when I was a kid about 10 or so, me, my little brother, and my cousin had a sleepover at my house. We wanted to stay up all night but never could, however on this sleepover we got FFIX. So we snuck a tv outside and played in the backyard under the stars until the early morning, all while listening to this music and narrating the story to each other. :') I still remember the misty air, the dewy morning grass when we moved the TV back inside and actually fell asleep. What I wouldn't give to relive those days :')))
I was level 10 years old when I first experienced this in 2000 and I do miss those innocent, calm and windows open on a sunny day in Your room playing Your self and dreams moments ❤
I hear ya. Perfectly articulated memory, that, thanks. We can make new ones that we'll look back at later and say the same thing over them lol. Good times!
I used to watch my brother play this when we were kids and I never got into it. I recently picked it up on steam and it's genuinely incredible. The music, the story, the cities. Absolutely breathtaking. I've just gotten to the lifa tree and I'm loving every moment.
Nobuo Uematsu was, is, and always will be the greatest soundtrack composer of all time. It's hard to imagine it, but he wrote and recorded this perfect 10/10 soundtrack in just one year after having written the perfect FF 8 soundtrack in about a year and a half.
Absolutely beautiful. FFIX had such a beautiful story, having you walk the lands and witness the sadness but perseverance of others, slowly bringing everyone together as this hidden silver lining. The assault on Memoria is my favourite scene in any game, ever. The war torn people of Gaia drawing together in the face of overwhelming opposition and uniting to push back the darkness, makes my hair stand on end. I don't think there will ever be another like it.
Final Fantasy games, especially IX and X, are such masterpieces, I can vividly experience and remember my childhood through this, even though a played alone, I've never felt in solitude, mainly because it was so magical and well built as a world, like you were together with the characters, something only a good story can do.
I was around 13 when I played FFix, and although I couldn't understand half the game due to not being a native English speaker, the game blew my mind and gave me some of my best memories of my life. I will always love you FFIX.
Of course there is. Video games music continues to be incredible. Check out the score from Octopath Traveler, for example. Uematsu was a true pioneer, but many have continued to produce amazing stuff in his footsteps.
@@jon-umber Ya video game music is one of the things that is just as good if not better now. But overall quality of games as a whole? Way worse now for sure.
Haha, that was actually one of the tracks I was debating with myself over - it is absolutely one of the game's top ones but with that whole righteous guitar part, not one I would consider quite "relaxing" enough! Glad you enjoyed.
I did everything I could to get as many copies as possible of all items and weapons and we'll as Stat min/max to boost as much as possible. But I spent so much time In memoria and the crystal world. I never did capture the Excalibur 2
The game itself. They're the rendered background images without any overlay on them. Images of just the backgrounds were released in various artbooks that were mostly Japan-exclusive.
@@SweetKingTanner lol I never realized how weird it is til now, I just never expected a FF game to look like that and have only half played some of the games as a kid. I thought they might be some specific rendition of areas in the game.
Agreed. This game just has so many cozy / relaxing / beautiful places like Dali, Daguerreo, Esto Gaza, Cleyra, Summit Station, and of course the cities of Alexandria & Lindblum!
Man I’m playing it rn for the first time as my FIRST FF game besides a little X when I was young and I cried at least 5x throughout the story. Love immersing myself I’m these worlds. The Osts are overtaking my usual go to anime osts I’ve been listing to my whole life.
Thank you so much for this FF9 complication game music. It brought me so much memories during my high school. I can't believe it has been more than 20 years, yet this songs are still fresh and never get old to listen. Cheers.
This game was such a letdown. Sorry to be that guy but it's true. Killer soundtrack though! *Edit* This is coming from having played FF1-8 and being accustomed to a more 'open world,' though 1-8 weren't even truly open, they did a way better job of faking it.
I thought ff9 was solid. It was pretty much exactly as linear as any preceding final fantasy, which never tried to be open world games except for the World of Ruin part of ff6. They fleshed out a coherent and visually interesting world. The characters seemed like adults with believable problems and motivations, and the plot only went off the rails a little bit with the 'new world filled with clones who trade souls with the OG world' and Deathguise out of nowhere ending.
