiles it produces make my day!
