In the market for a M5 but need the knowledge to make sure you get the right one, well check out our video and in just over 10mins you will be clued up and ready to buy
This video is the best guide out there. Moving on from an 18' E63s and was torn between the F90 and a RS7, but this video settles it. Will definitely be getting a tune from you guys
Top video Tommy. I replaced the coolant tank on my 19 plate competition. When it was in for the major service the technician noticed all the coolant that I obviously couldn't reach to clean up. When he put it back together it was showing an engine management fault. He swapped a couple of injectors about I think. That cleared the fault but he said it might come back. He raised this with his manager and he agreed it should be replaced by BMW. I was driving home from the garage and tried a hard pull. The car cut out and threw up a drive train fault. I turned it off and restarted it 2 minutes later with no faults. I phoned the garage and it's going in to get hopefully everything covered in coolant replaced. The tech boy also said they would probably replace the tank again. Interested to see the videos on the after market coolant tanks.👍🏽
Have been starting the process of looking at getting into the BMW family.. debating between an M5 or M550i - but your content has been a great source for information without any of the extra BS.
Best F90 video ever! I just had my coolant tank replaced - unfortunately, the leak got into the injectors, so it was not a cheap fix (just outside my 4yr warranty). I wish I had found you and your coolant tank video earlier!
Brilliant video pal. Really really want to tune mine it’s the 19 plate pre opf but it’s the toss up of extra power vs BMW warranty.. It’s quite high mileage too now at 68k. All be it mostly motorway. 😬 if I do decide to tune it’ll be with you guys. Keep up the good work mate. 👍🏼 Edit: On the note of stock power, it is certainly quick stock but as is usually the case you become numb too the power, or at least I have as crazy as that sounds 🤯 I have had quick cars for years pre the M5 Comp all be it this is certainly the quickest out the box. 👍🏼
It’s a very quick car mate 100%. Still puts a smile on my face but you do become accustomed to the power unless you you don’t drive it for a few days. Velocity Stage 2 soon I think 👀💨
Awesome video man, I would love to hear how you upgraded the sound system; I'm looking to do the same thing, but no one really can point me in the right direction
Nice vid, mate. I’d also add that There’s a difference between pre LCI and LCI engines. Cylinders have different coating. Thus, you’ll need different tuning maps.
Theres quite a few software variants for f90 all with their own offsets and used/ unused maps. Lci does not change the principle of tuning. Correct lining on cylinders is different. Nikosil coating on lci and direct to alusil material on pre lci. Similar boost and timing is used for both though.
@@velocitytuningltd I am sorry, I can not go deep technically, since I’m not that good in it. My closest friend owns a BMW tuning company and he explained it to me several months ago. All I remembered was that I’ll need a different ECU mapping once I upgrade to LCI M5. There was something about intake temperature, angles and fuel/air mixture.
Finishing up paperwork for M5 today when salesperson says to me we have run into a hiccup. Coolant expansion recall 4/17/2024 as I was signing on dotted line. Contract on hold.
I heard for the M2 at least that if someone goes to the dealership after 2020 and got a software update that the ecu would then be locked. Is this true? Or am i safe with any 2018-2019 car no matter what
The F90 is a classy keeper. After tuning to MHD stage 1 and hearing that rods were being bent and bearings spun I removed the tune. Stock power is still insane with premium petrol. Luckily life’s been great with it (2018 with 70k miles).
@@quincylinder9738 until I have the capital to replace an engine in the event of a mishap, I’ll stick to the natural power the car has. It’s hard to drive this car flat out as it is. I either find myself at the next light or behind someone in the left lane.
Same here looking to buy early next year, the coolant tank issue is putting me off the M5, issues all over F90 Facebook group even after them being swapped out after warranty. If I’m dropping 50k into a car I don’t want hassles 😂
@velocitytuningltd What is it like dailying this car? In terms of security, parking it in a supermarket carpark and just generally. I personally can't be bothered with the admin of 2 cars. I'm currently in a looked after tuned m235i
hey bro i been thinking about buying the new mustang gt 2024, but after sales taxes and everything it comes out close to 60K. And I looked at some used m5 competition which is also around 55-60k or so. But with decent milages on there from like 20-40k or so. Should i just save for the new mustang or a m5 competetion? and all the m5 are 2020-2023
just to correct ua 09/19 and forward got zf8hp76. i may be incorrect on the exact month but my 2020 pre lci m5 prod date 06/2020 has the 76 confirmed with xhp when i sent them my logs
@@velocitytuningltd true basically most 2020 cars my unit is possibly one of the last pre lci to roll of the factory it was put on the road 09/20 so that was the start of my factory warranty..
