the channel is called quick ass tutorials because I hated the very self-serving youtuber template where you are forced to sit through them showing you a movie about themselves, reading the title of the video back to you like you don't know what you clicked on, and making whacky jokes instead of actually teaching anything
@@QuickAssTutorials I appreciate you for flipping the script. Also, I bought a Mavic Air 2 yesterday. Cant wait to blow people away with my sunset pictures.
Agreed. You should be way up in the view count based on the quality and thoroughness. Really nice work. Beats out a lot of the beginner drone vids I've seen on RU-vid. Cheers !
Im the biggest troll/hater of tutorials that take forever to get to the point. With that said this is the first video I have ever seen from u and I must say thank u. Its simple and comprehensive. Captain drone was the only "drone" channel i was subscribed to until now👍🏿👏🏿
I've got a Mavic Air, and honestly I'm in love with the freedom it gives you, especially as I live in China where there are no real laws on using drones except (Don't use it near an airport) and I'm surrounded by mountains and city lights. I'd love to upgrade but as a hobby it's not worth it for me yet, but I love your videos and learn a lot from them.
Or when the politburo is meeting. Other than that, even in Shanghai, they kind of leave you alone. Use sound judgement of where you should fly and you'll most likely not hear anything from anyone.
@@Matanumi actually, no. It's way more restrictive to fly in NYC, or the United States in general. The same "mah raihts" ("My rights" with a 'murican accent) people, are the same ones who think you're taking your drone out to specifically spy on them and them alone. You won't have some nut job with a gun, trying to shoot your drone down in China. That's a real possibility in the United States.
As a Mavic 2 Pro owner, I agree it is a phenomenal piece of kit - though my output is mostly photography rather than videography. For beginners to this aircraft it may or may not be significant to note that I did find that I had to up the in-camera sharpness by 1 point as it looked quite soft by default.
RU-vid presenter: Has amazing footage overseas of castles and awesome landscapes. Me: Oh hey I can see my old school from here and there's a park, oh no tree!
Try fpv, mavics and phantoms get boring after about a year and you can get way better footage with a mini quad anyways. You could even build a cinewhoop which beats a mavic for photography for most jobs.
It's amazing how things have changed in the last 7 months. Thanks for the break down. I was hesitant to snag the mini at Costco because the mini 2 had just come out. But I got it for just over $300, and I couldn't be happier. You nailed it. I'm just a dad filming my kids and trips. I can't believe how good the video is. Yeah, I'm not looking to get paid, just to have some family videos that aren't embarrassing to share with friends and family. I love your breakdown. Cheers.
Seriously! I've been trying to learn how to built a gaming/streaming pc for years now. But everytime I check out a video, it's never explained in layman's terms. Or they're always using their sponsor's brand, attached with a promo code! And not telling you what they personally think is the best. But here I love how he explained the different between a unprofessional or a toy drone. I like how he explained each price point and use. "If you just want to shoot casually, and want to film yourself, family, and pets get this." "If you shoot regularly or want to turn this into a profession here's a good starting option." He showed us photo & video comparisons and didn't try to sway are opinions. And showed us the difference between a action drone FPV. That does flips and spins for action shots. And a normal professional drone for HD photos and videos. Made it quick simplistic and easy to understand. Love this tutorial one of the best I've seen.
Hi Alex. Great video. After a 4 year hiatus I am getting back into drones. Back in the day I had a 333 exception and flew the Phantom 3 Pro doing industrial visual inspections and mapping stockpiles and quarries. Now I want to reboot the drone portion of my career and after watching dozens of videos and reading a slew of reviews your video, the best by far, has more then confirmed my thoughts. Mavic 2 Pro. Although I want to get into aerial photography and cinematography my main focus with the M2P will be photogrammetry and the reconstructing of structures and environments for use in Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) experiences. My primary work is AR/VR development or as we now call it in the industry Extended Reality (XR). Drones have so many uses these days it boggles the mind. I will certainly be watching many more of your videos and taking your online courses. I'll still use my P3P for industrial mapping but will also be getting the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual for more detailed visual and basic thermographic inspections. Thank you again for the awesome video. It's just the advice I needed right when I needed it.
That was the best and objective review I’ve seen in a looong time. Straight forward, and laid it out in steps. I especially appreciate the time to go through each level practically.
BEST DRONE REVIEW/TALK ON RU-vid EVER! This is the 30th video I’ve watched over the past couple weeks and hands down the best!! I’m buying a mini 2, PERIOD. I heavily debated dropping the money on a Air 2S because I have no issues affording it but simply put: it would cross the line for me. I don’t want to go into the realm of what’s just “fun” and into spending that extra time learning RAW editing and purchasing a monthly subscription to a video editing tool when iMovie is easily good enough for me right now. THANK YOU 🙏🏻
Probably the best beginner's guide video I've seen for any product. Youre concise and to the point, no bull sh*ttin. kept it honest and also inspiring at the same time.
took your advice and bought the Mavic air 2, taking my faa test part 107 tomorrow. Can't wait to watch all of your videos. 1.)Shoot in paranamic ( Spelled wrong) 2.) Adobe lightroom 10 bucks a month 3.) Shoot in Raw and use lightroom 4.) No ISO( I don't know what that means) 5.) shoot in conditions rather and plan the timing with shots
One of the best videos I have seen in along time. Very good editing not once did I get bored! You showing the pictures and the quality made me want to keep watching! 👌
17 years old rn, I have all adobe products, a capable pc, editing skills and I've been flying drones for a few years now. I'm definitely going to try and put my skills together and make an aerial photography company.
I am an amateur photographer, i own a Nikon D750 and some solid glass, i have been doing a lot of astrophotography with it, but i also do a lot of hiking, camping, kayaking and i am now looking to get a drone. DJI is a natural choice, and i have narrowed it down to either the Mavic Air 2 or the Pro 2. I was looking at the Mini 2, but it doesn’t have Active Track, which i need. Thank you for making this video, clearly you know what you are talking about. It’s nice to see a drone video from a cinematographers point of view, in the end that’s the whole point, isn’t it? Well at least for me it is. I love that you also teach this stuff, i will definitely check out your course! Thanks again!
You really make it easy to figure out how to buy the right drone and how important it is to have a plan how and what you want to film. I really do enjoy flying them and trying to get great film or shots. Thanks for all your great advice. Really enjoy you’re videos you really make it simple to understand. Keep up the great work. Thanks Russ
Video straight from Drone Launch Academy that I had to pay for. The course is pretty awesome with all the information given. Easily the editing portion of the course
This was the perfect intro video for me. I have plenty photo and video experience but I’ve never flown a drone. After watching this video, I immediately signed up for his 1 hour FREE seminar and went through it this morning. It is packed with TONS of information! Alex even answered my question in the seminar Q&A. if I can figure out how to fly a drone, I will definitely be taking his on-line course because sounds like it focuses on the ART of drone photography. Well done and very entertaining.
Recently been hiking every weekend and thought to myself "Getting some drone shots here would be nice", then found your video. Thanks for the incredibly comprehensive video.
Great overview of what's out there! Totally agree about the Mavic 2 Pro; I've had mine for about a year, and the footage and photography still feel magical to me. I'm more of a photographer, but I really need to dive into the videography side, especially now that I just got my part 107 last week.
I've seen some people recommend that to stop you from "flicking your sticks" and making the drone move a bit smoother. But I don't know, feels wrong :P
Was fast forwarding to see the footage of each and let play then heard "it looks like balls." That, sir, made my day. I had to go back to see what exactly you were referring to. As a Mavic Mini owner, I concur with your description completely. The accuracy of the statement could not be put more eloquently. Bravo. If you ever upgrade your EVO II to the dual version, I would love to see your analysis vs. Mavic 2 Enterprise with FLIR.
Watched over 10 videos before I got to a useful one, finally! Quality content here. You did make me spit out my coffee with that "shadows & highlights look like balls" comment..
How many man hours (start to finish) did it take to do this particular video? - It's concise, informative and palatable to all skill levels. I think you make it really tough to compete against. And that speaks volumes to anyone looking to extract the best from themselves - so yeah, thanks.
Not only are you a phenomenal aerial videographer, I found your presentation to be one of the best comparison tutorials that I’ve viewed. I have become a new and enthusiastic subscriber as I believe that I can learn a lot from you because of your ability to teach. I am a professional ground based photographer/ videographer who is advancing to aerial. I’m fairly adept at Capture 1 and Premiere Pro. Thank you for your dedication. I look forward to viewing many more of your presentations.
I've been a hobby photographer for about 5 years now, off and on as my free time permits. These videos make me want to take it much more seriously. Gracie.
I know I am way after the point as I scroll through your older videos but I am really liking the straight forward approach you take. I just bought a DJI Air 2S. I have played around with a couple of toy drones but not any real ones like those sold by DJI. I have been a nurse since 1994 but I started having heart issues right before covid hit. I had heart surgery in June but I'm not the same and I can't nurse anymore. I am hoping to primarily learn videography and stop sitting around waiting to "go back to normal" but I do not like being on medical disability so if I can find a way to start making some money at the same time, that would be fantastic. now...back to binging your content 😁
Hi. Thanks for the great video. Just saw the other video called “make money in drones” or something. What drone is the best for photography? Except of the expensive, big one? Thanks
if you truly want to make money in drones, Mavic Air 2 is a minimum. If you want to spend less than that, then won't be good enough to sell for most metrics
Got my 107 in June -- about the same time I purchased the Mavic 2 Pro. I have to say, you have the best videos and tutorials -- and I've freaking watched them all! great job. I will always follow your channel.
I've been droning about 7 months now. I love it. This video is superb. It has answered so many questions I've been asking, and a lot I haven't thought of asking, but probably would in the future. Thank you Mr QuickAss ! I have now subscribed. I will probably buy the Pro when the new version comes out. It looks great footage.
Excellent video. I'm not a stranger to RC aircraft or photography, but now that the kids are grown up and I'm traveling, I would like to combine the two and be able to share with family and friends. This was extremely helpful and I thank you for this video.
Dude...really like what you're doing: putting the data-info out there...letting us know both sides...and the "fastness" of your presentation is spot on...as an indie filmmaker(digital maker? Haven't touched actual film stock in some time...) it is so important to really know more than just your audience...but what they sometimes really need and how they can take it in...to learn and more so -- grow from it -- education! You're a good teacher...all the best to you and yours in all abundance.
Thank you so much for the video and all of your videos. Your videos are succinct and to the point, with perfectly timed humor to keep the videos fun, interesting and the audience involved. It is such a breath of fresh air having a professional actually doing these videos and explaining why and how the picture differences are occurring. It has been so frustrating having hosts giving opinions without being able to explain the hows and whys, instead bluffing through their narratives, giving opinions without being able to explain the hows and why’s of the tech differences and image differences. Thank you so much for your time and efforts! You have a long time follower and student!
Thank you, I am brand new to this drone Market looking for something to use for the family and on vacations. This is the first video in this whole field that I am watching and I appreciate the straight-to-the-point honest review. Thank you
Wow... between all the mediocre reviews I was really amazed with yours in being spot on and just straight forward level of details that truly matters when looking at the multiple perspectives. Not to mention nicely and soothingly edited.
thanks for a great guide! One extra note, in terms of Mavic Air - less than 250g, less strict regulations - can be flown above people or houses, at least in the UK
Thank you! You are a professional and I appreciate your commentary. Just getting started and have Part 107 certificate. Purchased a Mavic Air 2 and love it. Thinking about moving up to Pro 2. I am still on the fence but know that the Air 2 is not going to hold me back as I have lots to learn. Watched your town reel video and you had me hooked. Great work. Thanks again.
Great video! My main priority for selecting a drone are 1. Range 2. Obstacle avoidance 3. Flight time Which drone would you recommend? I don't really care about video quality or all that other stuff.
I love your videos. I’ve got about 100 flight hours and am working for my 107. Can’t wait to see what the future holds. I love drone videos that are easy for beginners to understand but yet full of valuable knowledge!
Got a phantom 4K years ago and kinda just stopped flying....but just got a mavic mini for Christmas and love this little thing!! Just in awe how well it performs and quality shots. Gonna sell my phantom 4K now 👀
Your channel is really good. I have learned so much from your quick ass tutorials - and not all drone related. I'm going to be changing my own style to reflect much of what you do. Thanks.
Just found you today and you're really helping me make a proper decision on what drone to buy and how to create a business using it! Thank you... I'm subscribed with notifications on! Keep the vids coming
Daaam bro. I have followed a lot of tech yo tubers for a while now, and the way you deliver the information is informative without getting redundant, helpful and straight to the point. please keep this up!
Well what an honest Drone buying guide.. I just got my first drone, Now this drone is learning me to [fly] I changed a few setting,, so so easy to fly.. i am pleased with my Mavic 2 pro.
Damn this guy is both good looking and smart. Amazing video and review of all the drones. Thank you so much for all the amazing content!! You earned yourself a subscriber 🙏
I shot a food tour with my A7iii in the Amalfi Coast where you were at with those drones shots. Man I'm kicking my self for not getting a drone sooner the shot I could of got off the boats and on the islands would of been unreal....!
Man, this is such a good video. I'm leaving for Tahiti in about a week and realized this is the perfect opportunity to start familiarizing myself with something I've been interested in for a while now: drones. I'm a drone beginner, but I'm a tech enthusiast in general and want to build this skill. Think I'm gonna go with the Mavic Air 2. Thanks. EDIT: Just saw you have a 2022 version of this, probably should watch that first before buying lol. EDIT 2: Looks like the Mini 3 Pro is the move for me.
You monster. I leave San Diego to brave an Idaho winter, and this is the video I’m forced to watch? Way to make a man homesick! You even recorded where I proposed. God, I miss that place.
As a photographer first and drone pilot second I cannot believe how I missed your account! I’ll just write it up as this was only 7 months ago lol. Absolutely fantastic advice. When I purchased my Mavic Air 2 the main concern was price vs Mavic 2 Pro. Specs are very close. Will likely upgrade to Mavic 3 Pro or the like whenever that comes out.
I just got the mini 2 as a first drone. It’s pretty sick. What I foresee is many people wanting a drone, but being way to rough and breaking them like crazy. It’s so delicate. But it’s a little beast in the air
Umm those are prohibitively expensive for no reason whatsoever. Moreover, you have to unlock the drone in advance if you are within 5 NM of an airport, otherwise it won't fly. The FIMI XE8 2020 fraction of the price and does exactly the same thing as the DJI, (except that it doesn't care how close you are to an airport).
good to hear anthony everybody has enjoyed the big improvements that came in this model, i don't know anybody who doesn't love. plus its just cool to open up and look at fresh out the package
Wished I had seen this a couple days ago! Just purchased the mini as I have never flown a drone before and need to learn. I do real estate photography, but need to “up” my game to include drone footage. This is a great video for deciding which to get for that purpose. Thank you!
Excellent review. Thank you for taking the time to show us your "stuff". Great stuff, this helps me decide on which drone I should start with. I know nothing yet, not even a photographer but this will be a personal excursion for me to enjoy and let it unfold.
