Ordered a new Jet Boil coffee press a few months ago when they went on sale. New ones are made of silicone. I took the old style..like the one in your vid... and paired it with the Pathfinder container as you show. Works great there. Walmart sells a plastic cup lid that fits this press system perfectly...will keep the extra coffee hot. To keep one cup in the press hot you have to be sure the two piece Jet Boil plunger rod is very loose where the rods connect. Once you have plunged the filter simply unscrew the top section of the plunger rod and the lid will now fit over the lower rod and filter. Great vid for all those unaware. Thanks!
You *almost* had me with this one, Ernie. I hope the one with silicone around the top helps with the grounds issue and it might replace my Aeropress in some situations. Aaaand, now I want a cup of coffee.
I make cowboy coffee in mine. I grind my beans on nearly the finest setting I've got, get the water boiling and dump them in, boil a bit longer and then take off the fire. I let the pot sit out of the fire to settle a bit and then just before I pour a cup I dump in a little cold water from waist height creating a temperature differential that sucks the remaining grounds to the bottom. After that pour gently and you get perfectly ground free coffee down to the couple of oz in the pot. No need to buy and carry any additional gadgets.
Dan Davis...I’m with you! I have but one suggestion. Add your coffee grounds when the water gets warm, not already boiling. You will get more out of the grounds and there will be no bitter taste. Other than that, CC is the absolute best and easiest coffee in the world!
@@dandavis8500 I use espresso coffee because is grinned very fine to make cowboy coffee and you’re absolutely right, hardly any grinds if any, everything goes to the bottom of the Stanley.
French press = too much cleanup. For car camping, I use a GSI ultralight pour-over (the black nylon one) and for backpacking or hiking, it's Cafe Bustello instant (unless I can find some Medaglia D'oro )
Cafe Bustelo espresso works wonders to make cowboy coffee, great taste. I prefer not to use instant. You can also get Café Morro espresso at the dollar store, comes vacuum sealed. Is so finely grinned that it goes right to the bottom and you hardly ever get any grinds.
Learn to make Cowboy Coffee and you will take 5 pounds off your pack weight! Cowboy Coffee boils the bitterness out and you won’t have to carry all of those French presses.
