He's not a bust, when the whole team of Oakland is a bust. Every running back Oakland has had is a bust because they can't block for the guys they have.
He was SO good. It was a thing of beauty to watch him run; he hit the gaps so fast, could change direction without losing much acceleration, great footwork and vision, and would straight up smash LB's and secondary when needed. Some folks like to complain and knock him for injuries, those aren't his fault; it just happens that way sometimes. Regardless of his career stats he was one of the sweetest RB's the game has ever seen.
is anyone watching in 2020?? he's the reason i loved football. the reason i wore #20. my dad was a die hard raider fan and made me watch arkansas football when i was little. so when dmac got drafted he became my favorite player of all time #dmac
Biggest what-if of the 2003-2015 Raiders dark ages, in my opinion, is a healthy Darren McFadden. Before the lisfranc injuries he was on the way to becoming the best RB in football. Go watch the tape of the 59-14 Broncos drubbing, or the 3 TD game against Jacksonville. He was special. Injuries ruined everything.
For Raiders fans he was the highlight of the decade. Made watching the games so much more exciting, pity he had the injury issues would have been a beast for longer.
Like many people, the Raiders taught me young that life is cruel and unfair. I'm not even a Raiders fan but a Razorback fan from a crazy Razorback family who started watching football the year Darren finished behind Troy Smith in Heisman voting. We knew what he was capable of in the pros but during his time with the Raiders the o-line was never able to help him stay healthy or play up to his potential.
He definitely had an unorthodox run style. Mostly bc of his body type. He had such broad shoulders, but also had em longer legs that made him difficult to catch once he got to striding. Also prob why he was often injured too tho. Running straight up and down like he did leaves ya open to all kinds of punishment when breaking through gaps. He was a beast tho and actually had a long successful career. Top 5 tho? Meh idk about that. I’d say there’s 5 better RBs currently in the league now. Cook, Taylor, Mccaffrey, Henry, Kamara, to name just a few
@@tjanderson5892 this comment was 7 years ago. When he said top 5, I believe he was referring to the then current time in the league. With that said, none of those guy you named are ahead of McFadden in my opinion. Only Henry.
my FAVORITE player in the decade plus of raider futility. i know people see him as a dissapointment due to his injuries but he has such a gpod heart and is a great person and gave his all on every play. For a couple years he WAS the raider offense. And i must say i hate the cowboys but im rooting for this man and hes bpund for sone gpod luck and hes still young. Hes gonna kill it this year i can tell already. When hes healthy he is such a beast. Big, fast, strong legs, good hands, explosive instincts and hes SMART he always find the opening and he's so much fun to watch.
Man i still remember when i was 10 an went to the 50 year anniversary of the raiders and he signed my raiders cup. Will never forever that. will be one of my top favorite players to me.
AJ Stanton I don't know, that line seems like the best in the league in my opinion. Take it from me, as a DE, Dallas' O-Line can make anyone good, even a slow back, or hell, even a fullback. They play with some swagger man.
bruh i remember that play at 6:44 that run was amazing. spin move coming out of the hole, side steps the corner, and gives a savage stickarm to the face of the safety on his way to a touchdown. that's some real life madden gameplay ish.
Just HOLD THE BALL! The line outta help gain yards but please just hold that ball. Murray had me on edge every time he touched the pig. What good is thousands of yards if you're only gonna give it up at crucial points of a game. I like how this guy holds on to the rock while running. Let's hope for a good season #DC4L
I'm a raiders fan but we ruined him but he made us look good without a line the crazy thing is he's only 27 and is 6'2 220 and runs a 4.3 we really had no line last year every running back we had couldn't go through our sorry line
It just damned on me, Raiders have a long history of picking great running backs. Bo Jackson, Marcus Allen, Charlie Gardner, Napolean Kaufman, Tyrone Wheatley, Darren McFadden.
Its just too bad he couldn't stay healthy. If the Raiders would've got five seasons like his 2010 season he would've lived up his draft status. That 2010 season he balled out, but some just aren't lucky to stay injury free, especially when you run hard like DMC. I think that was the problem....he ran harder than his body could take. Needed to be more like Marcus Allen....slithery.....don't take as big a hits. But he went head up with everyone. thats why DMC always have Raider love.
He didnt stay healthy, because the raiders , is where careers go to die. As far as being more elusive, that wasnt his game. He wouldnt have been the same back. 6'2 225, 4.32 40. If he couldnt outrun you, he ran you over. I had tge pleasure of watching him, Peyton Hillis, and Felix Jones for 3 seasons at Arkansas, and I would say, you could put them in the top 5 backfields in NCAA history. Unfortunately, they didnt win as much as thier talent shouldve gotten, because we had a coach didnt really know what a vertical passing hame was.
Good luck DMAC. It'l feel weird in Oakland without you. His first 4 years he was probably only 2nd to Adrian Peterson as far as the most physically gifted back in the league. After so many injuries, he's not the same athlete he used to be, but behind Dallas he should be pretty damn good.
Amazing runner to watch, long strides, fast, elusive. This man is one of the reasons the raiders weren't "the browns" of the NFL for a long time. However, if you notice every play in his highlights he has a wide open hole or no contact at line of scrimmage. He had great speed and elusiveness in the open field but if someone got a hand on him behind the LOS then he wasn't very good.
Not a Dallas fan at all, but this guy will produce numbers. Of course he didn't get to play to his full potential because he's been on a rebuilding team for his whole career so far
@@jackiechan6460 yea those chicken legs just couldn’t hold up his giant frame with the way he runs plus getting tackled by 300lb professional athletes. It’s amazing those toothpicks didn’t snap in half just from him running 100mph like a beastly freak of nature that he was,, even without any contact
What Cowboys fan can't be excited to see what this man can do this year. Always been a fan of McFadden a bit injury prone unfortunately but he is fun to watch #WeDemBoyz
As much as I love McFadden and will never forget him as a Raider, lately he's left a lot to be desired. I watched every Raiders game last year and realized that most of his explosiveness is gone. He's 27 (which is usually the year RBs start to decline) and he's been made of glass his whole career. Also his vision is not what it used to be. A lot of people who don't watch Raider's games will say "well his O-line with the Raiders sucked," but when u watched Rashad Jennings in 2013 and Latavius Murray in 2014 produce with the same line then you start to realize that a lot of the problem was McFadden not being effective RB. That being said he is very capable as a change of pace/ committee back as evidenced in games where he was effective when he split the carries. There's also no question regarding toughness, fearlessness, and attitude, but if the Dallas Cowboys want McFadden to produce then they should consider not trying to have him as Bellcow. As a RB2 he will always have the potential to take over a game if he's feeling it every now and then considering the dominant O-line that Dallas has, but don't always expect that. I think next season McFadden gets 650-800 yards rushing, but never threatens the 1000 yard mark. Good luck Run DMC! #RN4L
I love the way he runs. One of the most underrated backs in the league. I hope he stays healthy and I can't wait to see what he does for Dallas this year.
Ok watching these games, I just imagine him behind our o line here in Dallas. You just see the play break down real quick, and he gets through now imaginable the Dallas wall, home run baby ! DMC 2015!
If he remains healthy this year, I say he will eclipse the 1,000 yard behind Dallas' offensive line. For the ones that complaining about the music...mute it and play YOUR fav new "rap/hip-hop" jam...like Drake lol
I think McFadden is a better fit for Dallas than demarco. Granted I think 1800 yds is out of question. But I think Darren has more speed and is a more natural cutback runner. And has more vision. If u look a demarco in college and his rookie yr he was more shifty and not a cutback guy. Over the yrs he learned how to plant that foot and go. Also Darren is a more explosive RB out of the backfield.
datone9 It's one thing to say you think McFadden can do a good job behind the o-line, but it's kind of ridiculous to say someone is a "better fit" then the NFL's leading rusher. There is only 2-3 RB's you can say are a "better fit."
ThePhillysports4ever demarco was the leading rusher BECAUSE of the line. Exactly what did he do before Frederick and Martin got there? Not Leading rusher. Not even close. Darren May not lead the league, but could be a top 5-7 guy. So by ur logic, demarco will lead the leauge again this yr. Lol ill be surprised if he sniffs 1,000 yds & Keep in Mind McFadden is More Talented than Murray. This Idea that McFadden sucks or isn't a good player or sometype of downgrade is foolish. Other than McFadden name 2 more players who were good on the Raiders......exactly. If Justin Forsett can rejuvenate his career in Baltimore, I think McFadden will Scare ppl in Dallas. Romo, Dez, the line. He's playing with more talent in 1 yr than he did his whole career in Oak.
ThePhillysports4ever when I say better fit here's what I mean. 1. McFadden is A better WR out the the backfield 2. McFadden is a Natural Cutback runner for the zone read scheme 3.McFadden has the ability to utilize great blocks and actually take a run the (long) distance. 4. McFadden Is more Lethal in the open field 5. McFadden won't get tackled or tripped up by the turf monster (nobody) like a certain eagles running back always used to.
His cuts look like I'm playing madden lol He knows how to get on the outside and has explosiveness.. 2 things Murray lacked. Murray a great RB in his own way though.
One thing that will really help DMC in Dallas is the fact that the corners and safeties will not be able to get off of the receivers so quick to come back and make the tackle because of the passing threat of the Cowboys. Seems like he can get to the second level pretty well and is good at punching it in at the goal line. He has never been a part of a team with a good QB and passing game, so if he stays healthy he will contribute. We used to say the exact same thing about Murray's health every year until 2014.
Welcome to Dallas Darren. As a Dallas fan I just need you to do you and ignore all these haters. I don't care about your past, and your injury history. Right now, lets focus on the present, and try to go out there and produce numbers. You don't need to get 1,800 yards like Demarco, all you gotta do is go out there and try your best and do what you can to help your new team. Us Cowboys fan have fate in you. #WeDemBoyz
Everyone keeps dogging in this dude for being old and maybe there's some merrit to it but he was producing runs in Oakland. Imagine what he does behind dallas' o-line. We didn't draft a rb, which means or FO has faith in our guys we have now. Between DMC, randle, Dunbar and even Ryan Williams, I bet we do just fine. Here's to a break out season by McFadden in 2015!
Mcfadden is on my top 10 best running backs of all time. Like a cross between Bo Jackson and Jim Brown with the ability to pass or score every time he touched the ball!
Always been a big McFadden fan. Whenever I watch him he hits the holes well, doesn't shy from contact, and runs hard. His pass catching ability is severely underrated I think as well. A lot of people are overlooking him and writing him off, but I think he is going to shock some people. Dallas shouldn't use their first rounder on an RB even though it is Gurley or Gordon. They need inside help bad. This RB class is so deep anyway they can grab a guy in the 3-4 round range if they need. I predict McFadden with a 1000+ yard season and 400+ receiving. This is, of course, if the Cowboys can keep him healthy. I don't like the Cowboys but I'll be rooting for him. Go Pats.
Makes you wonder how many great running backs that never was because of poor offensive lines and how many running backs that weren't supposed to be because of great ones.
The funny thing is every thing people are saying about him and injuries, we were saying the same thing about Demarco Murray. Upright running style shiftiness. No wonder the Cowboys picked him up. He runs just like Demarco, but much faster and cheaper. Again, both backs have the same injury history.
buster60341 Everybody's talking about the Cowboys' OLine, which they should. But don't forget, DMC never had the benefit of a good passing attack either. he won't be facing 8-9 man fronts as often as he did in Oakland.
talented runner, just got stuck in oakland his whole career. He's too beat up and worn down to run like he does in these highlights but he probably has a little juice left
Demarco Murray had one good year if it wasnt for last season Demarco and Darren are legit the same in terms of being solid backs with chronic injury problems.. give this guy a healthy season with that Cowboys OL he's rushing for 1000 yards easily
Always wished the best for DMC, unfortunately he's with the Cowboys but even that I still wish him well. As an Eagles fan I look extremely forward to playing the Cowboys this season. GO Eagles!
Why are people sleeping on Dmc. I mean i know he has injury problems, but if he can stay healthy from what i seen in this video this guy can be beast with that Dallas o line.
I like what I see from McFadden. Physically, he's the same specimen as DeMarco and looks a tad more athletic......oh and he doesn't fumble. I really believe behind that O-line in Dallas he will have a stand out season...you can take that to the bank
The thing I like about DMC is as soon as he sees an opening he bursts into 5th gear and just run forward. As good as Demarco was last year, he's more of a shifty RB who spends too much time behind the line looking for the homerun. He gets this 2-3 yards and then go for 20+ on some downs which is in no way a bad thing. But DMC just runs and is pretty elusive which could be a perfect fit for the team. I'm not expecting a leading rusher again, because I think they're gonna spread the touches between him, Randle and Dunbar, but I ain't missing Demarco either.
Let's use him on 3rd down. He can be effective if he doesn't have to carry the load in Dallas. Let the younger backs carry the weight. Randle, Johnson, and Seastrunk are young studs.
I think ppl are hating on McFadden saying he'll be the same in Dallas as in all his other years. watching this videos I see that on a lot of the plays he having to break tackles or bounce it out before he's even back to the line. In Dallas he's not gonna be touched until at least 5yrds past on many plays. I think he will be a lot better in Dallas
